I don't think you'd ever see it. You deal with it blindly, trial and error kind of thing till you attain certain amount of practice enabling you to reduce it properly. Or that's what I think.

@bhavya4289 A full coverage retainer was not needed on the premolar. There was sufficient retention provided by the full coverage retainer on the molar. Nowadays we would probaby just provide a rest seat on a premolar. This is to be conservative to tooth tissue. Also the buccal emamel on the premolar was preserved since it is more likey to be seen when the patient smiles.
Why was there no porcelain put over the metal on the bridge? I have two bridges and mine have porcelain over the metal making all 3 teeth on each bridge white.
@Taaurrus Placing porcelain over the bridge increases its thickness, so greater reduction of tooth tissue is required. It is usually done in patients who want the bridges colour to blend in with the tooth colour when they smile. Less reduction of tooth tissue is better then more reduction, so in patients where aestheics aren't a concern, especially since this is in the back of the mouth, it it better to do them in just metal.
@irfanyaz B'coz supragingival margins are easier to be kept clean by the patient and don't cause recession (if subgingingival margins impinge on the biological width they can increase chances of recession). The advantage of subgingival margins compared to supra is use of more clincal crown height (which can aid retention)and aesthetics.
