Look at channel tuin699 and if anyone still thinks this guy is legit after watching these tapes is crazy. Either your a cool aid drinker or you know nothing about ground fighting!
Amci06040, I'm not a black belt in judo at Mr shamrocks school, but from a different school called impact judo in the bay area. Even if your a black belt you start white again if its a different school. So I'm not qualified to teach his black belt class but I am qualified to teach brown belt judo and below and black belt BJJ and his hybrid wrestling class. I can't wait to put the vidz up our kids are amazing in shape and kick ass!
Amci06042,To answer your question on Tony being a fraud is far because clearly you are a fan. But I also think Jake is a fraud. Lol I think both are pretending to be catch wrestler to make money from selling DVDs. And that explains the heated and silly back and forth. Do you see Ken going to war with Sakuruba online about who's Catch wrestling is better? Hell no cause there the real deal.
@b7r7u7c7e I'm not sure if your getting annoyed if I defend Tony. Anyway this is your post on other video "Even though I'm a brown belt in BJJ and a black belt in judo my early training came from Frank Shamrock" then your post here " even though I'm a Black belt in BJJ and judo I did get my Catch training from Frank and Ken shamrock in the mid 90's. " I'm not sure now what to believe in you sir.
Here is what blows your argument away. I think Tony AND Jake are suspect. What I notice from reading past post is IF ANYONE says something bad about Tony they MUST be from that website by Jack. You know maybe *GaSp* some aren't from that evil website and *GaSp* just by looking at his videos think hes not legit. Happens all the time, on thousands of OTHER websites, its called OPIONION! Your paranoid is odd and strange your going to look silly when I post vidz and show u who I am lol
b7r7u7c7e When that happens I will apologize for the mistake however I it wont stop me from defending Tony. Neither will it stop you from criticizing him. Fair is fair. Let me know when you have your video. Thanks
Amci06042 even though I'm a Black belt in BJJ and judo I did get my Catch training from Frank and Ken shamrock in the mid 90's. So I am knowledgeable on it. The style of catch that Frank was teaching at the time(He no longer teaches catch)was more Japanese/Fujiwara/Billy Robinson style. So on the ground it was a sambo/judo wrestling based. So from my point of view this looks wrong what Tony is doing. So instead of acusing everyone of having an agenda just debate the topic like a normal person.
@b7r7u7c7e Debate is fine is sir, but your other posts you mentioned that you think he is a fraud. That is an allegation that is hard to prove. If you want to discuss techniques and styles its fine. But to accuse and make allegations that I think is wrong. Guys like Hector did the same and the two of you sounded the same.
Amci06042, My school were I teach is based in San Jose why would I go to Tonys gym? This is not a kung Fu movie I'm simply giving my opinion and will back it up when I post my videos. It will be some video of myself, Frank, Smith(former UFC champ & King of Pancrase)and Vernon white. Even though these guys have injuries we roll live unlike this guy.
Amci06042, Why is it when someone questions this guy you think there from some wrestling website? This is youtube and just about every grappling video has people giving there opinions. Lol Relax take a deep breath its just a video. I'm a black belt BJJ teacher at Frank Shamrock Martial Art Academy in San Jose. I teach I don't sell videos. lol But I will have vidz up soon.
@b7r7u7c7e Like what I said in your previous post on other videos my suspicion radar is up due to following things: 1. You said you think Tony is a fraud. 2. You said you posted then got deleted by Cecchinecatch ( other video you said your student) 3. You said 98% doesnt know Tony 4. You only post on Tony's videos. Now I have discussions with a lot of guys here who basically said the same as you did. As I have always suspected HE came from Scientific Wrestling. Debate is fine, allegations nope
I'm sorry but I do NOT believe BJJ black belts could not submit Cecchine but he made them cry uncle. That sounds like that guy who always comes to my school saying he's 100 and 0 in street fights and gets NTFO by my Muay Thai instructor or RNCed by my yellow belt. lol let me take a wild guess there is no tape of this...however I can see countless video of 16yrd Gracie submitting Olympic wrestler. Or Rener Gracie submitting 30 police men and 40 marines in less then an hour!
@b7r7u7c7e You remind me of someone, someone who betrayed Tony. For you who just joined you tube (July 2011) and then bad mouths Tony. You are NOT doing anything else but targets Tony. Let me guess - Mr. J**E!
OMG don't you have enough? Why your dvds are not selling anymore or Tonys popularity is threatening your business?
@b7r7u7c7e Go to Chicago like you did before, you can't roll with Tony cause he gonna smoke you. What school are you btw? Scientific wrestling? He he he
I've put in close to 21 hours of grappling this week and not one white belt lay ed on there side in my guard. They correctly put there hands on my stomic leaning back arms extended. I had to reach up for head and arm control...its chess not checkers lol Who trained Tony in catch? Very curious.
Close guard so he can't pass. This is vital & with all due respect basic stuff. This is BAD positioning plan & simple. He then needs to put his feet in the back of his feet simultaneously holding his arm and head down keeping everything tight.(The guy is already on Tony side? Not gonna happen in real fight)At this point snake right hand over back simultaneously left hand grab wrist pull arm to ear to finish. No need to lab leg with this technique rang of motion is shorter.
@b7r7u7c7e Will you roll live with Tony? I would like to record that on video? Please let me know if you plan to roll with him in Chicago so we can show in you tube what you are saying. Gotta walk the talk man!
