@KevDoFresh I always felt that using already existing songs for the movie showed how universal music is - and that sometimes, to get a point across, you don't need a new song. The point you're trying to make is not new, so the music doesn't need to be new either. In the end, I think the point of music is to transfer emotions; and because of that, I don't have a problem with person A using music from person B to transfer the same emotion, I think it's sometimes better than writing new music.

I think they made it original by reinterpreting and reanimating a bunch of really good music--they even devoted some high-profile actors to it. :3 I think that and the brilliance of the movie overall convey a lot of respect to the original artists, no?

i was in the theatre for moulin rouge back in 2001 and when i heard Jim Broadbent saying "another hero another mindless crime" a smile a scary grin was on my face . i started singing queen's show must go on and a guy next to me looked at me and said " thats the fucking spirit " and he started singing aswell with me . one of the best moments i had watching a film !
