  • One of my favorite videos....just superb. No stage performance, just very sincere and intimate with all emotions coming through.

Thanks so much for putting this up.

  • first song that I made love to!

  • Kenny Vance farted out a doo wop baby of butts

  • love it

  • Love this song...well done...AND love the background singers also. Let's give credit.

  • ...Jay Black has been my obsession since 1965..still is..

Must admit I never paid much attention to the rest of the guys in Jay and The Americans, but lately I realize how very good Kenny is. He has a sweet pure voice..still sounds like a young guy when he sings. I'm happy that he and Jay are still friends and still perform together once in a while. I really love the Planotones, but I'm not fond of the " NEW JAY " or the new Jay and the Americans..just living off Jay Black's legacy..not cool..

  • Fantastic !

  • That's what I'm talking about - Doo Wop Forever

  • FABULOUS! I can never again listen to this song by anyone else!

  • WOW! What an awesome song. Sure brings back some

memories in my life. Keep up the good work. Great post!

  • Been a doowop and oldies fan for years, started really listening to music in 1967 and have been going backwards ever since. Been a fan of Jay and the Americans for years, but just discovered Kenny Vance due to PBS special. I have murdered this song for years but thought of it only as an Iceman song. Finding this awewsome version is great. Check out Garnet Mimms version as well (and his version of Cry Baby from Janis Joplin just awesome). I will be searching for all the Kenny Vance I can find.

  • This is talent. Not the crap the kids listen to today. 30 years from now nobody can exactly hum or sing the words of the songs I hear played.

  • Thanks Kenny!!! another great one from the guy who is keepin it alive and sooo nice.... Dj

  • as good as the iceman

  • VERY TALENTED--GREAT VOICE, JOHNNY GALE IS EXCELLENT AS MUSIC DIRECTOR

  • Going to see Kenny V tonight in Wilmington. Great voice. He sings others songs better than anyone.

  • Kenny does an outstanding job with this song..its from his heart..jerry butler made this song what it is..but with kenny singing this..its just plain awesome

  • There's a Doo-Wop corner in heaven. Stop by on your way there. I will.

  • Are you kiddin' me. That was awesome.

  • The world needs more people like Kenny Vance. I think this man is a sincere musician and a true artist. With people like him doo wop will never die. I wish he would come to the West Coast sometime so I could see and hear him live.

  • Kenny..thanks for sharing your talent. I think your version of so many songs are the best I've heard. Still hope to see you live someday...I'm in the midwest.

  • absolutely the best!

  • that's the stuff........my reverb the hotrod and we are g2g

  • Wow, what a beautiful song. Those harmonies were so soulful and just carried such a beautiful tone, I just subscribed loved it = )

  • HEY KENNY. AWESOME!!! You do the IceMan proud!!!! tHE BEST i' ve ever heard.

  • Can anyone help me with the position of kapo and chord sequence ? i like trying to play and sing this stuf. I have listened to this a hundred times to get the vocals down and it is killing me .

  • capo set at D, played but played like the normal C major chord at the 1st fret area. just like plaing C am F and G on and around 1st fret ,hoped this helped had to pull out the guitar lol

  • it is in Bflat major

  • Yeah man: Thanks a lot.

  • Kenny ....

Please allow us to pay to download these great videos of that incredible voice of yours.

  • Great Voice doo wap !

Jay & the Americans were my "voice group '

  • the most beautiful love song ever written! great job as always kenny

  • is Kenny Vance from a doo wop band

  • He used to by lead singer in Jay and the Americans, now he's in KV and the Planotones.

  • Kenny wasn't the lead singer of Jay and the Americans, but he was an original member of the group.

    He has a wonderful voice.

  • Great voice, come to Cleveland, Ohio !!!!!

  • Hey, Mr. Vance....first time I heard this song was on a CD my parents bought at your concert down in Florida earlier this year....

Your version of this song blew me away; I listened to it over and over for hours the first weekend I had the song on my Mp3 player. I learned how to play it and recorded a video on my channel of my version!

    Best wishes!

  • nice singing Kenny, I am a big Gene Vincent fan and think of him when you sing this

  • @jimmy59ca never knew gene had anything to do with this song only knew Jerry Butler

  • I heard the song Here.

