Awesome video. I cannot imagine we'd have any of those over here in the UK although I did have some pictures of a Komatsu-Bucyrus 15H which a friend gave me that was on a construction site in Thailand I think. Probably taken around 1980/1981. Its fantastic to see the machine running and obviously well cared for.
donate? OK, let me come up there and RUN that detroit in your Bucyrus..I'll save you 1000 in repairs, cash in your pocket over the harm that operator is doing LUGGING that engine when it should be throttle kicked..what an idiot. kills me to watch it..pleasure and pain in the same click
@66singleman Anyone can run a keyboard so come on up and show us how its done. Just don't tear the machine in half with so much throttle that you will be paying us much for than $1000.00 to repair it. As I said, we always welcome new hands to help us and teach us a thing or two. We are all volunteers and are just trying to do our best. Ironically in the over 10 years we have had and used the machine, we have never had engine trouble. Started easily and ran great again today.
@rgvrrm i'm sure he's doin a good job, just needs a little more throttle(cowbell?).That old Bucyrus will probably outlast me..and if I did tear it up,I'd pull the service call on it and get her back in shape, whatever the cost. Pretty hard to trash that good old iron..unless ya don't check the oil.Best of luck to you and the museum.
@ASPCOT We agree that we need to add new teeth to the bucket. We have a new welder beginning to volunteer and have lots of work for him to do. With that said, we are all volunteer and only have so many resources to spread around. As always, we welcome new people to help and if you are too far away to volunteer, we welcome people to click to 'Donate' button above to help us offset the cost of the maintenance and upgrades we are and need to do to keep these machines in the dirt. Thanks!

@Mrdancefloordj We do not have shows per se, but we are open to the public for railroad operations from May through October on Sundays. We also volunteer Tuesdays and Saturdays, and visitors are always welcome if they wish to check out with the railroad or the heavy equipment. We ask you just ask a volunteer before wandering around the property. Thanks!
@Mrdancefloordj Yes. Admission is $7 for Adults $6 for Seniors and $5 for kids. That includes admission to both the R&GVRRM and the New York Museum of Transportation and the railroad ride between them. There is more info on our website which YouTube won't let me post here, but you can just look us up on Google.
I used to run a 40-h Bucyrus erie, and for the life of me I cant figure out why this guy does`nt have that detroit wide open, he is only hurting the machine like that
@hoemanscotty My Dad Had a 40 in Early 70s , I think it was a 72' Boy, What i would give to hear them Air over hydraulics just one more time!! He was the first Contractor in the Northwest to have one and did a Lot of tough, deep, nasty work with that Ol piece of iron, they were great workhorses, He was bidding work with that 40 that other guys were bidding it being drilled and shot.
Great to see old iron still making progress. Must hurt pretty bad by the end of the day operating this old hoe. Sounds like the engine needs to be a little more wide open for operation.

It's nice to see another one of these. We've got an identical unit here, albeit a bit less pretty. :)
It's old, but runs strong and does the job it's built to do.

It would dig a lot better if it had some teeth on the bucket... and it makes the machine look dilapidated and unmaintained.
