  • He's a lefty, lefty are awkward but R.A Salvatore is the exception

  • i dont get the drizzt hype, especially with artemis entreri arround who is way cooler.

  • @p0RnStaRalpha That's the point. That's what makes it a good series.

  • I read through "The Crystal Shard" faster than any other triology I have ever read. Just fantastic!

  • I always pronounced Drizzt, (Drizz-it)

Never knew it was Dritts until now :0

  • @Bouncest2 same and i wont be changing my pronunciation...lol

  • he allways has the same shirt on interviews )) bob salvatore rocks, best writter ever

  • One of my favourite authors! :) I adore his Drizzt Books. I'm finishing up one of his books right now. <3

  • purple hair for the win agreed

  • PURPLE HAIR! FTW not WTF ;)

  • RA Salvatore sounds like a really nice down to earth guy. I'd like to have a beer with him and talk about his books.

  • he just recently signed with Wizards of the Coast for 6 more books =D

  • fantastic interview, first time I've heard Bob Salvatore speak and I've been reading Drizzt for about 20 years, what a treat, thank you Bob for years of joy, always love re-reading, always see different things :D

  • ra salvatore is from my home town of leominster, massachusetts!

  • RA Salvatore pronounces Drow like "grow", not like "cow"

  • i want Kozahs needle!!

  • Comment removed

  • PURPLE HAIR!

     WHAT THE FUCK!

  • I have loved RA's books since he first became a published author. His affinity for action and description has inspired my own creative style. I can only hope my own book, titled Demon Gates, becomes 1/100th as popular as any of his books. You can check it out at amazon's kindle store, or at smashwords.

    Cheers, and long live R.A.!

  • death gate or legend of drizzt?

  • R.A Salvatore is one of the best writers in fantasy of all time.

  • i love hw hes not afraid to take risks....he'll fuckin kill anybody in his book!! u never know who is gonna survive his trilogies

  • I can't believe this whole time I've been pronouncing it 'Drizziht', even though I know there was no extra I.

  • @distilledlove Did you ever read the name? Drizzt. There is no extra i.

  • @trancer2412 Yes, I have read the name and I am aware there is no extra 'I'. It's the two 'Z's' that I saw and ended up pronouncing it that way the first time I read it. I just always put a tiny pause between the 'z' and the 't' and that made me say the 'i' that isn't there. Doesn't really make sense, but it's just the way I perceived it when I first saw it.

  • @distilledlove i just pronounce it Dritz

  • @distilledlove Lol I did the same thing and eventually I looked closer and found out it was Drizzt....but I still called him Drizzit :p

  • @mitchellboeck Haha, glad I'm not the only one. Yeah, it's a hard habit to break. :-p

  • She is just gorgeous. Very luscious.

  • i started with the crystal shard, and it wasnt till after i finished reading the second book in the hunter's blades trilogy that i went back and read the first 3, it still all made sense though

  • i have to get that book ima be sad wen the saga is over

  • i just started reading Drizzt's last year and im done with the Icewind Dale trilogy...and i have to say i LOVE his battle scenes...just the way he describes every detail of that certain battle thats taken place at that time...just outstanding...

  • I never read much fantasy before. But I started reading George RR Martin and now i can't be arsed with any other kind of book. Just ordered the Drizzt trilogy so I hope they're good.

  • we need a movie!!!

  • @cragyypoo without a doubt, i don't understand why there isn't one yet

  • He's a very well spoken author. No wonder his books are such a good read.

  • I love his opinion about heroes. I feel the same way. :)

  • he is a total legend! :D x This woman doesn't know how lucky she is! x

  • @Raichu234 She knows :-)

  • That was an enlightening & informative interview. Particularly in light of Salvatores books, and the experience of being a fantasy writer. Cool, thx.

  • should i start the legend of drizzt series with the orc king?

  • Start with homeland.

  • i would start with the icewindale trilogy... but either way works ive read all of the books twice already besides the transitions series, done it both ways.

  • wolfgar dies lol sorry to ruin it for you

  • OMG this guy is amazing. he is my favourite authour. Drizzt is legendary! x

  • I love Drizzt but I think he should leave Cattie Brae alone. She should go back to Wolfgar.

  • Jarlaxle and Entreri are like my favourite characters in this entire series, I sooooo hope Entreri returns for some post-Transitions adventures.

  • yea thats true, I started with sojourn and Was able to guess at every thing that happened before hand easily. Even still when i went back to read the previous books they were all the more interesting. Truly a great series. Can't wait to read my next one in line.

