Actually I think it's amazing. PR&TR could really BELT OUT a number live, unlike almost any group around, their group was flawless, their instrumentations carried forth like twice the number of personnel and you know who's singing was awesome... this was a very sophisticated number. Yeah, Jack Benny, even going sort of psychadelic, the Raiders refused to resort to endorsing drug use... they were clean and just all around good guys... this is rare footage, exceptional!
This has been in my brain since I first heard it so many years ago,I knew it was Paul Revere but not the name of the tune,a half hour of google then amazon.com for clips of their hits led me to this video, now I can die happy(little black egg by another band was another one that drove me crazy) :)
The Raiders were mainstream like the Beatles, Hermits, Monkees, and I loved them all! I was never into the Stones although some of their music was good. I preferred main stream rock, I guess. I am sure there is another word for it.....it escapes my 60 plus brain! LOL!

Never liked Paul Revere & The Raiders. Too clean. Not daring enough. Stupid costumes. The Buckinghams had costumes too. But they were cool. And their music was far better then The Raiders.
Yes, I've heard those songs. What I really should have said is, that Paul Revere & The Raiders are not my "cup of thee". By the way, you have great channels. I really enjoy them.
@donkeyboy27 You're entitled to your opinion. I agree with 60sPG. "Kicks" was one of the first songs to discuss the problems in the drug culture without being preachy. And "Him or Me" has some of the best, most sinuous guitar work in the chorus of any '60s pop song. As for the Bucks- yeah, they were good, but for a band you praise as "edgier," they sure had a lot of string and horn arrangements on their songs for an "edgier" band- and I say that as a Chicagoan (the Bucks' home town).
Question: Is Lindsay singing "do you wake up dreaming in the middle of the night?" in the chorus? The original lyric was "do you wake up SCREAMING," a more intense message relating to the social turmoil of the '60s. Is this another case (like Jagger singing "let's spend some time together" on Ed Sullivan in '67) of the singer altering the lyrics to more innocuous words to get past the network censors? Just asking.
; They didn't die from drug over-doses, their drummer 'Smitty' died from natural causes, but the rest are continuing to perform live, and Mark Lindsey's voice is as strong as ever. Not 'daring', just smart.
; Thank You, and, coincidentally, I just heard. I remember from that time some 'Tiger Beat' rumor of some interesting back-stage intrigues with that one, but it could be here-say, and the usual teen-mag competition drama. A very happy new years to you, and yours.
Great video. I don't remember the song being that fast. Maybe it was just my radio station that slowed it down. Thanks for all these neat-o songs that bring back sooo many memories.
May not be great quality, but still PLENTY GOOD ENOUGH to thoroughly enjoy the sounds & choreography of these talented artists. For their unique, innovative style & excellent arrangements, Paul Revere's Raiders should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. THANKS FOR POSTING! Peace & Love ALL.
This song always reminded me of "Paperback Writer". It looks like Charlie Coe is on bass guitar for this one. Probably Freddy Weller on guitar and Joe Correro, Jr., on drums. And of course Mark Lindsay on lead vocal and Paul Revere himself on keyboards.
@donkeyboy27 No one said you had to like them, but at least go complain to someone who will actually agree with you.

@55sharbrum No, it's from "Jack Benny Show", February or March 1968.

@StevieB1362 You are right. Somebody sped up the track for some reason. It's still a great video!

Definitely one of the best groups of the sixties. Should be in the hall for sure.
Some of their sounds were almost "Bubble Gum" style.
Audience looks a little subdued for the times.
Thanks for the video.
