Look AC/DC is the epitome of HARD ROCK. Led Zeppelin were Blues-Based Hard Rock as well. The two are some of the most legendary rock bands of all time. It's funny how on the "Early Days" compilation CD, they finally acknowledged several of the original composers, but poor Jake Holmes still gets the cheese on Dazed and Confused.
But the question is, why didn't he pursue any actions then? Did he ever confront the Yardbirds for playing his song? Maybe there was something we don't know about.
Jake Holmes apparently made his fortune on commercial jingles and he chose to let this one get away. Maybe he liked what was built on his foundation. That he had the riff first is beyond a shadow of a doubt and his version harmonizes the bass line with great effect.
It's true that Zeppelin didn't give credit to the original songwriters in some cases, Dazed being one of them. But that's not all they did. Most Zep songs are their own creations.

Great Music is timeless, Be it Classical, Jazz, or R&R. People are still listening to Beethoven and enjoying it over 200 years later. I think LZ will be enjoyed by many generations. Jake Holmes apparently made his fortune on commercial jingles and he chose to let this one get away. Maybe he liked what was built on his foundation. That he had the riff first is beyond a shadow of a doubt and his version harmonizes the bass line with great effect.

Most bands nowadays are more concearned with making stupid music videos to show of their tattoes, and Page was a brilliant guitarist. It's not just about strumming chords and plucking notes it's the subtle things like how you apply vibrato or slides the make the great guitarists stand out from the good ones. I have a show recording of this show with really clear audio quality (but not much bass unfortunately), and I can tell you that they nailed this song all the way through. There's a lot of subtle details you can't hear in this video due to the limitations of camcorders
