A-Kon 21 Haku Dragon Cosplay: Walk To Convention Center

My job as well as video taping was to help control his back as well as telling him where to go since he couldn't see very well. So it was very difficult to get a front perspective video of him walking through the hotel/convention center when I would have had to know what was behind me so I could direct him to avoid it. I did get video of the whole thing once he got to the convention center which is at the end of the video.

Is it your fiance at the head of the dragon? And how can he walk? O_O Is there someone in his back that moving his feets?

@Pentragon1990 Yea, he's at the head of the dragon and his feet strap onto the dragon's feet. The dragons legs have hinges so when he walks it looks like the dragon is walking. For the back legs, he put them on bicycle wheels so they would look like they are moving. We were going to use a pully system but it proved too difficult. Right now we're working on designing Haku 3.0. We're going to make him lighter and make him look a bit more real. =)

@Pentragon1990 VERY exhausting. He was saying that the worst part was when he was walking across the street cause of the heat and wind. We didn't think of how hot he was going to get in it and we noticed at the cosplay competition that a lot of the full body costumes had fans and camel packs in them. We're going to add those next time.

Our goal is to re-touch this Haku cosplay for Akon next year or maybe the year after. We are going to reinforce his neck, make his tail longer, change how the spine and ribs are done, change his skin to a short shiny fur instead of silk, and maybe remake his head. My husband has so many plans for Haku!

@KawaiiSasuke305 Yea, it was kinda hard getting a shot of him from the head when I and a friend of mine had to help guide him through the hotel and crowds. He could barely see at all with the black cloth over his head. But thanks!

@hsg141 I'm not sure what you mean by profile pics. If you look at my uploads, there's a slideshow of my fiance making him (it took 6 months) and there's a bunch of other videos of his cosplay. Someone also took a video of him in the cosplay competition at A-Kon 21. I would search youtube with "Akon 21 cosplay competition 2" and it should pop up. It's my favorite! ^_^ Thank you for your compliment! We're very proud! He plans on making it even better in a year or two!
