THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS...I teach ESL students, whose reading comp is low. this video is perfect to supplement the reading they are doing right now.- this vid will help amazingly:)
I like how it's not just notes, which were short and precise, but also video clips, and the man with the large head and his sarcastic-like humor in his square also made the video enjoyable. On a random note, I remember the Inquisition's method of torture of slinging your tied wrists up high from a movie.
This is a whiggish distortion - the term scientist did not exist at this time - all the natural philosophers where religious and their discoveries where to strengthen their faith i.e. there was no 'warfare' between science and religion just a slow progression. Copernicus was a Catholic Priest.
And Galileo himself had trained to be a Catholic monk. I wouldn't deny that. To say there was a slow progression, however, is simply naive. It was a battle for influence. I do not argue that the church disagreed with the findings of the philosophers at the time (which, yes, even Galileo was considered) but it is clear to me that the church had no interest in allowing these new findings to further undermine their teachings.
hahaha I want to take this guy's class

Yay! I liked it :)
It was cool how it was notes and video and how they set out the important parts of the notes so we didn't waste time. I wasn't bored!
But was it supposed to go silent after 8:00 & copernicus? that kinda bothered me. :(

I like this vid. Learning the revolution from you is more entertaining than sitting in a class having the teacher tell it to you in monotone. ^-^
