What he was asking the man before he took his shahada was whether he believed in the six pillars of faith. There's is nothing to be shocked about.. as a muslim we believe that Allah (swt) is all-knowing and that he knows the future and destiny. Everything is already planned (when I will die, when I will start life) and this my friend is the concept of pre destination. It's something you MUST believe in!
