I often think of this old song as I remember it being played on an old tall Victrola that was in the basement of my Aunt Sue's house. I listened to this as a little boy, on a record my father played for me, which he inherited from his own father (who had been an infantryman in "the Great War"). We actually had two different versions of the song -- in the other recording, it promises to "Crown Bill the Kaiser with a bottle of Budweiser" -- I wonder if Anheuser-Busch appreciated the product placement.
