@GrandAlucard Uh, no. Snake was actually very vocal to Raiden about how VR training is very desensitizing in MGS2.
Nanos only get you so far. Snake's weren't nearly as advanced as they were during the war economy. The only thing the nanos Drebin injected into Snake was make him the carrier for the new FOXDIE.
MGS1 says Snake was trained by Miller, and MGS4 said he was trained in CQC by Big Boss.
PS: Snake didn't have nanos when he beat BB fair & square. :P
I think you are confusing Snake with Raiden. Raiden had all that VR training and nano (not mano) machine injections. That was established in MGS2: Sons of Liberty.
Why is everyone dissing Raiden anyway...? I always thought he was a good character, maybe he didn't look like one, but he was a good character. And the new Raiden is a good character too. Also: "We've managed to avoid drowning!" XD
@TheJorus Raiden was meant to represent the average Metal Gear fan as Kojima sees it. People don't like to take a harsh look in a mirror. This is exactly what AI Rose was talking about, about how people only want to see things they like and turn a blind eye to what they don't like.
The new Raiden is meant to represent /b/-tards and emo faggots that think everything sucks, and Old Snake (in the Act 4 briefing/the scene before the microwave room) tells him to quit bitching and go back to Rose.
Kojima's actually pretty magnanimous towards his fans, with the occasional bit of trolling aside. I think that Raiden was meant to be more of an affectionate jab, rather than the brutal gouging that he's always cast as in fan circles.
@randomdudley as far as the aging solid snake thing goes, i thoroughly agree. we all love to see snake as that indefatigable badass from metal gear solid 1 & 2. it's just depressing watching him slowly lose it over the course of mgs4. by the end the plot has descended into shallow melodrama too. frankly, it was bad way for any character to bow out, let alone solid snake.

If you judge the trailer, and the trailer only, the game will be a hack n slash, but the maker CONFIRMED it will be a stealth action game with hunting stealth instead of hiding stealth, which is a quite different genre than hack n slash, right?

@Anime96Vault I think they kinda except it not to do as well as the other mgs in terms on the ps3s platform (as you cant compare on 360 and pc). I think they will do raiden in another one and if that fails they will not use him again.

I haven't really been keeping up to date with videogames news, but I've just realised this is going to be released in June '10 in my region (UK/Europe). :O I love MGS. Especially Big Boss's story (MGS3/MGS: PO) - I actually find him more interesting than Solid Snake. Pity he probably won't have anymore main console appearances.

even if it is easier, kojima's team are professionells and they'll handle making peace walker on the ps3. sure it is more work but sorry, metal gear solid was never a game with less effort
i also would like PW to be on ps3 and not on psp. I mean psp is okay but in the end handhelds stay garbage. you can't compare them to full HD TV with dolby sorround. or even a normal TV is better (okay you can connect the psp to a TV but the graphics would still be better on the ps3)
cuz Kojima wants to Expand the gameplay horizons on the psp, they have proben that they can be the top of console gaming and want to show now that they can make a TRUE MGS experience on a handheld, i think is kinda a personal challenge, i personally think that is good that PW is for psp only, plus, is a more personal experience! and the graphics! wow, i mean for psp! its has better graphics that some HD games, for me, this will be game of the year for 2010.

I've already played through a bunch of peace walker and I think it's a great game, and probably the best psp game ever made, but it would be amazing on ps3. Umm...Kojima has said otherwise. At E3 he has said specifically that Peace walker is not a side story/spin off and is a true sequel to the franchise; he's deeply involved in the project and is writing the script etc. You can even find the video here on youtube. I believe this is the title of the video: "E3 09: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PSP Trailer"

Raiden was created with an intention of bringing a greater liking towards the female MGS players.
That said, he's still pretty badass anyway.

i also would like PW to be on ps3 and not on psp. I mean psp is okay but in the end handhelds stay garbage. you can't compare them to full HD TV with dolby sorround. or even a normal TV is better (okay you can connect the psp to a TV but the graphics would still be better on the ps3)
I just don't get it why on the psp...

cuz Kojima wants to Expand the gameplay horizons on the psp, they have proben that they can be the top of console gaming and want to show now that they can make a TRUE MGS experience on a handheld, i think is kinda a personal challenge, i personally think that is good that PW is for psp only, plus, is a more personal experience! and the graphics! wow, i mean for psp! its has better graphics that some HD games, for me, this will be game of the year for 2010.

I've already played through a bunch of peace walker and I think it's a great game, and probably the best psp game ever made, but it would be amazing on ps3. MGS4 with all the features of peace walker and have Big Boss as the main character? Hell yes.

yes i can, and im saying it, cuz this is one of the few cases where the graphics (beautiful as they are on PW) are not bigger than the game, this game is better than uncharted 2, RDR and even MGS4, WITHOUT HD graphics, now, if the graphics aren't the issue, what is it?? if they are, u don't appreciate this great game... cuz if it was for the PS3 the only thing different would be the graphics...if thats the only thing that matters for u, u should wait for RISING....

The Ai would be scaled up, THERE WOULD BE TWO ANALOG STICKS ON THE CONTROLLER, much more content can be featured (due to blu-ray discs), online co-op without ad-hoc party and an online lobby system. The graphics would only be the same? I just told you I think that peace walker is probably, in my opinion, the best game on psp. Ignorance wow.

I went to it and the first thing it says is "the story is still unknown".
The game is non-canon to the main games, and untill Kojima says otherwise there's no proof of it having any part in the timeline.

Umm...Kojima has said otherwise. At E3 he has said specifically that Peace walker is not a side story/spin off and is a true sequel to the franchise; he's deeply involved in the project and is writing the script etc. You can even find the video here on youtube. I believe this is the title of the video: "E3 09: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PSP Trailer"
