The film should be made as a musical ,it would be perfect then!! What is "Les Miserables without the nice songs which were used on stage....It is like making "The Sound of Music " Or "Annie" without the songs...What is "Sound of Music"without "Do-re-mi" or "annie" without "Tomorrow"?
I *love* that moment after Javert leaves the room. In just those few silent seconds you see all his inner conflict: the breathtaking realization that his whole livelihood has just been put on the line, immediately followed by the conviction that *knows* he's right, and then the fierce, wildcat determination to prove it and go catch his prey.
On a totally different note... Valjean is a good actor, but he's a string bean! It really strains belief to watch him lift the cart!
For any D&D enthusiasts: Javert is (to me) the best example of Lawful Neutral alignment I have ever seen. Perkins is absolutely superb in the role, and I am sorry he was carried off by HIV/AIDS.
I'm pretty sure Javert's superior in Paris is the same actor who played Imperial Admiral Piett in Episodes V and VI of Star Wars. Kenneth Colley, I think his name is.
"I have often been severe in my life. Towards others. This is just; I have done well. Now, if I were not also severe to myself, all of the justice I have done would turn to injustice."
I LOVE ANTHONY PERKINS AS JAVERT. *spazz* This scene is so Book-ish...it makes me happy. :D
BTW love the way Javert asks for punishment - it`s priceless.

Fantine looks like Gollum... and talks like Gollum.
And Perkins really resembles Spock. A good thing - I think Javert would make a good Vulcan.

Why is Javert just looking on and not helping? What kind of officer is that?

Javert sort of looks like abraham lincoln

dude, you've got like 20 guys there with you. Everybody surround the cart and pick it up together. Not rocket science, Valjean.
cdciam09 1 year ago 4
@cdciam09 Yes, I was just thinking that. All pitch in and the cart will be lifted. Duh!

The actress playing Fantine reminds me of Cloris Leachman. :-P

Why does a French man have a British accent? Lifting that cart with his back was quite a stupid thing to do.
Why do people find this book and movie boring? I love it!

I LOVE Fantine in this version! That is exactly how I pictured her...minus the creepy little voice.
DHP2 3 years ago 13
Yes. The voice is a little overdone, don't you think?
SumDude149 2 years ago
@DHP2 I prefer the Fantine in the 1935 version but this one is more realistic I guess, given that she is not supposed to be pretty.
98slbrookes98 7 months ago
@98slbrookes98 She is. The book describes her as having 'pearls in her mouth and gold on her head'...
dramakid95 6 months ago
@dramakid95 She WAS like that at the very beginning of novel, but at the time she`ve met Valjean Fantine looked exactly like it was shown here.
You didn`t read the book, did you?
Gwen7468 4 months ago
@DHP2 The actress' name is Angela Pleasence, whose father was actor Donald Pleasence.
