  • i love this song....my dad and i listen o i all the time :) and i'm only 12 ...learned it when i was around 7

  • maybe, it was 1996 or around... driving likelike highway, i remember listening this song..in the hawaiin rain.... it was fantastic.... just fantastic.... i really want to go back to there...

  • This is perhaps the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.

  • Its so enjoyable, comfortable to enjoy any of Keali'i's songs. I was ecstatic arriving at Kahului in 2008 to find out he was performing at the Maui County Fair this night.

I walked from the Maui Beach Hotel to see him. Was happy beyond belief at the end of the evening. Waited four years for this. So worth it !!!! Happy alohas.

  • Most of Keali'is CD's contain Hawai'ian lyrics and English translation. Go to half.com and you can purchase CD's at a lower price. Inquire of University of Hawai'i Press about books to learn the language, also found on half.com. Your appreciation of Reichel's music is wonderful. Also see on UTube his chanting as his hula group performed at Merrie Monarch Festival held in Hilo every year ! Mahalo for your interest.

  • I have never heard any song by Keali'i that I didn't like.. This is one of my favorites. Mahalo for another one, Keali'i.

  • This song takes me back to my childhood and so many memories. Of who I was and where I came from. I miss you my hawaii.

  • I've never heard of this artist before, but he could be singing his grocery list and I would love it. It's absolutely, amazingly beautiful.

  • Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do something else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn’t. You take certain things for granted, even when you know you should never take anything for granted.

  • mahalo no ka leo maikai ...ka leo ma ka lani ''mahalo nui ...

  • This music touched my heart. Thanks.

  • I love his music..so peaceful. I love listening to it to brighten my mood and make me feel better of if I just want to relax and pretend Im on the beaches of Hawaii.

  • mine&&mommas favv songgg<33 ..

  • please make an english version of this and your other hawaiian songs in translation and make a cd . i know on your cd you have the words translated in english but nothing can compare to this version being sung in keali's voice itself . I heard you once at Germaine's Luau and fell in love with your beautiful voice .I have prayed you will make a translated version of this and the other kapili song . Is there a website for you ? I would love to send you a request to record this type of cd .

  • @elainehill34 If you invest time in learning the Hawaiian language, you can enjoy the song more! After all, perhaps one of the political point of singing Hawaiian songs in original Native language was counter the (American) colonial domination of all Native cultural practices and forms. And Hawaiians have been forced to learn the language(s) of colonizers, it's time all Ha'ole learn to respect these things and learn more Native cultures and languages if they want to understand them!

  • @richardnsalvador Well spoken. Attempting to understand Hawai'ian people or culture by forcing it into another language is a bastardization at best. I find this music very peaceful and truly wish I had an understanding of the language so I could tell what he was saying. It's beautiful, but it has to be considerably better when the meaning is actually fully understood.

  • @richardnsalvador I would LOVE to learn Hawaiian. Where can I get cd's or books to do so? I've picked up words here and there on a website, but not enough to do much with it. Thanks.

  • Love this song! I used to listen to this song so much when I was around 4-6 years old.

  • one of my favorites by him, mahalo

  • Proud Filipino born in Hawaii (Kaneohe in Oahu). Thanks to my grandparents who worked hard in the pineapple fields and the ones who lived off the island when it was so simple and abundant. Most of Filipinos accept who I am even though I don't speak Tagalog but Hawaii is always in my heart and I am proud to be born here.

  • cry 4 da land

  • Hawaii is calling me with this beautiful music.

  • A very beautiful song, i always loved it.

  • Awesome melody, great hawaiian song

  • its funny how haoles think that jus cuz u live in hawaii ur hawaiian. im full jap, raised from 2 plantation families from kauai and hilo. i stay in hawaii, told a haole i live hawaii and he thought i was hawaiian

  • @diddywonton

I'm the same way too!!! My family work the plantations of Waipahu and Kaua'i. I live on the mainland and I share the aloha and the pidgin and the haoles, they always think I'm Hawaiian, but no i'm pure Filipino.

  • @diddywonton

It's the same way with me too! My family are from Waipahu and Kaua'i who worked the plantations. Raised pure Filipino and living on the mainland. I share the Aloha and our pidgin and the haoles think that I'm Hawaiian. I'm not.

  • @diddywonton I'm 50% Hawaiian not living in Hawaii and it always blows my mind how very little people know about Hawaiians. I got you don't like Asian and many people seem to think Hawaiian, Samoan and Tongan are the same thing. I live in a county were middle names aren't too rare and go on every document, I had to argue with them that my middle name isn't even supposed to be known by anyone but family. They thought I was nuts or something.

  • This song makes you pause and listen and be carried. The whole atmosphere changed. What a song!

  • This song takes me back to that time when our halau went up the mountains (near Manoa) to pick flowers and leaves for our leis and costumes. Such happy times!

  • I was at Waihee school when this album came out. This and Kawaipunahele were my favorites and to this day, it hasn't changed. My sister danced for him and I feel truly blessed to be part of it, even if all I do is watch. I met him, he is a very nice person despite being busy. He really knows his background and takes pride in every song he sings. Mahalo for posting this up. Really brings tears to my eyes.

  • my favorite thing about hawaiian culture is that you dont have to be hawaiian, or samoan, or any other type of polynesian to truly appreciate it. it doesnt matter what ethnicity you are, you can still share in the aloha spirit and have island pride, all that is required is a love and respect for the traditions, especially such heartbreakingly beautiful music as this. mahalo to keali'i for his moving music!

  • This is my absolute favorite song that Keali'i sings. I love and appreciate the traditions and pride of the islands and the aloha spirit...it lives in all those that welcome you to their island paradise.

This song takes me into the upcountry everytime I hear it....into the mist and lush green mountains that are Maui. Aloha.

  • Love Hawaii,we recently visited hawaii for the 1st time for our 4th Anniversary.

iam in love with it ,mainly music and culture .

can u send lyricz of it.

  • If you buy the CD , the lyrics are on the inside in English and Hawaiian. Follow along in Hawaiian after a few times and you'll have this song down, to the amazement of your friends!

  • This song touches very close to my heart...it was a song that they played at my dads funeral in Hawaii and it was dear to me that I played it walking down the aisle on my Wedding Day in Memory of him!!~~

  • Oh man, that's awesome. I dont know if under the same circumstances I could have kept my composure walking down the aisle hearing that.

  • mom is hawaiian and i grew up to this music...

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • O cool, fragrant mist?

I search for its sweet fragrance

    But it isn't found

    Perhaps you are high above

    In the shelter of Maunaleo

    An adornment of the upland

    The upland of Känehoa

It is the gentle Mälie wind

That will bring my love back
