  • Richard Dawkins for his involvement in the New College of the Humanities: WHYS THAT BAD? WHY DO THEY CARE CAN SOMEONE TELL ME?

  • so what do they have against richard dawkins?

  • and they never said why they don't like him.

  • I don't think I quite understand what they're protesting against.

  • @DraconionDevil They think they're entitled to free university education. Rather than them paying to further their career prospects, they think everyone else who isn't going to have their career prospects improved by it or benefit from it in any way should have money taken off their wage slips and given to them to pay for a university degree. In other words, they're self entitled, psuedo-intellectual hipsters who would have been laughed out of existence in any other generation.

  • @Idlethumb88 When you say that they would be "laughed out of existence in any other generation" you fail to observe that in England university fees were exactly nil for the generation who are now in power in politics. I am currently working on an apprenticeship and so have no bias towards university whatsoever other than my firm belief that education available to all (suitable candidates of course) can be nothing but a good thing for a country.

  • @Samjarrett1 They want a degree purely to advance their financial potential. Why should other people who wont benefit from their degree have to pay to put them in a better financial position than themselves? If they want to advance their career and earning prospects, then they and they alone should have to invest in that idea.

  • This is just sad :(

  • @strats11 What about it makes you sad?

  • @Idlethumb88 That they invade in there shouting and saying nonsense.

    Richard is too polite sometimes.

  • @strats11 Oh, i know. I find it amazing that people call him intolerant and intimidating when he is literally one of the most patient people I've ever heard of haha

  • "Education is a right"? How ironic coming from a religious nut.

  • I think it's quite ironic when they protest against how much it costs to have an education, then they waste a bunch of people's money who have paid for that education. I think their cause is a good one, but at the same time their methods are horrific. British freedom and tolerance is a privilege, and these people just take it for granted and trample on this countries ethics.

  • Why did these people attend the lecture if they didn't like what he was going to talk about? Don't they have their own places to be, like a church?

  • Dawkin's is a hero!

  • SQUAK They call themselves peaceful protesters, why are they shouting? SQUAK

  • The bottom line is what those people were protesting about is a lot more important than a Richard Dawkins talk.

Do we want to end up like the US where students have non-dischargable loans of $100,000+ simply to get a university education, and now have a bubble of $1 trillion student debt? Think about it hard.

  • @historypoliticsbb So you'll be fine with anyone with a valid complaint setting up camp in your yard, using your house without your permission, as long as they have an important issue to champion? There is a time and place for protesting, and this was not it.

  • @evilyig But this wasn't someone's house was it? It was a public hall. A big difference.

  • Unless the protesters bought tickets like everyone else in that hall, they don't have the right to be there. Shame on them for not taking their complaints to whomever actually does the legislation.

  • This is adorable XD

  • So.. uh.. what's this New College of the Humanities? :|

  • Maybe I'm missing something but these people seem to be protesting about tuition fees........

  • bloody students get back to the union bar

  • yep! incoherent and shouty. just gotta be religious types.

  • What are they protesting about?

I assume they are god squadders but anything in particular?

    No phones no sound

  • @pinball1970 Basically their protesting about tuition fees and the inception of a new private university. Most likely they aren't religious but are pseudo-socialists... usually a middle class student who splashes out on the next apple accessory while simultaneously condemning any form of capitalism.

Of course they are completely right and are actually doing a great cause, unfortunately they come across as douchebags. I think they need to find a better way to get others on their side.

  • All you moaning about protests and riots etc word of advice Save your energy for 10 years down the line when there are less educated and developed youth/younger generations as a result of the rubbish legislations and policies passed through on our behalf. YOU lot will be the first to complain then but the Now your the first to stand against those brave enough to make a stand.

    P.S. that includes R.Dawkins.

  • They must be from Oxford Brookes...

  • 3:50 it turns into Britain's got talent haha

  • Unbelievable how many cretins there are in the world. Obviously prof dawkins has things to say that are worth listening to.

  • ohhh crap, who let the pc brigade in :-/

these type of brainless morons piss me off, they protest about things that they know nothing about, basically just because they just want something to whine about.

they must all be on their periods 24/7.

  • interesting

  • Why aren't people allowed to have their own opinions? This is why many people dislike Christians.

  • bunch of cattle.

  • Dirty fucking hippies make me sick

  • Interesting footage, but rather shabby you've not explained hy the protestors don't like the Humanist College. Of course, good protestors would make SURE everyone knew !

  • What's their problem ?

  • Ok, who let the retards in?

  • why shame on Richard Dawkins? perhaps instead they should have a polite discussion with him... and have their bullshit beliefs slammed!!!!

  • There not arguing over religion i dont think, about the student fees rise

  • the arrogance of the ignorance...no one owes you anything in this world you arrogant stupid kids.

  • Crazy.

