Ashton was such a bitch, after Madeline helped her, she turned around and betrayed her and Orry, just like that Witch Doctor said. I would have never helped her, but I supposed Ashton knew about her and Orry, that's why she went to her because she knew she would have no other choice but to help her or she would tell Madeline husband about her affair.
Madeline is part black, that was the secret that Ashton found out, and when Madeline knew that Ashton knew, she left the Main plantation and what's sad about it, it was after Madeline and Orry got married.
@devmonbar Well, but Madeline could have told Orry that Ashton was pregnant. It would have been very risky. However, I think she does know, because she says her brother always speaks well about her. She really knows how to flatter Madeline...
