Only in the 90's they started to become a real threat, and so they've won many leagues in the early and late 90's. But, then again, Real responded with few more leagues and 3 champions league titles. Then - Rijkaard's Barca. But then Madrid responded with 2 leagues. Now it's Barca's time again, but Madrid will remind you of your eternal frustration soon enough, don't worry.

Redondo was pure class and dominance in midfield, I've never ever seen any other like Redondo in that key position. Makelele, back in his prime then, a midfield defensive bulldog like no other.
It could have been the awesomest team ever in football history; Casillas, Roberto Carlos, Hierro, Helguera, Redondo, Makelele, Zidane,Figo, Raul and Ronaldo.

One season before, Redondo left due to problems with the new President. And after this season, Makelele and coach Del Bosque were also dismissed by the President for "not being Galactic enough". Guess who was the President then? And it was downhill since then...

Only in the 90's they started to become a real threat, and so they've won many leagues in the early and late 90's. But, then again, Real responded with few more leagues and 3 champions league titles. Then - Rijkaard's Barca. But then Madrid responded with 2 leagues. Now it's Barca's time again, but Madrid will remind you of your eternal frustration soon enough, don't worry.
