Well, it is actually hard for us chinese to improve the design, and safety issue with very low cost. Our new labor laws raised up wages, as well as the foreign (collaborative) car firms in china offer better benefits than purely domestic ones. beside, we are forced to cut prices to be competitive while things like quality has to be bought with money!

the owner of BYD drank a cup of the liquid battery solutions in front a American investor to prove its healthy and no pollution. It doesn't taste good though.

The owner bought a lexus & a Mercedes to study their structure. After all, all BYD need now is a shell, he already got the core.

Looks like you missed the end of that clip. It said that BYD should focus on style quality and safety. Things the big three have made forward strides on. Plus the Chevy Volt should beat them to the American market.

The Chinese can easily solve these concerns. The problem with us Americans is our arrogance. We think we will always be the best and we ignore the technology that comes up in other countries esp. in Asia. We will wake up someday and we will be far behind these countries if we don't change our attitude. We should be vigilant instead of underestimating the capability of our competitors.

I agree with you, but I think the US has already woke up. Personally though I don't think of electric and hybrid cars as a solution, the batteries themselves pollute especially when the batteries find their way to a landfill. Massachusetts Institute of Technology has discovered a way to streamline how ions move in a lipoly battery.
