  • I don't understand, what's the point in rooting your phone?

  • Spawning Children, lol. Thanks for the video

  • Ok, followed all your instructions, it said file path not found or specified or something like that when I did the cd \ steps. :(

Also...when I did run the OneClick program (via another way, simply doubleclicking on the program) it ran thru the steps then said: 'Device Not Found' It is plugged in to the comp, usb debug is on, card not mounted. I DID install Samsung drivers, never see anything happen after install (after the install wizard installs successfully, that is). Soo....help?!

  • @AAB9562 yea me too. my mcafee virus protection removed it because it has a trojan.

  • I am not computer illiterate but neither am I a pro. I had some trouble figuring out some things because my os is not the same as yours and the process you followed was slightly different. Once I figured out how to do those things it was pretty easy. Oh, another thing is that my phone doesn't automatically connect to the pc. I had to manually do that thru my phone, I was about to tear my hair out because I couldn't understand why my pc wasn't recognizing my phone.

  • @poojita22 lol um glad u got it.

  • This is the best step-by-step video of the rooting process I've seen yet! Very precise instructions, thanks. To many video instructions "it" when referring to what to do, but it's confusing as to which device you are doing what too, but you made it all very clear. Great video!!!

  • worked thanx bro~!

  • It stopped at 71% and said on cmd adb connection will be reset. restart adb server on desktop and re-login. What did I do wrong?

  • it says that muh phone is not connected

  • mine says phone not connected?

  • i dont have the SU how do i go about getting it because i did everything you showed me but still no super user

  • @mii2aable try getting a root only app and see if it works because you may have got the exploit with the su app

  • after you root do you have tp keep checking youself for the updates or does it do it by itself is it something you constantly have to be checxking

  • 3:36

    "Spawning Children..." hahah

  • once the phone is rooted, how do i go about getting it on metro pcs or boost mobile considering they are both on cdma networks?

  • @darkalelkw Don't know but if you go to XDA forum someone should know how there.

  • @darkalelkw if you want your epic on Boost Mobile 3G check out our channel.

  • what if the SU doesnt show up???

  • The newer version of the One Click take a bit longer to run so be patient.

  • cool man. i have a help chanell where i was helpin a bunch of people out with rooting their samsung moment. i upgraded to the epic, and was a little nervous about rooting it. but i followed your instructions and it worked. just got done makin a video so my subscribers who have been askin about this can do it. giving you the credit on this one. thanks man

  • Hey AA,

I've been trying to root my epic for about a month. I always get frustrated because after I run the "run.bat" command, press any key to continue, I get the message stating, "copy and run the exploit (may take 2 minutes)". Then I just wait, and wait and wait and nothing happens. So I just disconnect and forget about it. I have USB debugging connected and it recognizes my device. What am I doing wrong?? :( HELP!!

  • @dmsr44Sam Try downloading the root exploit I'll send you a link

  • Very helpful video man! I have two questions though.. Can I do this without formatting my phone and stuff? I've been using it and I don't want to loose all my apps.. Also, what is inside SuperUser? Thanks!

  • @HanManXWolfe Thanks a lot . No rooting does not format your phone or sd but backing up is always advised . Superuser is just an app that Grants and manage Superuser rights for your phone.

  • Thx! I got it to work. Great vid!

  • Seems to be a great vid, but I've tried rooting several times now and I keep getting this response after the "abd devices" prompt, "'abd' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." Any suggestions?

  • @wbarb01 yea as long as you make sure you are in the samsung root exploit folder and that you install the drivers correctly it should work. Because if you try adb devices as soon as you get into command prompt its not going to recognize because you are not in the folder that has the adb executable .

  • My epic went through everything but when i went to check for the super user after rebooting it wasn't there! So did it work is there any other way to check to see if it worked? Or is super user a package that I have to download too?

  • @Tical323 you can check it by downloading a root only app

  • Thank You bro!

  • wow, that was easy, thanks man, and if it help anyone, i have a dual boot pc, with window7 and xp, for some reason it woulnt work while i was using 7, so i use xp and it worked great, thanks again. and if you dont know if your a 32 or 64, just dl and try to install one, if its the wrong one it will tell you its not a valid one, or you could chec by going to your controll panel!

