The deficit is based upon this year revenues from taxes against the amount spent by the government, and has nothing to do with the national debt other than it does add onto it a small amount if there is a deficit. The Clinton admin although it balanced the budget,and handed a $800B surplus did nothing to pay-down the then $5.7T debt.

Reagan refused to boycott South Africa during apartheid meaning that he was on the wrong side of history, and he ignored aids so i think he is extremely overrated.

@Packerd01 Okay obviously you don't understand the difference between National Debt, and deficit spending. I will try and keep it simple, and explain it to you. The deficit is based upon this year revenues from taxes against the amount spent by the government, and has nothing to do with the national debt other than it does add onto it a small amount if there is a deficit. The Clinton admin although it balanced the budget,and handed a $800B surplus did nothing to pay-down the then $5.7T debt.
