@Slaverevolt As both the Catholic and Orthodox churches endorse evolution I would question your statistics. My wife, a Chinese Buddhist, endorses evolution.

My Muslim friends avoid thinking about it, so I don't think their opinion can have any depth.

Gore Vidal served in the Pacific. He wasn't at Iwo Jima, but he was close by. Not sure of the exact location, but he's written about it in his memoirs and various essays over the years.
