Norway had referendrums on joining the EU, the results ended in 51-49 to the no side. Instead we joined the EEA agreement, (EU member, without benefits), which we pay for, to access the internal market, and by extension, EU regulations. No chance to alter the specifics of those laws though (only veto them, which has never been done.)

Because someone convinced farmes and fishers that they would lose to foreign imports, and that foreign fishing fleets would immedieatly fish all the fish. This was in retaliation to the US trade restrictions that all the single Euro states had to put up with, until the EU was able, by force, to get these restrictions dropped. Excellent video. It is argued that is we left the EU? We would lose half our trade? I strongly believe that is wrong, because if we left the EU, we would freely trade again.Freely trade without foreign control from the EU and freely trade without the fear of prosocution for breaking EU laws.