  • 2:16 hot anti-dawkinist girl, very cute

    2:33 what a clown

4:31 "i paid for this shit" He just called shit Dr Dawkins lecture lol

7:39 the end nothing happens here

  • @trifulquita15 This Shit is colloquial for Stuff i.e. he is annoyed at them for ruining that which he payed for, what i don't understand is what these "peaceful protesters" are protesting, i can't make out anything that they are saying, except a bit of "SHAME ON YOU!"

  • @Dickified certanly they are not protesting about religion as 99,99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of British students are atheists

  • @foreverlaurence Isn't this the private university Dawkins lectures at? hence the £18k quote, it's outside of the fees cap and loan system.

  • Comment removed

  • Man that guy at 4:51... in America he would have at least tazerd and hog tied.... I'm moving to England...

  • I agree with freedom to express your thoughts and views through protests but I didn't get why they were there! What were they protesting about? I get it was about education but why we're they at a Richard Dawkins talk? O.o

  • What a bunch of fucks, only thing they accommplished by that was making themselves look like bigger tards then everyone already thought.

  • University isn't even a right. It really is a privilege. It cant possibly be a right for those who don't meet the standards whilst at school. Education is a right until your 17/18. Then shit gets real and you pay for things you want.

  • @robbo8890 And if you meet the standards at school but can't afford to pay for further education? Or did you not think that through?

  • @Samjarrett1 and that is unfortunate. Im not saying people cant go to uni. But it is a privilege and its unfortunate some people cannot afford to go. There are colleges people can attend to get further education at a cheaper rate, but you pay for prestige. Also there is scholarships available for gifted students. Or did you not think that through?

  • @robbo8890 There are scholarships available for the tiny minority but the fact remains that rich, less gifted people stand a better chance of attending university that those who are more gifted but who cannot afford to pay. I would argue that this is not the best way for a country to get the best out of its population.

  • @Samjarrett1 Well thats tough luck! Its not cheap to run a Uni. It doesn't happen for free. Its expensive. It might not be the best way, but do you suggest income assessments? Yes you can come to uni for free but you can't come for free because you make and extra £1000 over the capped "Free Uni" limit? Doesn't work like that. Its just unfortunate.

  • @Samjarrett1 what has this got to do with Dawkins?

  • @Samjarrett1 Just because someone is rich does not necessarily make them less gifted o.O

  • @mikemgw18 no but it does make it easier for them to go to university, regardless of whether there is a more deserving student with less money to their name, simply put, a degree doesn't mean anything if there are smarter people out there who are less qualified.

  • @robbo8890 your talking out of your arse, you can be a knuckle dragger and still get into Uni and a job at the end of it if your parents are loaded and well connected. Scholarships are a few peanuts thrown to the poor. All that matters to the Uni is that the student has the correct amount of currency

  • @lndac02 at what point did i say you wont get into uni if your stupid? its a luxury that some people can afford to give a degree a bash. good luck to them if they can afford it! But in some cases you are wrong. If there is a Uni programme that has 40 places and entry requirements. It wont be the richest that get in. There will be a cost for going to uni. But its not a fuckin auction that goes to the highest bidder. point still remains. uni is not a right. man the fuck up.

  • This is why I hate religion.

  • Oh, now we see that violence is inherent in the system... Come and see violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!

  • @snackynak I see what you did there :D

  • "job loses, we need money for the buses. shame on you. shame on you"

  • LOL

  • it was funny when the romanian guy call the leather jacket guy james dean

  • Idiots

  • this vid needs more taser

  • Bet that leather jacket lads parents are fuckin loaded.

  • What were they even protesting? ''education is a right not a privilige?'' What did that even mean?

  • @doombow666 Well a new government had been elected and promised students to make university more affordable, however the government went back on their word and actually made university more expensive than it originally was. A lot of people now no longer have the opportunity to go to university, there was a lot of riots about this which I think was totally reasonable.

  • @CounrtyGirl479

First of all, only one party in the current government promised to lower the tuition fee, the larger party did what it said it would do.

The number of people attempting to get into university has actually increased, indeed there aren't enough university spots for students.

If you think violence is the answer to anything you are a sad person, secondly they started out as protests but were hijacked by anarchists and other idiots.

  • @CounrtyGirl479 Yes that woud be reasonable. It is however not reasonable to do it during a debate ppl payd to see.

  • @doombow666 yeah thats true

  • can somebody please answer the question, what are these morons protesting about??

  • @fuckinrobbie To make education affordable.

  • oh sit down and shut the fuck up you god believing idiots!!!

  • What exactly are they protesting

  • What's this protest about?

  • @UndeadTurk dawkins backes something helping students or something, then done a talk for a university who was upping their fee's or something. i should have been a news reporter.

  • why did they kick the dude on stage out?wasnt he sayn he wanted to see dawkins to?hmm im lost...