  • when Bob said that you could start anywhere in his series and not be lost he is absolutely right. I personally started with "The Silent Blade". My L.A. Teacher recommended it to me and I picked it up one day. I think that book was one of the best books I had ever read. =P

  • i started with "legacy" then read back wards then i started reading the hunters blade trilogy. You really can start any where.

  • Cloud Strife = dirt bag confirmed.

  • Luke Gross (see Hell Boy 2) would be the best Drizzt for a Dark Elf Trilogy movie.

  • i fell in love with these series, started in 2004 on Home world exile and sojourn and than onto ice wind dale trilogy and than legacy of the drow, anyone who enjoys these books i highly recommend reading the Belgariad book and the malorean by David eddings...very good as well but 10 books in total.

  • he's right, you can start on ANY book. the first one i read was the thousand orcs and picked up on it quick enough. if i ever got a chance to go to a signing thats the one i'd bring with me!

  • Yo I did the Exact thing Hes talking about in the intervew I read the hunters blade trilogy first then i read the legend of drizzt

  • You and me both, dude. And the Hunter's Blade TRilogy was awesome. They were actually the first fantasy books I ever read through to the end. And to this day I've only done that with Salvatore books. Should say something about how great an author he is.

  • you suck

  • Alaskan aand Lord hahah 2 nerds fighting equaly doesnt do u any good.... break it up?? yall are equal each of u are right theres no point into this and Alaskans right you cant look for a word thats not real?? Opnion wtf is that....

  • only chuck norris is badass enough to play drizt, but the only thing is he doesnt look like him =\

  • Everything can be fixed with face-paint, a shave, and CGI. ;-)

  • A LOD movie could be a better fantasy movie then LOTR

  • Done right that is;)

  • If Salvatore did a movie he should get howard shore to do the music. a drizzt movie and shores music pure epicness. is that even a word? epicness

  • a drizzt movie wud be freaking godly

  • .... yeah... but.. not like eragon's please..

  • in the right directors hand ..maybe. but i've seen enough film adaptations to dread hollywood getting their grubby hands on anything drizzit related

  • dude's got some guns

  • This is one of the best books I've ever read keeps you in the moment like Eric Nylund or Darren Shan, but this stands out I think and will be remembered and as it should be READ BY ALL! lol 5/5

  • Keep reading, it will soon be very low on the list of "Best Books."

  • What was the point of that comment? It is in fact a best seller. Maybe you should go back and read what I said "one of the best books I've ever read " And no it wont ever be very low on m ylist of "Best Books" Think before you type.

  • Well, by saying "It's one of the best books I've ever read" it obviously implies you aren't very... well-read. Also, "it won't ever be low on my list" pretty much concludes your level of literary competency.

  • This whole comment of yours does one thing, marks you as an elitist who is not worth the time of anyone else.

Do yourself a favor, go get a dictionary, and look up the word Opnion.

  • I <3 it when people barge into conversations that don't concern them. While I go grab a dictionary -which is conveniently right next to me- and fruitlessly look up "opnion" (which isn't even a word,) you can go get that big fucking nose of yours fixed.

You know what else I love? I love hypocrites. Sure, call me an elitist... that's fine. But you're the god damn hypocrite, which is invariably worse. You tell me I'm not worth any time, yet here you are.. wasting your time with me.

    -rolls eyes-

  • If your going to insult me, go ahead, I don't care, but at least try to do so in a way thats actually going to tick me off a bit. The fact that your mad, while I'm not, means I win.

    Have an enjoyable day.

  • stfu alaskan. your dumb

  • r.a salvatore the best

  • reading between the lines it seems salvatore is not truely happy with the way things have panned out numerous times he has been forced to change things he truely wanted, in away he has the worst job of all in that he has no real control over his works. to me he had really started to pick up with cattie brie and drizzt becoming lovers (about damn time) yet now it seems to be hurried to wrap up 18 books into 3 and then shift it 104 years later with no real conclusion...yet.

  • great , especially loved the icewind dale trilogy and three books on Artemis!

  • I loved his Icewind Dale trilogy

  • Salvatore rules and Drizzt is one of the best heroes ever!

  • absolutly

  • i know right now i understand how you cant live in a world that rejects integrity...

  • cattie brie may have been alive, she went all wizard at the end of OK but wulfgar would be dead and probably bruenor too

  • Whoa, he's not as nerdy as I imagined lol. Cool.

  • drizzt is too much of a goody goody

  • He is the best author of our time and his creations are works of art. Drizzt is the best of the best when it comes to heros. He does have a point when he says that the guy with the biggest done is no hero...but a dirt bag. Had a good laugh at that lol. Anyway...this is a good interview with a master fantasy author and I salute the his works and his dedication to bringing us the best hero we've ever seen.

