I'm almost 16 and 've been watching anime since like 1 year ago. I started watching shonen, then seinen and then i got tired of all that shit!! I'm glad i found animes like these ones, intelligent animes :)

just finished this anime now and what a psychlogical mind fuck right from the start to the finish what a journey. The story is complex but they do help u towards the last 2-3 episodes to help u get the general gist of it, u have to put the rest of it together yourself, but they do bascially spell out the general idea of the story to u which i think was helpful. Im still feelin shaken after typin this LOL

@RP88888 Death Note is is not all hype because it kinda deserve it, but it's getting too overrated due to the fans who've never seen Lain nor any other psychological thriller/mystery, in my opinion. The series is unlike Lain because it's more fast paced and easier to get into. I won't say one is better than the other because they're both great series, but I have to say that I enjoyed Death Note better due to the protagonist-antagonist indirect psychological conflicts. But that's just me.

Monster is more down to Earth and more realistic. Lots of character development, better plot, characters, and that jazz I've said before. Steins;Gate. Gosick. Mahou Shoujo Madoka. But if you specifically mean the summer season, then yeah there really isn't one anime that's refreshing that I've seen so far. But, the fall season will change that. There's Persona 4, Fate/ Zer, and Shakugan no Shana III so far.
@Darkrise71 Madoka is a bright spot. Steins Gate as well. Gosick i haven't seen. Persona 4 is probably going to be good if they capture the game's feel.Fate Stay Knight, and Shakugan 3 has yet to be seen, don't know anything besides it having to continue the perilous ending season 2 gave it.

This was an awesome series. The detail was amazing and I felt half insane while watching it. There was so much content I had to pause while I pondered the philosophical implications of what was happening. Best part was I have no idea what the story was about! Something about connection, computers and existence I think...
What stuck with me was how even the smallest details are planned. There's a scene where you see Lain's dad behind his bank of workstations, hidden by them and talking to her. He inputs his password: it's "Think Blue, Count two."
That's the name of a Cordwainer Smith short story where in order to protect a colony ship, they create a god from a little girl's psyche. Bloody amazing.

Higurashi was not a mindfuck either. It's actually pretty simple to figure out if you watch the 2nd season, since everything is explained. They were in a time loop the whole story.

@phantomasgria Unlike the other guy, I've watched it entirely. It's not "boring" but it's definately slow. I can't say I liked it. And don't get me wrong: I do appreciate quality "author-based" short anime series, but this didn't cut it for me.

I first heard this song almost 6 years ago, learned it so fast because it was the intro to the guy I was falling fast for's favorite anime. We'd stayed up all night watching it together. A week later they needed to test the sound set up for his band's practice and half the guys where in the main house, so they handed me the mic. I belted it out, the guys came in and told my brother he wasnt the lead singer anymore. I married the bassist I had learned the song for.
This anime was the symbol of "after Evangelion" for me. "Moe Moe Kyun" animes are of course funny and cute,but I really need serious and complicated one like this....
i watched this whole thing, and somehow i feel more clever. It's weird how that happens when the only part i understand is the concept of the multiple-lain thing *no spoilers intended*
@taylorgoff235 the multiple lains were all lains that were in other peoples minds. There was lains of the wired and lain of the real world. she came to terms with them and "erased them" since if a memory is removed then it never happened.

Just watch it without knowing anything about it. It's a great show worth seeing but just see it without people telling you what it is or what to expect or what you'd like, etc. Just watch it. It's unique and worth your time.

当時の衝撃は忘れられない。こんな不気味なアニメが深夜に放送していれば衝撃の一つも受けるのだが、
世界観が異質かつ先鋭的、そしてＯＰの曲もエレクトロニカ寄りのレディヘを思わせる曲調。

@phantomasgria Unlike the other guy, I've watched it entirely. It's not "boring" but it's definately slow. I can't say I liked it. And don't get me wrong: I do appreciate quality "author-based" short anime series, but this didn't cut it for me.

I first heard this song almost 6 years ago, learned it so fast because it was the intro to the guy I was falling fast for's favorite anime. We'd stayed up all night watching it together. A week later they needed to test the sound set up for his band's practice and half the guys where in the main house, so they handed me the mic. I belted it out, the guys came in and told my brother he wasnt the lead singer anymore. I married the bassist I had learned the song for.
