Amazing video! The part about not being able to remeber what he smelled like and sound like made me think about my mother and father, and i can not without a picture remember what they look like. For some reason i can not picture them in my mind. I try to think about a specific event and i can not see them. Does that make me a bad person? Does this mean i am forgetting about them?
@deathtouch503 It doesn't necessarily mean that you are forgetting about them. You're heart will never forget them. You will always have them in your heart. It's just the fact that you haven't seen them in a long time and you don't remember what they look like. I haven't seen my Great Nana in 3 almost 4 years now, and I am starting to lose what she looked like, but that doesn't mean that she won't be in my heart.
@deathtouch503 I think we don't remember smell consciously because we don't think of remembering it until we don't smell it anymore. Then we're all like "Oh shit.. doesn't smell like you anymore!" This happened to me when my grandmother died. I actually didn't really do any constructive grieving until i went back into her house a few months after she died and couldn't smell her anymore. And i couldn't remember what it should smell like. I had shut down before that. That kick-started the healing

I just remember being really angry at everyone (her included..) for a few months and not really wanting to talk about it.. just wanting to move on. Losing memory is the mind's way of healing. My Dad died from cancer January 25, 2011. it was the worst day of my life. I can so relate to your words, your questions. But my Dad never smoked a cigarette in his life, which made him dying from cancer all that more sad.

thanks for this. My Dad died of cancer on Thanksgiving last year. I had him for 35 years, but it didn't seem like enough. But he's in heaven and he's in no more pain. And I know that he'll know me when I see him in heaven. :)
Just know that he does know who you are, and that he's watching over you every single day. All you have to do is call him when you need him. He'll be there for you.
The pain will always stay, he is your father. You will miss him your entire life. But he will walk you down the isle when you get married.

I can honestly say. I have never had to undergo pain such as this. But then again if you believe in after life you should know he is with god now and there is much much life after death. R.I.P. your father I feel sorry for you. This reminds me of yesterday when i told my dad i hate him. We never know what shall happen the next day and if he died i would be devestated. I am only 13 and i dont think i could even cope
I lost my dad to cancer too, even though his cancer was very rare and nothing he could have prevented. I'm sorry you lost your dad so young. I had mine until I was 27, but what I can say is that I know what it's like to know he'll never see you marry or have a real life or career, etc... I still haven't figured those things out in my late 20's. I wish I had longer... I think everyone who loses a parent just wishes they had had a little longer...

I haven't lost my dad but he's never here to begin with. It's been over 10 years since I last hugged him or told him i loved him. I'm only 15 years old. He's a heavy smoker and drinker so his health is not very stable. I miss him when he's here. I don't know what I'd do when he's not... I love you daddy I hope you know that.

This video really made me cry... I've also lost my father... when i'm still a baby... i think, i'm 5 months old... I never seen him. Because he died. When i was a kid, I would usually asked mom if dad will come back. Then she told me that he's already in heaven and would never came back, I'm jealous of those people who still have their father with them... I never toldd him "i love you"...How i wished he would come back... :(

I am sorry to hear that your father died. My father died almost two years ago (will be two years in two weeks) Losing him was the hardest thing I have ever had to face in my entire life. I still wake up every morning thinking that it means i am one day closer to seeing my dad again..I pray for you and hope that you will one day be okay.

when you think god is on your side he makes your life even worse... my mom died when 8 and my sister 17 just before my mom died my sister was so angry at her she hadnt talked to her in months! I remember sitting down in my chair so excited to go to moms than they said she died. My sister never even got to say i love you or goodbye :(

I lost my dad to cancer too, even though his cancer was very rare and nothing he could have prevented. I'm sorry you lost your dad so young. I had mine until I was 27, but what I can say is that I know what it's like to know he'll never see you marry or have a real life or career, etc... I still haven't figured those things out in my late 20's. I wish I had longer... I think everyone who loses a parent just wishes they had had a little longer...

I haven't lost my dad but he's never here to begin with. It's been over 10 years since I last hugged him or told him i loved him. I'm only 15 years old. He's a heavy smoker and drinker so his health is not very stable. I miss him when he's here. I don't know what I'd do when he's not... I love you daddy I hope you know that.

When i was a kid, I would usually asked mom if dad will come back. Then she told me that he's already in heaven and would never came back, I'm jealous of those people who still have their father with them... this song has left me in tears. my dad died a year ...3 months and 19 days ago. he was my best friend as well as my dad.
