I am in rodeo and I compete in goat tying. This is a poor representation of what happens. This is a mockery and I am ashamed of my fellow rodeo competitors. We do not abuse and miss treat our live stock, they are a vital part of our rodeo careers and are respected as such. We switch out goats every run and have never trampled a goat like this. Conditions for this poor goat were terrible, we do more ground work to make a safer environment for the competitors and the goats.
I am not your enemy unless you make it so. I think what I see on this video should be a jail-able offense. My point however is that we live in a world where it's okay to abort babies according to our govt. Kudos on advertising the abuse that you can find in the goat tying sport, but why don't we see or hear about the organizations, clubs and such that take good care of them. In our organization you are disqualified and fined for slamming the goat. It only took two events of charging $100 per slammer and no one has slammed a goat in 5 years.

My church uses rodeo as a ministry. In some cases individuals do things that are wrong. But that's not to say that we are all abusive thugs. Please try to be open minded. Do you think rodeo would have come this far or be so popular if it was cruel. Most of this is overreacting.

I am a cowgirl that is involved in Indiana HIgh School Rodeo Association, and wat you are doing is making just another steriotype / obviously you see one or two different rodeo organizations , see them being abusive and put that abusive label on everysingle rodeo association / all of the rodeos that i have been in had a rules in goat tying which stated if your horse ran over the goat or tyedown line/ or if you flanked the goat roughly you would be penalized

I am in rodeo and I compete in goat tying. This is a poor representation of what happens. This is a mockery and I am ashamed of my fellow rodeo competitors. We do not abuse and miss treat our live stock, they are a vital part of our rodeo careers and are respected as such. We switch out goats every run and have never trampled a goat like this. Conditions for this poor goat were terrible, we do more ground work to make a safer environment for the competitors and the goats.

Kudos on advertising the abuse that you can find in the goat tying sport, but why don't we see or hear about the organizations, clubs and such that take good care of them. In our organization you are disqualified and fined for slamming the goat. It only took two events of charging $100 per slammer and no one has slammed a goat in 5 years.

Looks to me like you're selling rodeo short. I'm not going to deny that some rodeo contractors treat their animals cruelly. But do not say we do not care about animals. I set my horses above everything. They eat before I do. I goat tie. Every time I do, I'm careful with the goat. I do not treat it badly or let my horse get close enough to run it over. Seems to me you should probably do a bit more investigating. Not everything in rodeo is cruel.

To shark, I goat tye and have never heard it called 'nanny slamming'. The people in the video arent even doing it correctly. To correctly goat tye you do NOT slam it on the ground, you place it between your legs. you do NOT place your full weight on the goat, just enough to keep it on the ground, alot of these goats would be sold for meat if not for goat tying so really its life or death. usually theyre only used once a week maybe. You need to get the correct facts next time.

Ok i have a question. Why don't you look and see how they are treated when they are not being tied? Rodeo animals are treated very well and it doesn't hurt the goat ... accidents happen in every sport. Rodeo is not a bad thing if you look at it from every perspective.After i finish tying the goat i tie he just gets back up and walks over to me and licks me. Does that sound like an abused animal. Ok first of all you don't run at the goat. And if you roll them like you are supposed to it is not slaming. My goats that i practice on do not ever get hurt they just get mad.i mean i must not be fun for the goat but if you are tought the right way no harm should be brought to the animal.

(cont) of you call ANY of these little girls "bitches". They are only doing what they have been trained to do. I AGREE 100% that goat tying is wrong. It is unbalanced and cruel. To watch those goats on the video breaks my heart. However I do NOT believe ALL rodeos are cruel. Star broncos and bulls are VERY well taken care of, as are barrel racers and nearly all other mounted animals. However goat/calf tying should indeed be removed. You must see the WHOLE picture, not just the 1/2 you dislike.

You can never understand how well we take care of the goat when we are out there untill you have acctually done it
But SHARK we have a plethera of sponsers such as wrangler, chinch, justin boots, ariat boots, crulegurl, cactus ropes, cactus saddlery, and many many more one group isnt going to stop this grand tradition
Not to mention that most rodeos give the money earned to associations for things such as cancer and feeding the hungry and going green

I want to know what video Rodeo4774Gurl is watching. No slamming??? It doesn't hurt the animal?? What planet are you from? Intentionally putting an animal in a situation that causes extreme fear and ANY discomfort whatsoever is just WRONG. Those poor goats in that muck of rocks and mud could have DROWNED. Tell me what you do to your children if this is better treatment? How would your child feel if this was done to him/her? How would YOU feel watching it? Oh wait...proud I'm sure.

1.) We do NOT slam the goat we roll it down our knees and set it on the ground (Never "slamming")
2.) our Rodeo animals are better treated then your our kids
3.) they get the best food and best treatment
4.) If the goat is ever hurt in any way we get 5+ seconds added to our time (NOT good) Disqualified or fined
5.) We love our animals and they are never hurt intensionaly
6.) These are adult goats, its a breed of minrature goats ment for JUNIOR rodeos (THERE ARE NO BABIES)

Regarding 4- do you think 5 seconds has the same weight or importance as terror and potential suffering? I sure don't.
Regarding 5- you may not intentionally set out to hurt an animal, but you are willingly putting an animal in a dangerous situation that is obviously unnecessary and unpleasant. If something goes wrong and an animal gets carried out injured (or worse), it's because of your choices- "intentional" or not.

what a useless so called sporting event. This is a waste of time and there is no way anyone can not look at that and not know it is cruelty. You may have the it is just an animal attitude, but it is still cruel and animal cruelty is against the law so why is this not? cockfights are more important to disable than this? Atleast in the cockfights, they are fighting the same species and have a chance. This is a defenceless goat simply being slammed and tied. There is no excuse for that.

I am aware of that. I also know they roid them. Still it is animal against animal. They're trained to attack and focus however cruel it is. Each still has a chance, small or large. This goat doesn't and it happens over and over, many injuries and pain. Neither has a choice which makes it cruel and I am sure no man or animal wants to be slammed in mud or dirt and have their legs tied or be razored and pecked to death.

Over and over again these WOMEN do not show any compassion or care towards these little darlings - the injuries that must happen and the mental stress - how horrific !!! From one who rescues goats my heart is breaking to see such cruelty. As for these WOMEN, shame on you - would you do this to your child ? this is a bad example of rodeo! here we treat all our animals quiet well, you just chose the crappiest condition to use for an example! get your facts straight! I've done rodeo all my life and NONE of the rodeo's i've been to have been like this! Cruel my butt!!!!!! IL may be like this come to mississippi its NOTHING like that! Although I do agree that this high school rodeo was crappy don't NOT do busniess with ppl who sponser Rodeo's not all of us are like these ppl in this ONE vid!!!

not for the sake of taking sides but my question is if you have that many videos from coast to coast why not make a montage documentary instead of just one instance? it would give you far more credibility