  • this phone is to good to risk brickning it....sux....

  • on mine when i go to the command and i press the adb drivers it shows that my phone is off line wat am i doing wrong??

  • how do u know if u have a 64bit driver or a 32 bit driver?

  • @silentkill201 the 64 bit and 32 bit pertains to your OS on your computer . So do you have a 32 bit Windows or 64 bit Windows ?

  • @AndroidAdvocate oh ok the thaks

  • when connecting the USB to the phone, do you select the "charging" option or what?

  • @Acerpwns no u must make sure usb debugging is checked

  • thanks for ur quick response. I'm sorry but how do u uninstall the root? ive been looking everywhere for detailed instructions on this with no luck.

  • sorry for posting twice. was a mistake

  • @seelenmord1986 I have to same update and I'm fine try uninstalling it and reinstall it

  • @AndroidAdvocate Never mind on the root uninstall. I figured it out. Thank u for ur help I REALLY appreciate it man.

  • Hi . I successfully rooted my samsung epic a couple of days ago and did an update to 2.1-update1 and now when i try to tether with free wireless tether i get "unable to start tethering. please try again!" The su app is still on my epic but does this mean i've lost root? (Sorry i'm kind of new to this) If so, what do i have to do to regain it? I don't understand how to use the root uninstaller that is linked in this video. Can some help me please:-(

  • i was hoping you can help mei go to your website and when i download the driver mine says its driver finder not samsung usb driver i was hoping you can some how give me the direct download? this would help alot

  • @DASHpointO go to the that link again and hit the Softpedia Secure Download (US)

  • @AndroidAdvocate thanks for in back to me so fast. sorry i am not doing so well with this i clicked what you said then should i go to the green downlad bc that what i did but it didnt download samsing usb it just says samsungdriver. i am not sure if thats right

  • @AndroidAdvocate and after the driver is squared away. i was reading that you said we need android sdk? where can i get that

  • Hi. I successfully rooted my epic a couple of days ago and did an update to 2.1-update1 and now when i try to tether with free wireless tether i get "unable to start tethering. please try again!" The su app is still on my epic but does this mean i've lost root? (Sorry i'm kind of new to this) If so, what do i have to do to regain it? I don't understand how to use the root uninstaller that is linked in this video. Can some help me please:-(

  • @craiglevere ok try uninstalling the samsung driver and make sure you have the right one like if you are on 32bit get the 32bit and reinstall it. that should work but make sure you have the android sdk on your computer as well.

  • @craiglevere OK first question did you install the Samsung drivers if so unplug your device and plug it back in and try again if it says it again restart the computer sometimes you must do that so the drivers install properly . Try that and let me know how it goes.

  • @AndroidAdvocate when i put in adb devices it says

    list of device attached

    D70000......

but it doesnt say daemon not running, starting it now

  • This was a great explanation. Easy to understand and worked like a charm. Wifi tether works perfectly. Thank you.

  • @nadenson Thanks

  • Very simple and very good video as usual. I think I will give it a try since I have 4G in my area and would like to tether through it for free. Funny cause I never knew I had 4G in my area until I was in the Sprint store and noticed the Evo on display had a 4G signal.

If it's not an issue could you make a video on how to unroot, or do you know how to unroot it? Just asking because I would like the OTA for 2.2 when that comes. I dont like flashing roms all the time. Phone issues in long run.

  • @Nate88Music Yea u can unroot its a zip file that you have to flash a may do a video on it. But when ever an update comes out all you have to do is update the root doesn't stop you from updating in fact when you update it you will have to reroot it.

  • What will happen when I upgrade to new firmwares? Btw great vids. You put up the best tutorial so far. Keep up the good work

  • can this work with the samsung intercept???

  • @philjr2234 No as far as I know it works for the Epic.

  • How come after I type run.bat and click enter it says device offline? Please help

  • @Techlife03 When you did adb devices did you see your device if not just uplug the device from USB and try again when you plug it back in . If that doesn't work make sure you installed the Samsung drivers correctly .

  • @AndroidAdvocate i uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them and it says "adb connection will be reset restart adb server on desktop and re login" it say error: device cannot be found
