You got to be constantly looking, because it's not going to normally come to you in a video game, a movie, a TV show, and especially not on the radio. It can be hard if you don't know what you're looking for, but it's great when you find something.

why doesn't the lead singer sing like THIS and 'Cry of the Banshee' in more of their songs? The style he employs in these two songs is so interesting and original, whereas his vocals in the other Brocas Helm songs just seem so ... standard, by comparison.

Before Brutal Legend I didn't know WHAT I liked. GnR was the only band I really knew, but now I'm a hardcore Heavy/Power Metal fan. Certain bands I could discover without the game because they were so popular. But none of us could discover the awesomeness of Brocas Helm if it wasn't for the game. So before you start complaining about how it had to be a video game, be happy more people are liking heavy metal. Sing for the glory, of metal!

i found this song on brutal legend, and ive listened to metal for nearly five years, its not about where we hear it, its that we hear these forgotten bands of this era, and bands that have been left behind in the wake of pop and r&b, the majority of kidds who played brutal legend found songs they liked, and that means more will lisgen and their love for metal will grow, thats the importance

@edgar867 You know how true music dies? Nobody hearing about it. Money is IMPORTANT. The artists may be awesome, but they're people. They need houses, they pay bills, they need to eat, blah. So if an awesome band gets no fans? Oh, big fucking surprise, they don't get very far, nobody hears about them, and they stop playing. And that, my friend, is a tragedy.
So yeah, I heard of Brocas Helm through Brutal Legend. It's an awesome game, and I'm glad that it's enlightened so many people!

@FoxyUkeFox Manilla Road and Brocas Helm have been playing solid since the 80's without the aid of games or really much notice at all. Money isn't needed. It's just sad to see such amazing, talented, bands be hidden while shitty bands like Slipknot and Lamb of God are being mass-produced for the public and labelled as Metal.
This game is good for using BH, they deserve attention. At the same time, we'll just end up getting swarmed by immature people who make silly comments like 720square.

Money is important so that the amazing and talented bands can rise beyond the super-popular silly mainstream stuff. Exactly right about the attention thing. Without the game, I never would have heard of BH, and that thought makes me sad. :'(

@FoxyUkeFox Metal comes to those who find it, it's an ever growing genre that has literally tens of thousands of bands and every day there's more, either forming or being discovered. You got to be constantly looking, because it's not going to normally come to you in a video game, a movie, a TV show, and especially not on the radio. It can be hard if you don't know what you're looking for, but it's great when you find something.
Try Encyclopaedia Metallum, it's a good list of Metal.