    Bought the CD.........

Play the CD over & Over

But still come here to enjoy the video

    Thanks Kenny........

  • Great job Kenny, he is very talented.

  • kenny awome and great singer player best to him ricky always hi kenny. hope all well

  • There is almost nothing compared to the doo wop era. If only some promoter can bring Kenny Vance and the Planetones to Maui Hawaii. Thanks for posting.

  • I'm going to see him in a Richard Nader show on March 8 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. You should go to Nader's website and send them an email.

  • Thanks for responding. I'll check it out. Tom Moffet Productions usually brings a few Doo Wop groups, but I guess because they have to pay the groups to fly from the mainland they usually bring only 3-4 groups to Honolulu, but only 1 or 2 to Maui. and not often enough.

  • Maui Hawaii !!!!!!!!!

We want him to tour Australia !!!!

Yes I know how you feel.

    Isn't he GREAT

Kenny Vance Come To ..AUSTRALIA.. Please.

  • Beautiful.

  • The videos of him are great, but there is nothing like seeing him perform them live. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever met and one of the best singers I have ever heard. His passion and respect for the music is amazing.

  • Fantastic!!!!

  • THANK YOU MELISSA G.

  • Your rendition of For Your Precious Love is so

great. You sing it so beautifully and tenderly.

  • Your singing of Your Precisous Love gave me goose bumps. You have such a range - what a gift.

  • I can't believe I missed him growing up. I'm a doo wop nut and listen to all kinds of stuff. He's unbeliveable. I've just bought tickets to see him in concert in March. I hope I get to talk to him and tell him just how good he is. He's right up there with the best.

  • Comment removed

  • He is amazing.A rare pleasure to see him perform.

  • Kenny is just fantastic and I think what I love most is his love of the music and the times it came from. Just beautiful, as all doo wop is to us oldies but goodies.

  • I saw them live they are awesome.

  • "jAMING ON THE ONE" KENNY THANKX.....Garnet Mimms has a beautiful version too.....

  • beautiful, Kenny sounds magical!

  • way tooooooooooooo good! thanks for sharing

  • As I learned in French class back in the day Chacon a son gout; to each his own taste. You are neither right nor wrong and neither am I. It"s a matter of taste and opinion. Mr. Vance is still adorable and yes, I know how old he is.

  • really good version, but sorry. not better than original...btw Aaron Neville has a great version of this, also

  • I loved Jerry Butler's rendition of this song but Kenny's version is absolutely beautiful! Kenny has such g-dgiven talent and I can"t wait to see one of his concerts. I have heard he is a really nice person in addition to being a fantastic musician.

  • Kenny has the best voice for doo woop. First saw him on PBS special and have been a fan ever since. This song is close to my heart and i'am overwhelmed everytime i listen to it. better then the original.

  • There should be a thousand more like him! God, I love this music.

  • Great stuff! He treats the classic Doo Wop from the mid 1950's to the early 1960's with respect!

  • Kenny Vance is one very talented guy. Well done and a beautiful song.

  • This performance has that perfect "slow dancin' around the gym with my sweetie" sound. It makes me feel like a teenager again...well, almost. The song has been one of my favorites forever, but Kenny's version is absolutely haunting. I usually hit the replay button at least twice before I move on to something else.

  • Tell ya what kids, I'm 62 years of age and Kenny Vance has sent shivers down my spine for 45 years. Kenny, (Kenneth Rosenberg) is now 65 years old and STILL has one of the greatest doowop voices of all-time..For Kenny's newer admirers, you really must download songs like "This I Swear", "He Will Break Your Heart", "Please Say You Want Me", " I Only Have Eyes For You" and "Gloria".

  • this song is soo associated with Jerry Butler that i actually hesitate to listen to others singing it.But you just nailed it.your sound on this song is haunting.well done

  • One of the greatest songs of all times.. Wish i had it in Karoeke style

  • Kenny, you are so great! I listen to your songs over and over. You take me to a dream world with your voice, and bring back such memories of the the good old days!

  • Drop dead GORGEOUS!!!! What a fabulous performance and incredible vocal! THUD! I'm on the floor! Thanks so much!

