  • make sure the turkey fryer is stainless steel do not us aluminum as it boils aluminum lets out by produces that are harmful and will spoil your shin

  • why use copper? any particular reason?

  • @fredkyle23

copper is easy to form, easy to solder using lead free solder, also has sanitary properties and traditionally has been used to make pot stills etc. I guess the other choice would be stainless but to hard to form by hand etc

  • Love the video.....but the first part seems like the most difficult to re-create, and you breezed over that in the first 10 seconds. Is the outside arc of your cut sheeting going to be the length of the inside circumference of the pot itself? I would worry that I would not cut the sheet the right size.

  • @smokindave74

the outside arc is larger than the o.d. of the pot by 1/2" for the flange, then some extra to trim off due to iregularities.

  • Love it...The man has skills...Awesome job my friend.

  • Kickass video man!!!

  • This looks sooooooooooo easy!!! WTF!! Easy?? hmmm..... don't think so.

  • you are an artist, sir

  • @goinghomesomeday1 The maximum amount of lead in LEAD FREE solder is 0.02%

  • This sounds like music from Stomp.

  • If ya put 2 tabs flat soldered few inches up from the pot handles with a kink in them just so you can hook a small spring from the handles to the cap guaranteed not to blow off --Nicely done though I might try this i`ve got a real nice reflux made but i have to make a cap yet .

  • great work. How long did this project take you? and did you already have a fair amount of experience when you began?

  • damn good work buddy

  • make a ball in the middle of the spout with 2 ports and you`ll have a real nice reflux still -I`d still wrap a 1/4" steel loose spring over top the cap handle to handle just in case scolding hurts bad .

  • nice craftsmanship!

  • I admire your fabricating skills. Good job!!

  • good video, but what's up with the obi wan kanobi shirt?

    =)

  • Nice metal work man

  • That looks perfect. I aspire to be as talented of a fabricator. I have seen in some other resources that lead solder makes poison when used in distillation. Is that true? Having no knowledge of solder myself, what did you use? Thanks for the video!

  • common lead-free solder

  • @anh138 Lead-free is probably good but I'm uncertain as to its toxicity. Silver braze, or "hard solder" is used on the copper pipes of a lot of homes and in industrial applications. Nice metal working making the cone.

  • @adammcmillen1

You really should use lead-free solder whenever you're making something that is going to be used to produce something for human consumption. The only poison that could possibly be made when using lead solder is, well, lead.

Anyways, lead free solder uses higher heat to melt so it, in my opinion, makes a stronger bond.. though I've never had a problem with regular solder.

  • Respond to this video... how much do u sell these 4 plz msg btw awesomeness

  • I don't sell them , just wanted to show an easy way to make the flange to fit a turkey fryer stock pot - Easy you can make yourself I think.

  • @anh138 Not if we dont have the Tools...

+ And all the looks that i got for asking Homedepot if the sold sheets of copper and looking at copper pipe today... LoL

  • @anh138

Where did you get the copper sheeting? I picked up a roll of the stuff at the craft store, but its only about a foot wide. It's probably about the thickness of soda can metal. What'd you use?

  • @Hardwyre

I bought it at a local gutter supply company. They always have a little bit left at the end of a roll that isnt worth making into a gutter. I think its 16oz per sq ft

  • Does it work

  • yes I make whiskey from rice twice per year, but it is not used to boil water, only get the alcohol out of the water plus the condenser is open to the atmosphere so there is not much pressure..

  • good job thanks for vid

  • Lead free solder, I hope. You need a pucker keg...

  • Great job! You're obviously a sheet metal craftsman. A 100qt stock pot would be a excellent up grade though.. Just a thought, thanks for the video.

  • More Led Zeppelin Please

  • Great job! I see your handy with a hammer to... "keep shining"

  • I have a question. How much do u figure that cost Just the copper?

  • I bought it from a gutter supply company prices vary

  • how did you connect the copper top with the turkey pot?beacuse they are two different metals?or does it sit on top of the pot?if it does sit on top ,then how does it build pressure? i would think there would be leaks.

  • its just a tight fit. I use it to distill alcohol, not boil water so there isnt much pressure. If you want pressure you would have to make some type of clamps . I make whiskey from rice twice per year.

  • nice crafty workmanship....and nice choice of music playing in the background

  • how thick it ur copper? and verry nice buy the way!

  • Very good job! your head looks great, it probably has great pressure (much better than in my video)

  • thanks I wanted to show a simple easy way to make the top for a turkey fryer type still. It works great, I dont get a lot of pressure. I use a 20 foot coil of 1/2" dia copper tube for a condenser. Maybe its 25 foot.

  • DUBASS WAY TO MAKE THE HORSEHEAD. first the thing will be a rocket basically if theres too much pressure and the cone doenst allow you to add any weight to the top so you dont blow a cap

  • used it many times, never any problems. Works great. What is " dubass" ?

Its a still, not a rocket. I use it to make whiskey.
