A superb post,,,even for a non-player. Such items as this broaden the mind, more especially when put over in this way which is so clear and understandable. @The55555SSSSS - Really? Beethoven was famously homely. Contemporaries called him "ugly" and commented on his angry visage. Paul Lewis is a genuinely good looking guy...not has handsome in motion as on his CD covers, but a very handsome fellow.

Is this another of the Guardian's notorious mistypes? It says Paul is talking about recording all the Beethoven sonatas but he only mentions them in passing, along with all the string quartets. What is talking about here is the piano concertoes!