  • Sorry I missed something. Didn't understand the description. What were they protesting about?

  • @m00nshine2004

    They were protesting tuition increases.

  • @Arfalarf

And presumably Dawkins had made a comment about this?

  • @m00nshine2004

I have no idea what Dawkins had to do with it. The talk may just have been a target of opportunity.

  • @m00nshine2004 They are not intelligent people. They are protesting for the same reason the rioters in the summer of 2011 rioted, for the sake.

  • @m00nshine2004 They were mad that someone believes their imaginary friend doesn't exist

  • @DixieNormas07 lol dats not y they r angry bcuz he rich or something

  • Next thing you know they are going to whine that this was religious persecution because people told them to leave.

  • Evil Dawkins leading many ppl to Hell

wake up ppl use your brains!

  • @khaledomar99 lol

  • I wish the mob would have lynched them, but that would have been too ...

    *puts on sunglasses*

    ... religious.

  • why do i get the urge to punch ALOT of ppl right on there small minded faces

  • why did they do this?

  • "Education is a right" um no its something that you have to do on your own and u morons clearly haven't been doing it.

Such stupid and entitled people in the UK.

    No wonder its going bankrupt

  • @Jamespot24 well apart from having the best education system in the world, I guess you are spot on.

  • @empireEaZy Who told you England has the best education system in the world?

  • @Jamespot24 You think it strange that UK citizens feel entitled to an education? Are you even aware of the basic tenets of modern society.

Such stupid mongoloids in the USA, I feel sorry for the smart 5%

  • @skegpit entitled to a college education. And whats with all this "modern society" "mongoloids in the USA" condescending talk. The US is wealthier per capita then the UK

  • @Jamespot24 yet you have shanty towns and house repossessions by the dozen. and Qatar is wealthier than the US but its still a shitehole.

  • @MrJoviun Britain is an emasculated nanny state! I mean you aren't even allowed to have guns

  • @Jamespot24 many countries aren't allowed guns to citizens, probably why we have much less gun crime and school shootings over here.

  • @MrJoviun Actually to my recollection Switzerland is in the same region (west Europe) and it has more households with firearms than the US. It also has way lower crime that Brittan, even lower than Japan.

If you really believe firearms in the hand of responsible citizens poses any risk you are a sheep. Guns keep people safe, an armed population is a free population

  • @Jamespot24 Do Americans actually believe this bullshit? It's a gun not a fucking political movement. We do have guns here, you can buy them for sports like clay pidgeon shooting and so on or pest control. The difference is we don't base our entire concept of freedom around them like you seem to. An armed population is a free population? No, not really. An armed population is just that, an armed population.

  • @Nckcooley Lol a person that is armed has the ability to protect their God given rights from others who wish to harm them and from Government!

Someone who is unarmed is at the mercy of whoever that wishes to impose their will onto them.

  • @Jamespot24 I have a hard time believing a guy (even if he is imaginary) whose major motto was love thy enemy and love thy neighbour wanted a bunch of rednecks to have guns so they can shoot people. I've never owned a gun and i've never found myself at the mercy of "whoever that wishes to impose their will onto them."

  • @youbetzler A gun is like a fire extinguisher, or a spare tire you don't "need" it at all until you need it 100%

  • @Jamespot24 you live in some serious paranoia if you think you'd ever need it 100%

there is nothing a gun can do for self-defence something like a taser or pepper spray cannot.

  • @youbetzler If the other person is armed pepper spray or a taser isnt going to do shit, probably just make the criminal madder.

The reason u rarely hear about guns saving lives or stopping crime is because its not a story when a store doesnt get robbed, or a family doesnt get murdered. But guns are used defensively 2 million times a year, the NRA says it themselves

  • @Jamespot24 It's clear this is a point we should just agree to disagree on. However I do agree the guns aren't fundamentally a bad thing. I've done a bit of target and clay pidgeon shooting, by no means am I an expert of course, but a gun on it's own is essentially an expensive hammer. Yes they can be misused but then again so can a chunk of flint.

  • @Nckcooley Well it makes sense u'd agree if you actually have gone shooting before. Even my liberal friends who have shot guns are typically not against them. Its usually the people who never fired a gun before and don't know much about it that will listen to the media and give into the fear.

But obviously I think criminals shouldnt be allowed to have them, but if you are 30-40 married have kids never committed a crime b4 im not threatened by u.

  • @Jamespot24 which god?

  • @salerio61 What are you talking about?

Firstly I commented on this 3 weeks ago

Secondly I was arguring about gun control

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.

Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote."

    Benjamin Franklin

I believe good gun control is being able to hit your target :)

  • @salerio61 But obv I love Jesus Christ. Just sit down for a few hours and read the gospel

  • @Jamespot24 Jesus your mythological god is much too busy developing a monopoly of microscopic viral diseases to destroy you at this very moment. You better seek out science to save you not your fictitious fable of a god!?!?!

