I have to know one thing; is Christopher Miller still the voice of Professor Layton in this game (I assume you've seen the credits)? He had the perfect voice for Layton in the first 2 games, but something just seems off about his voice in this game.

@DavidHazuki Yes, he is. He probably altered his voice in this particular scene because Layton is supposed to be younger. And I think it's also the emotions that Layton is finally showing that kinda throws people off about it, if that's what you're wondering.
