Bobbo4462, you can find the original 1987 Japanese movie (with English subtitles) on the Yeoh website. You have to download the video player (only takes minutes), but you can always uninstall it after watching the movie. If you want an actual copy of the DVD, I'd recommend trying eBay, although when I searched I found nothing. Good luck!

They can see color it's dulled though. And my dog watches tv and will walk really close to the screen if there is another dog on tv.

I just bought it on E-bay. Just search for Hachiko Monogatari.....and make sure that what you are buying has the English subtitles, unless you understand Japanese. Richard Gere is now filming a remake of the original movie about this dog. Don't know when it will be realeased. Look it up on YouTube for updates. It is an interesting and heart-warming story.
