  • "The media is the enemy"

As someone who is still a journalist-albeit a freelancer-and writer, he is sadly right.

The media don't just promote and protect corporate interests-they are corporate interests.

  • "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence and fulfills the duty to express the results of his thoughts in clear form." -- Albert Einstein

    Keep talking,thinking and living PEACE

  • Gore Vidal: Proof that a gay man can be dignified, elegant, intelligent and one of the finest minds on the planet. He is the finest example of a gay gentleman that there is, and we are ever so proud of our resident genius. Long Live Vidal!

  • Why are you going from Vidal video to Vidal video posting the same comment?

  • Why must you point out that he's gay? I mean, he IS, but you're being very weird in your putting that spin on it.

  • Atheists: Non Religious (Scientists) 16%

Mysticism: World Religions, 2/3 Judea, Christian, Muslim (That is the majority of the world's politicians, soldiers, police, teachers and children denying evolution and believing in a god) 84%

End religious persecution through education. Face versus fiction.

Quit spewing rancor at the intellectuals and trying to make their contributions to humanity seem minor. Start asking tough question of your politicians.

  • That's an odd split. So, 0% hindus, Buddhists, Shinto, pagan, etc, 0% non-religious, non-scientists, and 0% "mystics" who also believe in evolution. I'd check those statistics again, if I were you.

  • @Slaverevolt As both the Catholic and Orthodox churches endorse evolution I would question your statistics. My wife, a Chinese Buddhist, endorses evolution.

My Muslim friends avoid thinking about it, so I don't think their opinion can have any depth.

  • someone love me, please.

  • Bush: hhhhmm war on bad temper aaay?

  • wasnt Gore Vidal a marine on Iwo Jima, so a man who fought their deserves to be listened too, and has rigar doged an angry bullet at Iwo j..

  • "In 1943, on graduating from Phillips Exeter Academy, Vidal joined the U.S. Army Reserve."

No Iwo Jima, no bullets dodged, yes quack.

  • Gore Vidal served in the Pacific. He wasn't at Iwo Jima, but he was close by. Not sure of the exact location, but he's written about it in his memoirs and various essays over the years.

  • Follow this aging quack if you like, but know that he was a member of the America First Committee in the 40's (opposed to America's entry into WWII) and an apologist for Timothy McVeigh. Check it out!

  • read a book, ignoramus. Preferably one if his.

  • I read books and have been selling them for 21 years, and Gore Vidal is a favorite of mine. I read him for entertainment though; afterall he does right historical FICTION... Your move.

  • turfclub, if you really read books, let alone sold them, you'd know the difference between "write" and "right". It's called "English". Look into it.

  • rong, rong, rong!

  • Dee Dee DEE Dumbass

  • I love his comb-over:P

  • Well said Mr. Vidal.

    Thank You.

  • Vidal is SO right! International police action instead of stupid wars. In a world of 25,000+ nukes, time for these macho pseudo leaders like Bush is over. Just think - 165,000+ INNOCENT Iraqis dead since we made this invasion. How many more enemies hate us now? I am so glad Vidal has been posted.

  • Or maybe more civilian deaths than that...last year when asked how many were 'collateral' damage, Bush replied "30,000, give or take." Give or take what?

IS that an appropriate way to phrase the fact of death on such a massive scale? "Give or take."

  • give or take our freedoms.

  • Yes, and why Iraq. It seems to have been forgotten that Saudis attacked New York on 9/11 rather than Iraqis. It's also interesting that our "president" has decided to delete the name "Osama Bin Laden" from his at best, awkward ramblings.

  • Rigar, what planet do you live on??

  • Thank you for making Mr. Vidal look better. Listen you may just learn something.

  • Funny story. Gore Vidal and Norman Mailer are bitter rivals, but they actually pretty much agree in terms of politics. Therefore, rigarick, you're in irrelevant moron.

  • check ur self

  • Sage advice for our time, a time of great changes on earth, either for liberty and sanity or greed and slavery.

  • And I thought my professor gave simplistic answers relying on their audiences ignorance to not understand the subject matter beyond a high school textbook.

  • Grab, grab, grab, spin, spin, spin... Best definition of this administration

  • Yes, a great man who is not delusional and who attempts to educate the propangandized.

  • Although he is brilliant, I disagree with his conspiracy theories about the elections. The '06 election basically killed such theories.

He dropped another profundity the other day: "I meet a lot of interesting six-year-olds and not many interesting sixteen-year-olds these days. What is happening in between those years in this nation?"

  • one of the few that really exposes the maddness

  • Click on my name, and click on "IMPEACH 2007" and learn how we can start to turn things around.

  • you can see that video of his speech on youtube. GORE VIDAL'S WARNING...

  • thank you for everything you done past and present

you are a great man, a brave man, and someone I have

    always looked up to.