  • We came to the Richard Nader concert in Fort Myers Fl. and you are the greatest!!!! What a voice!! Annmled

  • Hey Kenny, Great sounds you bring back many memories of our great years gone by. They were very special days at a very time in our lives, My wife of 40 years and I thank you for that great Harmondy. P.S. Dont ever quit.

  • im 64 bklyn boy you got me cryin

  • AWESOME!!! What more can I say!!!

  • A Passionate voice---you are really, well no words can describe it! One of a kind...you make it look so easy...I LUV DOO WOP and recorded "In the still of the Night" for YOUTUBE on an H4 digital recorder with no help...

  • Nice!!!!

  • I have seen Kenny many times here in NY. He always steals the show. There is no better doo wop talent then Kenny and the Planotones

  • Damn, boy! You cut it, man. Sweet! Well done. Very nice.

  • AMAZING.. thank God for Kenny Vance and keeping the music alive !! Terrific rendition

Kenny Vance was one of the originals Jay and the Americans he sang in the background I loved jay black, but it conceals the talents of Kenny !!

Kenny is also involved in movies and the music coordinated and singer too. Find the movie "looking for an Echo" Amazing. He also had a lot to do with the music in Eddie and the Cruisers

  • If you can't feel special with this rendition, you have no soul. I want to take my wife and dance with her, over and over. Takes me back. Kenny Vance is truly gifted. Looking forward to seeing him in July when we travel to NYC. Wherever he is, within reason, the drive will be worth it. All the way from Oklahoma, looking forward to his performance and the memory he will create.

  • Kenny will be singing at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford,NJ with Doo Wop Richard Nader Show. I can't wait to go, I'll drive from Nashville to NJ. 6/14/08. Also Mel Carter, my very favorite artist. Also B.J.Thomas,Lou Christie,The Chiffon, Eugene Pitt and the Jive Five. And The Duprees, unfortunalely with out the Fantastic Lead Richie Rosato. I can't wait, the fans also tailgate hrs early in the parking lot and met and greet with performers. It should be a ball!!

  • Tommy, this goes from me to you baby.

  • ahhh, this song is cure for my falled in love heart ;)

  • When I first heard Kenny sing this A Cappella in Ruth Eckerd Hall in Tampa I thought that he sounded almost as good as Jerry Butler's original version. I went home and listened to the original. There is no doubt in my mind that Kenny's version is much better! His singing of Your Way is awesome. Of course, my favorite is Looking for an Echo-Ira

  • Your music is the most moving and heart wrenching stuff I've ever heard. It brings me to tears and all I wanna do is dance to it in the arms of someone I love.....like you, Kenny.

  • As good as he sounds here, and, yes, he sounds very good, you have to see the man in person. I was totally mesmerized when he sang this at a show I attended in August, 2007.

  • A terrific job.

  • We saw Kenny and the planotones at The Salute To The Classics concert, an annual Pittsburgh, PA oldies concert. They put on a great show. Most people don't realize the expansive career that Kenny has had in many different parts of the music industry. Keep up the great work.

  • saw and praised this cover in fort lee nj we met after show we are both from brooklyn fellow lead singer teardrops you were explaining hand operation to friend remember! anyway best ive heard rock on

  • I saw him in Stratford CT and he was awesome! His warm up act called Flashback was excellent too. Catch them if you can...a real nice event.

  • An amazing performer. Don't miss the chance to see him onstage. Beautiful voice and engaging personality.

  • Why can't you come to Australia, Kenny? I absolutely LOVE your music. It's exactly my cup of tea. Please come.

  • Hey Kenny Vance-- Ronny's big brudda.

Great talent AND passion AND a holy man. May you continue to have a long succesful career and make lots of people fall in love....

  • What a sweet, sweet sound! As an oldie myself, I love this song and the outstanding job that Mr. Vance does with the words. The words just seem to melt out of his mouth and the backup music is perfect, never overwhelming the beauty of the vocals like so many of today's groups do. This is one of my favorite videos and I play it over and over, full blast on my speakers. Not hard of hearing, just love the sound.

  • Mr. Kenny Vance.......

We saw you sing last evening at the State Theatre in Easton, PA.

WOW!!!!! Your voice is spectacular and you are a fantastic performer. You thrilled us tremendously!