  • I suddenly have fallen in love with blue haired women! R.A. Is such an awesome writer, I can't wait for Pirate King!

  • i cant wait for the cover to come out

  • I love all of R. A. Salvaotre's Drizzt books and wonder if anyone has read the book his son Geno wrote with R. A. Salvatore, Stowaway? If anyone has read this, please let me know, I'm looking for something for my daughter to get inot and wanted to know what people thought.

  • I *really* wanna see a CGI movie on these books.

  • Everything he has written is gold. Now the Sky's the limit with Wulfgar. Not that I didn't like Colson but she bored me. I didn't care.

  • why the fuck is colson not with wulfgar, im so pissed and sad after just reading the scene :(

  • It would serve that Ed Greenwood right if Elminster got killed. His books are terrible! Especially the ones about Elminster!

  • Ed had some good stuff, but not the Elminster books...yuck.

  • oh, and I want to marry that interviewer. She's gorgeous. Love the blue hair...and a chick who's also a DND geek...shwing!!!

  • I love what Salvatore's doing and his style. His books have a more gritty edge to them and Drizzt has to be one of the best characters to emerge in fantasy in decades.

  • This chick looks like Olivia Munn. And Salvatore is fucking built!

  • i didnt know ra salvatore was so big. i spose when u make that much money off books u just go to the gym and shit what a beast

  • lol, thought the same thing, so funny

  • The Orc King was cool, but [spoilers] I don't like it that now Cattie Brie is adept at magic. [/spoilers]

    But still, very good book.

  • we dont know that for sure, although it seems it may go that way. I think she will heal though, cause her and Drizzt needs to have kids.

  • Yeah, they really do need to have kids.

Also, Colson needs to be back with Wulfgar.

  • After he went through all that trouble bringing her back? Not quite sure R.A. will take it that way, but who knows?

Does anyone else get the impression this girl has never read a R.A. book? lol

  • Dude, three things:

    1. Yes, I've read lots of Salvatore books (The Cleric Quintet being the lamest saga, in my opinion, that he has written).

    2. Yeah, Wulfgar went to all that trouble to give Colson back to her real mother, but he shouldn't have done that in the first place. Wulfgar was cool as a father and a husband, and I didn't like it that Salvatore took all of that away in two books.

    3. I'm not a girl, man.

  • lol, that wasent directed at you. I was refering to the girl who was interviewing R.A.

I guees I should of made that more clear.

  • Ah, OK. No probs, then.

  • I agree with you on point number two. Colson should've stayed with Wulfgar, and poor Delly should not have been killed off. After all Wulfgar's been through, doesn't he deserve to have some happyness? First tortured by a demon, then battleing alcholism, now loosing his family. Give the guy a break, Salvatore.

  • i totaly wish that instead of wulfgar coming back Zak did because for Drizzt to have his father back would b totaly awesome and learning more about him and things like that would b so more intresting then plain ol wulfgar

  • i think wulfgar had to change to make the path clear for Drizzt and Cattie-brie.

had wulfgar NOT changed, the chances for them to be together would have been nil. i hated the change too, but like RA Salvatore says, he had this story planned, so it had to happen =/

  • The legend of Drizzt is my favorite book series, don't get me wrong, but after Wulfgar came back he was a real dick. His character sucked. That is my only problem with the whole series, though.

  • i love all the drizzt books. the 1 thing i totaly hated was when wulfgar came back.

  • it wont play

  • just finished this book.really cool

  • it wont play

  • Salvatore's in a top shape as always.

  • omg i be too coool

  • That girl is really hot.

  • I agree

  • I don't

  • What was one of his influences? Frizt ...what did he say? I must read those books now. Anything that influenced or is in any way related to Bob I MUST READ! Please message me!

  • Fritz Leiber. The series is called Lankhmar, after the world/setting of the novels. The series is also known by its two protagonists Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser. The first book is titled "Swords and Deviltry". The series is currently published by DH Books Press. Search for any of these terms on Google, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Chapters, or your favorite book site.

  • R.A. Salvatore is a really cool guy. Check out his wubba wubba story (also on you-tube) In his book "The Highwayman," Oliver is named after his dog. Quite funny. At least i think so, he said in an interview on of his characters is named after his dog. I still have to read Highwayman :P

  • I get the feeling that this chick hasn't read a word of Salvatore's work and has no idea who his characters are.

  • OMG! So not true!

  • The end of the Orc King is set a hundred years ahead so what "small" changes is he planning?

    Wulfgar goes bad?

  • I'd expect Wulfgar to be dead...
