Daaaaang man, that sounds so interesting to try. I like drinking big beers like that, so I may enjoy it. I think you did a great job rating this beer and doing a beer vlog on it considering that you're not into humongous beers like that. Have you tried Goose Island's Bourbon County Stout. It's one of those beers that I could only drink once a year. I really need to make it out somewhere where I can try these Weyerbachers.
i have never had the goose island bourbon, but only because getting goose island around here is very limitted. but i have heard the bourbon stout is one of the finest beers in the world. so if i ever do see it. i will grab it.
if you lie big beers, you will probably like this then. of all the big beers i have had, this one is the best i have had so far. even though big beers are not my thing.
i can't even get this beer. it was given to me by jeremy and jason (two other beer reviewers)
Ya, we get a few of their stuff through a few local places. There was actually one I saw at BevMo that was $8 for a 12oz. It better be a damn good beer, lol.
no. i got tinted lens. they were at a 20% tint, (to help with the computer at my job) but when the coating scratched i returned them to get replaced and they replaced them with 30% tint. i didn't feel like returning them again, so my lenses have a tint in them. but i can't tell at all.
I agree with Barry, thanks for being so honest! These extra-strong beers are certainly not for everyone. I'm not sure if one really needs to be a connoisseur to appreciate them, but in the end it all comes down to preference. Some people might prefer to have one strong beer to 3 session beers at one sitting. I'm not sure I would like this one, either, even though I have reviewed strong beers and liked them. Cheers!
Don't sell yourself short, you drank that beer the way it was suppose to be drank. Big beers likes these are meant to be sipped, like a brandy. A way to wind down at the end of the day without consuming all of that liquid.
i get all that, and it was more enjoyable like that, but i just tend to not want to drink a beer that slow. so maybe these beers just arn't for me, but when i get my hands on them. ill do my best to properly drink them and evaluate them. i just don't know what i'm looking for. so i am probably not the right person to ask. but ill try....;)
Thanks for giving such an honest opinion. I like a good imperial stout from time to time and for you I'd recommend trying the lower alcohol imperial stouts first. Weyerbacher brews a great one called Old Heathan. Brooklyn's seasonal called Black Chocolate Stout is also great.
Any Imperial style takes time to get used to. In general one of the reasons Imperial stouts are so popular in terms of beers to age is because the "booziness" mellows out with age.

no problem. yeah i don't think these beers are for me, that doesn't mean i can't have an opinion, but it may mean that my opinion is unedjucated.

This beer is good when it's really cold. I like the chocolate and roasty flavors. But the intense booziness is a challenge.
Love that outro music song!
Chad9976 2 years ago
really. i liked it better as it warmed, go figure. the booziness was tough, but not as tuff as some i have had.