  • Wow!!! what a beautiful voice you have Mr.Vance, I'll have to see you perform live!! Somewhere, somehow. thank you Lorna

  • a great, great version of this classic. I think for musicians, they just want to touch and connect with people. At least Youtube is another outlet for people to hear their music.

Thanks for posting this sweet song.

  • Proud that we are both from Brooklyn.

  • i will never get tired of this video..amazing.

    thanks Kenny you are great.

  • good show

  • Great!! One of the most versatile performers ever!!

  • Your music is so beautiful Kenny! This song makes me want a special set of arms around me.

  • Kenny, what a great soulful version of this classic.

  • The best friend I ever hope to have gave me a tape of this song years ago. This precious rendition made me cry like a baby and touched my heart. Thanks

  • Why is a man of his talent and stature playing in a venue like that? It is the curse of musicians to have to endure terrible venues, and this seems to be one of the worst. At least, though, people were listening and gave him some applause at the end. The second curse of musicians playing in such venues is that very few people actually listen. Once, playing on a dismal Thursday night, I caught the pianist's eye: 'Look', I said 'there must be 70 people here, and not one of them is listening'.

  • I AM LISTENING...

  • Kenny's voice and rendition came directly from his Heart and Soul, you can tell. It moves you...

  • The definitive version of this often-recorded song is by Jerry Butler and the Impressions. Regardless of the talent of the singers of other versions, the always fail to reach the bar. Kenny Vance and his backup singers in a less than desirable setting surpasses any other version I've heard. He has always shown great respect for the music of this era, but I've never heard him in better voice. Bravo Kenny.

  • WOW !! 99% as good as Jerry Butler.

  • Saw Jerry Butler do this in '64 at the Howard Theatre in D.C. He'd applaud this rendition, as do I. Right ON, Brother!

  • What a fantastic version best by far really gets ya

  • I bet Jerry Butler is a fan too!! thank you Kenny!!

  • Kenny,

WOW...you just blew me away with that vocal! I can say without a doubt that your rendition is superior (in my opinion) to the original. Thanks for the memories!

    Johnny

  • Great vibe (then and now.) The "Countdown to Love" recently posted is also worth a view, not to mention the rest of the Kenny Vance clips up here. So many great performances, and still rockin' today. Awsome!

  • WOW!!! Kenny Vance. What an outstanding performance. The soul can be felt. The guy is wonderful. My girl friend came in form the other room, put her arms around me as we listened. Ain't love great. thanks Kenny!!!

  • why's a great singer like kenny doing this for tips against a wall in a restaurant? I'd have paid $500 for dinner with my wife while kenny singin' to us for a few hours. Also saw him on the PBS doo wop shows on TV.

  • I completely agree with leftyduke here. What a talent! There are many who would pay big bucks to attend a performance like this.

  • how i wish i was 15 again..great song.,

  • Geeze...this sound admidst adinner crowd... kenny and the guys just had to FOCUS! and what an incredible thing! That sound!

    Wonderful...liked the back-up sound too.

  • respect , clapssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss this is a song it made me cry

  • I know the feeling.. tears are rolling now.. this song is so beautiful and yet sad...Kathy

  • I watched this just the other day and this version has stayed in my head ever since, kenny if you read any of this bravo to you ....you rock

  • Amazing....would make Jerry Butler proud ! Does

    a really nice job.

  • better then original, seems what ever he picks to sing it's the bestthat song was ever done.

  • Absolutely fantastic ! Kenny truly is "The Man"

  • Kenny, your the man!!!!

  • Wow..Kenny is the man!!!

  • Sweet song and a beautiful performance (as always). So glad I have this to play to my 2 & 4 year old boys wherever I have internet, but theres nothing like a live show. We'll see you again soon!

  • this is a real treat. Kenny sounds better than ever. I was just watching some Jay and the Americans from shindig and Kenny had so much COOL! And you know what, he still does with songs like this.

  • WOW. Gives me chills. Thanks Kenny for posting that.

  • Great song, great performance.

  • he obviously has so much respect for the music of that era. His knowledge allows him to pick the best of that era

  • Great group - Can't understand why this group is not much better known. Have 3 of their CD's and and they are all super. Great crusing music for my '67 GTO.