  • @Jamespot24 i completely agree with you on the gun issue but the fact remains that gun crime is a major issue in the US yet not in Canada (for a whole heap of reasons), but as for crime in the US? you are completely wrong, the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world 5% of the population and 25% of the worlds prisoners. There is a mountain of evidence to counter you argument i suggest you engage your mind and look up your point before you post it.

  • @MrJoviun I'm sick of people talking about "gun crime" while discarding overall crime. Of course if guns are banned suicide by gun will go down, i mean look at Japan they have no guns and no suicide by gun yet they have the highest suicide rate in the first world! So talk about overall crime!

Compare USA to Mexico, Mexico is way worse and u know the innocent people being killed by cartels wish they had the right to bear arms. Look at Rwanda where genocide happened with machetes

  • All I here is "Waaah the policeman pushed me". Protests are supposed to take place in public places you dumb-fuckers.

  • i love how when the guy stands on stage and addresses the crowd everyones like "go back to where you came from!" then he calls the demonstrators idiots and theyre all like "yeaaaah wwooooooo".

  • I'll protest like this when I want to waste my time accomplishing nothing.

  • Letting the motives aside, why the heck would you demonstrate at a discussion which is held in a closed auditorium, filled with people that paid to see that? If you wanna get some attention, then do it in front of Live-TV-Camera's on a big event!

I see a pattern of unintelligence emerge here...

  • I'm going to be totally honest, I don't understand their point.. Would someone please explain to me?

  • Fucking wannabe hippies

  • Ugh... Morons. Idiots like these give a bad name to students.

  • Why shame on Richard Dawkins?

  • what are they protesting (if you can call it that) about exactly?

  • sorry what/ ? why are monkeys released in a lecture hall?

  • peacefull protesters? im pretty sure breaking and entering and trespassing isnt very peaceful.

  • 3:03 want some face with that chin?

  • I think these arsholes just walked of the set of Hollyoaks.

  • The Guy at 4.04 is awesome

  • They are humanity students so they don't even do a real degree.... Shouldn't even be at uni....

  • wen i went uni i thought i would meet intelligent like minded people, oh i was wrong.

  • that dumb-ass on the stage is cute i love thick chicks lols

  • oh, I get it it's a shouting contest

  • wtf was this group trying to stand for? They had no poster, they were just shouting random stuff, causing havoc...wtf were they even trying to say?

  • @Casshyr Are you stupid or did you seriously not understand?

  • @cemalson lol you have a temper issue. What are you calling names at me for? Did I insult you? Were you part of this group? If you know what they were trying to say, then how come explain it to be in a civilized tongue?

  • @Casshyr Yes, I have a temper issue.

  • Students LOL

  • It's times like this I'm ashamed of being a student.

  • are they protesting tuition hikes?

  • @glower125

I don't think even *they* know what they're really protesting.

They're just spoilt champagne socialists taking any excuse to fight the "establishment" and make themselves feel like revolutionaries.

  • 5:40 I'm cringing watching this, such an embarrassing and pathetic parade of pampered twats. "Education is a right, not a privilege" - oh really? An actual right? So countries which don't provide free higher education are violating the rights of their citizens? What a load of shit.

  • @Riiye No I disagree with you there, I don't like their tactics or methods here but for a modern society to function and grow higher education is a must. To force out poorer people or push them into huge amounts of debt is not productive in the long term. Just think how much more positive things could have been done with the money spent on war with Iraq and Afghanistan and the many billions used to bail out the banking industry.

  • @SlightyDisturbedNBK There's nothing wrong with thinking HE is a must, but thinking it is a RIGHT is what annoys me. You do not have a human right to free university, it's just silly - particularly from these middle class twerps.

  • @SlightyDisturbedNBK if there was no banking industry there would be no point in going to university. there'd be no loans to start business's, no investment in government debt. why should a factory worker have to pay tax for a university student to go and study for free and have a much better life than the factory worker could ever dream of....?

  • unfortunately, political activism is sometimes used by stupid students as an excuse to be rebellious for the sake of being rebellious. There was no one in that room who opposed any of the things that these protesters thought that they were supporting so they shouldn't have tried to ruin the lecture.

And the "people being assaulted by police" was just pathetic of them to say.

  • @N64isgreat Whats so bad about the new college of humanities......what is it?

  • @1THETRUTH10 I don't know. What is it?

  • @N64isgreat So you think education is a privilege not a right? Do you live in the UK? Are you aware of what situation students were in at that point in time? Nobody like ageist people.

  • @CounrtyGirl479 I am a student in the UK. I don't see how education is being limited to people. What point in time? What has this got to do with "ageist people".

  • 'police assault on people'?? son u should come over to nepal. They dont just assault u they kick ur facking arse for saying it!!!
