For many sports hips are one of the most important areas to be strong. With this system we work on week areas. She is an amazing lifter and these have worked wonders for her. The more you have to search for new things to get you stronger.
Amy is 47 years old and still breaking world records after a long and amazing carear. These are all time world records not age group. After 20 years of world records it is a testimony to the training system. The average age of retirement for a Bulgarian lifter is 23.5 Her carear is longer than that. The conjugate System is a rotation of excersises this is just one of many. And if you think there is no need to target hips well then you have never accomplished anything in powerlifting.
@armyvette2000 Yeah can't be that hard considering she has world power lifting records and squats and deadlifts over two and a half times her body weight. No big deal.....
@ako541 why do you say that ? I mean it is a portion of the actual squat - as long as you do not lift crazy weight and are flexible enough it should be fine ? what do u think
I cannot claim to have lived long or seen everything, yet in my existence on this earth I have not witnessed anything as awe inspiring (and sexy) as this! Great job, Amy!
I do these for mobility with no weight, I am actually a little ashamed I never thought of adding weight and I need to rock that ROM. Thanks, this will make my deck squats a lot better (girevoy sport) because I....lose my hips....when I get way down in the hole, especially for front squats. This looks boss!
dude !! she is awesome!! I just tried it today and plan to do it a couple of times a weak to improve my squat and deadlift. I will sure help me on my vertical as well.
@sweattshopcincinnati Is it really necessary ? I don't see the hip strength as the limiting factor when performing squat, those muscles are strenghtened more than enough with regular squat, and as others have commented this must be extremely hazardous for the knees. If really it's necessary to work those muscles specifically I've seen a much better exercise on YT : shoulders on a bench, bar on the hip, humping toward the sky.
@idiosyncrazy1980 The squat is very much dependent on hip strength. If your hips are not strong enough to rotate the thighs, you fail a squat. Knees and back are a major factor as well, but they support the squat, the hips actually drive the movement. Barbell hip thrusts are a little safer, but they likely don't give this athlete the same benefits. These are more of an advanced movement, so if you don't know your body very well, wait until you have a little more experience.
@KTMONEY100 Great answer to a question I didn't know I had. I guess I'll start with hip thrusts (which I only learned about last week) for a few months, then try these out.

If she can rep out 405 like that, especially without a belt, then it ain't that hard. Then again, that exercise ain't all that smart either.

Worst part of kneeling squats: walking it out. Blah. I love these, but they're so hard to set up for, in my opinion.
