no, you can do it by first doing tight smooth circles then when you get the circle small enough and tight enough you can essentially lock your wheel and spin.

theres a trick you can do where you ride in a circle and just keep making the circle smaller and smaller, and if you're going fast enough, when you get to the very center and throw your body around, you can do kind of the same thing
