@richdad360 Storage time varies by onion type and storage conditions. Sweet onions store for shorter periods than pungent onions. They are best stored in a mesh bag maintained at between 32 and 40 degrees with a fairly low humidity. A garage or a cellar are good locations.
@drchessman We sourced our allium heart health information from the USDA, Stanford University, and The American Heart Association. Unfortunately YouTube does not allow us to post links to the specific articles and pages. Onions are the most beneficial when eaten uncooked, and red onions are the best for your heart.
@askthegriz Hello! The raised beds are constructed with redwood lumber and cedar posts. Cedar and redwood have the best natural weather resistance without being treated.
@groworganic Thanks...That's what I figured. I live on the east coast and redwood is hard (and expensive) to come by. But would love to eventually build some like yours. Thanks again.
@askthegriz For a temporary (a few years) solution that is much less expensive, you can look into large Smart Pots. These are fabric containers that can be purchased in several hundred gallon sizes and used as an instant, budget raised bed. Check them out on our website.
Good instructional video - wish we could get onions that size. Think we will need to give them more nutrients to bulk them up. Not sure about planting onions before the winter here in Poland - the only allium we plant is garlic in the fall.
Very informative video. About how long can u store them before they start to go bad & what is the best way to store them?

@rwg727 Yes, Tricia says that the closer to the poles you live the more the hours of daylight vary.

@ivankinsman Agree that you should probably plant long day onions in the early spring. Let us know how it goes!