I'm a BJJ guy & this is the best demonstration of finishing the kimura from guard that I've seen. Since doing it this way, sparring partners are either tapping or getting reversed to mount every time.
People need to realise that good grappling is good grappling, bad grappling is bad grappling and great grappling is great grappling. It doesn't matter whether it's labeled catch, sambo, BJJ, Judo, Black Belt etc. If it works, do it.
Been doing BJJ, Judo, and some wrestling for awhile just started a couple of months already instead people arguing about which is a better martial art or whatever it is your arguing about. To me in my own opinion, i think it would be better if you learned both catch wrestling and bjj i think it would be great if you learned how to do both by that way you will be able to do all kinds of submissions and positions. To me i like to keep things open minded, the more you know the better i say.
Sakuraba was a catch wrestler and made four bjj black belts cry, I think their last name was Gracie. My brother roles with Garth Spendiff who got his black belt directly from Relson who is the most decorated Gracie. I would say do not discount either. Josh Barnett is another wrestler, I know MMA is different, but if you look at some the competitions, catch wrestlers do quite well
I dunno, Catch Wrestling is equal equivalent. I am black belt in Japanese Jujitsu and did take a seminar in catch wrestling. The are very effective. Some will like it some don't.
After watching some of the clips from Tony, I realize that Tony knows what he's doing. I also realize that given the growing number of people using grappling arts, I should leave people alone. I don't want want Tony could done to Bruce, done to me in the street. I could imagine the significant damage to my bones if someone violently turned as he demonstrates.
I have ACA's Submission Fighting for Amateur Wrestlers in the mail right now.
The Lost Art of Hooking will definitely be my next catch wrestling instructional purchase! So many people have said LAOH is a great video series. Furthermore, I have never read anything by detractors about this series save the part about Tony abusing his wrestling partners.
check ebay bro, i got it real cheap on ebay. and it's worth 3 times the price. fact is, tony's stuff really does hurt as bad as you see on Bruce's face lol
putting it to his back is what you want to do in order to take the power away from the guy's arm. You want to glue it to the guy's back hip out THEN you can twist it as this guy shows.
This technique of arcing out, rather than taking it up the back, is 100% correct. They tap VERY quickly. In fact, sometimes they don't have time to tap and it stings their shoulder a bit. I also like the idea of getting into the position more with your legs, rather than sitting up, hip-bump style. That will work, but it's often more of a fight.
I have never seen this particular tip taugh by anyone else, and I've seen many jiu-jitsu DVDs and rolled in many gyms.
This is pretty much no different than I have learned it in my Jiu Jitsu school. You can still effect the wrist twist from the money grip and it is actually a stronger grip for twisting then the wrist than the fingers closed around the wrist (think monkey wrench as apposed to a rope wrapped around a bolt). There is more play in the fingers wrapped around. Try it on yourself and you guys will see the difference. The fingers are stronger when all 5 are lined up and gripping together.
Some guys teach the technique wrong. That's the bottom line. I've seen Sambo, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, and Catch instructors do it wrong. I've watched ALOT of Tony's videos and he is phenomenal on details!!!
from what i hear if it wasnt for tony, jake shannon woulda never heard of catch. he's lucky he got hooked up with Dick Cardinal and Billy Robinson (and Fujiwara)
@1Jedthered Jake went for 1 week training with Tony then betrayed him. He deceived Tony and he deceived people for cash. I have nothing against him just stating a fact.
@kempobrad Thats true, and believe it or not he was doing certification with someone from the Canada who turned out to be not a real catch wrestler. When it was exposed Jake quietly cleaned his website without saying anything.
@1Jedthered Yes trying to promote catch after putting Tony down. He went to Chicago and trained for a week, after that he attacked Tony and bad mouthed him. His certification expert came from Canada who turned out to be a fraud. Then he went to Dick Cardinal and Billy Robinson. But the truth be told he cashed in for bad mouthing Tony. Sad case of deception and betrayal.
@TheDotComKid84 Unfortunately these techniques take greater strength to apply but hurt more and faster. But jujutsu works for the average weaker guy. Also if you notice catch wrestling they dont use the guard or any type, Look at his keylock, theres no guard so you can ROLL OUT easily lol remember when Ken shamrock(catch wrestling) early UFC had Gracie roll out and on top of him kuz of that lol
@anhkhoinguyen This is entirely untrue, and it bespeaks a total ignorance about hooking. Hooking, because it applies proper technique and leverage, actually requires less strength than, eg., a monkey-gripped Kimura. Here, you are controlling your opponent with both of your legs. If you aren't, you aren't doing it correctly.
@anhkhoinguyen try rolling out from Tony when he does this to you. Remember he is doing it slowly, if he is doing this at full speed no time to roll or tap.
@TheDotComKid84 how do figure this is better than bjj. you dont even grapple do u? i originally started out cath wrestling then did bjj and bjj showed me a world of things unknown to catwrestling/langshire wrestling what ev. a solid black belt even a purle belt would make tony cry. do u even know anything about bjj??? not bein a dick i just disagree with your comment
@RDbushi There's nothing worse than assholes on the internet making claims they will never in a million years back up. Tony shot a series with a BJJ and JJ black belt. He's wrestled many a BJJ guy. And surprise! -- they never made Tony cry. Go away. People like you are the reason the internet has become a cesspool. And yes, you are being a dick. Just because you say you aren't doesn't make it so.
@RDbushi Sorry to say burst you bubble sir but there had been a lot people BBJ black belt and all the rolled with Tony. They never made Tony tap but they cried uncle.
