This particular song, on the Peter EP, gave me a severe death trip that had me and my girlfriend crying for months. "Yeah, soon I'll be gone..." oh, and I am not kidding here, how we wept.
"Stick around for a while. Listen to my thoughts; it makes you smile. Yeah, soon I'll be gone. Yeah. Hold my hand, my life. Make you quiet down; make things right... yeah, yeah yeah. Soon I'll be gone. yeah." it is so sad, like is the gestapo coming by to take him to the camp ????
This is a tragic, epic song :( It is so sad. "Soon, I'll be gone. Yeah." It's so sad, it is like he is dying of cancer and talking to you. I think I cried for a year after first hearing this song, it gave me the chills, even now I am sad with the heaviness of mortality.
Since I'm sure most of you are Canadian, and possibly from the Niagara area.. Did anyone ever listen to the band Kottmeier back in the day?? They were from Welland.
i actually did book a show for them in montreal with my band underbed way back. and their name of the flyer was totally mistaken we wrote "cut my hair" that was all booked on the phone during pavement days ah ah
Can anyone post up or send me the Peter EP in MP3? My older friend Patrick owns it and I would buy a copy but I can never find it anywhere for under twenty dollars. This song along with "Haze" and "Happens All the Time" are my favorites!
I'm so happy that old videos like this are all over YouTube. I was too young when Eric's Trip were around, but I got into them over the last while and it's so great that I can see all these videos that I missed. Now I just need to track down that Peter EP! BTW: I saw Eric's Trip's reunion last year, one of the greatest shows I've been to.
i remember buying one of their homemade 45's in london at Dr.Disc in like...the early nineties, spent much time learning their tunes, one of the tunes that caught my ears was Snow?
I have and will alway think that Eric's Trip was one of the best thing to come out of Canada since bands like Rush,Kensington Market etc.I got into them back in 1991 and they are still spinning on the turntable!!!!.When I say something is good, its good, seeing I listen to everything from Wes Montgomery,Miles Davis,Al Bowlly to Genesis,ELP,Yes to Ivor Stravinsky.
Today,as of now the Canadian music scene is CRAP!!!!!!!,And I wish MuchMusic would just go away!!!!
I miss MuchMusic back when it still was about real music - I went into the MuchMusic Store last Christmas to buy a Sarah McLachlan CD, and all they sold were T-shirts and pimp juice.
Mark is great, always talking about bands. He used to always yell Voivod at Elevator shows. Here he is asked to say hi and sneaks in "GG ALLIN"!
Super funny!

This is one of my fav Eric's Trip songs.
Gotta love the heavy grungy distortion, really stands out and makes the song.

I remember hearing that the company that printed their first LP returned the master to Subpop thinking it was damaged because it was so lowtech.
I loved their demo tapes. They came with a beautiful artistic pictures on real photo paper.
