S'not travelling. It's like a hop step, when you bounce it that's when you jump and then pick up the ball. If that makes sense, but if you do this wrong it will end up being a travel.

so it's kinda like doing a power hop

If you do it right, the first and second step should be the plant

the third one should be the jumper

its not a travel because he still has his dribble when he goes behind his back. He picks up the dribble on the step back (the ball has bounced on the floor, behind his back and then he catches it and THEN steps back), which in itself is only one step.

1st step is when you gather the ball.

2nd and 3rd step is before your shot/layup/dunk.

No, I also don't think the step back hop is counted as two steps because both feet are in the air. Like if you take a hop step and your feet don't land in synch, it still counts as a hop step and no travel would be called. At least that's what I think.
