Ironically, I easily lost interest in most video games, except this one. I remember playing this game in around kindergarten or something. I used the number of beans as a reference since I couldn't really read the names too well. I remember my cousin and uncles bringing their friends to my parents' house because they wanted to watch how I beat it. I didn't really understand as much as I do now, but thanks to a friend of the family who explained some things to me, I had it figured out.

You can jump in this game. Use the trampoline. This game is David Crane's greatest accomplishment as well as one of the best on the NES. It is not impossible, I've beaten it probably over 100 times since I was a kid. You guys just suck

i agree, this game looked ace for the time (ignore the charecter sprites. the blob moves quite amusingly though!) but the backgrounds and areas look wicked for NES standards. granted, this game is pretty difficult, i didnt understand it as a kid, theres no straightforward clues as to where to go. but its still one of my fave childhood games!

The gameboy version, while it certainly sucks ass from a straw, it a lot easier, though. There's only 5 or so "puzzles" to solve, a lot of areas are relatively safe if you don't run into shit like a dumbass, and treasure is completely optional, so you can ignore half the areas in the game (and those happen to be the harder ones). It's beatable by normal humans. Takes some curse words, but it can be done. The NES version is pure evil.

Being a Boy and his Blob game, the GB game has it's share uf fun stuff, though, like areas where you need to bounce up through holes with those snake things hopping over them... but your bounce starts on the screen below, so you can't see the damn snakes, and just have to hope you avoid them. Better bring some spare lives.

A couple of tips. When the blob is a hand held item like the blow torch (cinnamon is hot, so is fire btw), you can place the blob more percisely. You can also check the screen below by throwing a jellybean; the camera will follow the bean as it falls.

When I was young I bought this game, all the words were Japanese because I bought a Japanese version. I don't know any Japanese, I made a lot of notes. The game is terribly difficult, especially I don't know the meaning of these Japanese words. What's more, it asked for a lot of trying, and you know the fc(video game system) don't have the remember function. I even didn't know the proper name of this game.

btw, if you use the cola jellybean(bubble), the 6:40--7:00 scene will be easier.
