Hard not to think of Mark as one of the lucky ones.
I believe he knew years before he moved on into God's presence that he would do so early, due to his weak heart genetics.
He paid me one of the best compliments ever, after a concert, 1978.
I walked up & talked with him a while. As I was leaving he told me it had been "Refreshing"
I curiously asked what he meant.
He responded, "It's enjoyable to talk with someone who thinks"
- and I waited for him to finish the sentence as he walked away
