  • As an American, I'm honestly curious how this works. Clarkson's comments, even if they were in bad taste, are just speech. In America (technically) all speech cannot be infringed upon, you just have the freedom to be offended. Is this because of the BBC being nationalized entertainment?

Also, I've heard more horrible things than Clarkson (and Boyle's act) said on the BBC. Is it frequency that gets you in trouble? Are conservatives like Clarkson targetted more frequently?

    I really to know.

  • @Raventoll *I really want to know, but I seem to have run out of room in YouTube's text box :P

  • @Raventoll Okay, well, as another American, let me explain something to you: "freedom of speech" does not imply any duty on the part of anyone else, including broadcasting companies, to share your speech if they don't want to.

  • @Raventoll I'm aware that a lot of our fellow Americans are as lamentably stupid as you, and think that "freedom of speech" represents some privilege that allows someone who is speaking to force others to broadcast their speech. But it doesn't. Here in the U.S. a broadcasting company would be every bit as entitled not to broadcast a show if they didn't want to. Because, of course, they also have freedom of speech.

  • @scalporf I'm not sure where the insults are coming from, so maybe it would help you if I rephrased the question? I'm not directly or indirectly insulting the BBC for their actions, I just want to know why, for instance, Clarkson's broadcast here went unaired because of something he said elsewhere which was hardly the most offensive thing I've heard here.

More to the point, the BBC tends to get sued for jokes (think Frankie Boyle). Isn't that a speech infringement?

  • Oh, and the knob-cheese. lulz.

  • If I were slightly paranoid (which I am) I would say that Stephen's remarks about "sortition" or random selection of members of government had much more to do with the episode being pulled than anything Clarkson said. Anyone with a braincell active knows he was trying to be funny on the One Show, not really his fault if he isn't that funny. (I find him funny though :D )

  • 33:42 Sexface!!!!

  • @ 6 minutes, I am the guy with revoloving pass codes in his head. We exist.

  • Wi-Fi ROO-ter? Oh Jezza, Jezza, Jezza.

  • Hehehe, knobcheese, heehee.

  • Well, now I know how to rob Stephen Fry. And Jeremy Clarkson, for that matter...

  • I despise Clarkson/Top Gear.

  • Ross Noble is freackin' awesome.

  • I just thought Jeremy Clarkson was so disliked cause he's an arrogant prick?

  • /\ What are you doing ? You're missing the video. Scroll up now! /\

  • I love watching these twice.. I know the answers before Fry does! :D

  • I wasn't not aired because of Clarkson, but due to Alan's amazing score...

  • 20:08 I AM EATING FUCKING CHEEZ DOODLES HERE YOU MOTHER F.......

  • As a non-Clarkson fan, what was particularly offensive about his comments? I thought it was one of his funnier non-sequiturs. Sure, a little anti-Beeb, but since when does the BBC censor people because they mock the BBC? Frankie Boyle wouldn't have survived his first series of MtW.

  • The reason for the "Hit it with your teeth" bit is they don't think you've got the device plugged in, and if they ask you "is it plugged in" people will almost universally "yup" even if it isn't.

  • So, if you say something stupid you're not allowed to be seen saying something normal and funny anymore. I love the logic of outrage. Now I'm all for Clarkson just out of spite.

  • @SPQSpartacus

I love the logic of vindictiveness.

  • I nearly coughed up my sandwich several times from laughter when they began talking about 'knob cheese' and seeing Alan's grimace.. ~_^

  • Who the hell thought it took longer to qualify to be a vet than a doctor?

  • @Shougunner people reasoned that knowing a body takes less long then knowing the body's of all kinds of different animals.

  • 2 people are boneidle

  • When they talked about holding up kittens to a machine did anyone else think of the scene in the movie American Psycho?

  • I don't understand why they wouldn't air this. TV regulators really are in a world of their own.

  • 27:30 Gets more and more funny the more I watch it

  • I've always played as the ship in Monopoly ! Never ever used any other figure :D

  • Never thought I'd defend Clarkson, but the joke wasn't even bad! he was poking fun at the BBCs need for impartiality. The people who took it out of context are to blame.

  • All my passwords are exactly the same.

  • I love Jeremy ''fucking'' Clarkson.

  • alan's facial expressions are precious

  • wow l was sitting exactly like that when the posture part came up. l am so good and did not know it.

  • jeremy fucking clarkson

  • Thanks for this. I did wonder why they pulled this episode but still aired some Top Gear repeats that week.

  • Ahh, never mind. I just realised that it's series "I".

  • Why are most of the shows titled with an I in them?

    I find it quite peculiar.

  • They should still show it, Clarkson might be a tool but he can be funny

  • I love clarkson. I would love to meet the man and would bow down to his feet. He is a fantastic asset to this country and an all round entertainer. TopGear could not exist without him and as one of the biggest shows on the bbc network i think that says alot.

This coming from someone whos parents are both targeted by Clarksons 'inslult' and who has no job. THE GUY IS A LEGEND.

  • Clarkson is excrement.

The only British tv star I know who would fit nicely within the Fox News framework. He's smug and uncaring about the environment, and the man is an openly-racist scumbag.

  • @Canaderek you must not have seen the fox news. If I hear any more environmental bullshit on tv I'm likely to cancel my subscription.

  • thanks for posting dude

  • Why was this unaired? - Nob Chesse - Oh!

    LOVE THIS FUCKIN SHOW!

  • @MrNusecus Cause Clarkson's an idiot.

  • This is the best episode of this series.

  • What Clarky said was just taken out of context, pasted across the news, replayed time and time again so that more people could get offened and got people who are shoved so far up their own arses a reason to spit their coffee at the television in the morning.

And I say that as a liberal, an environmentalist and as, what most would call, "one of those lefties", but Clarkson is still in my good books.

  • i dont understand why everyone got so bothered about clarkson to be honest, i didnt really give a shite and my father was one of the people protesting!

  • @jsabbath01 Yeah, same here. I interpreted it as him merely making fun of a lot of the BBC's rules in his usual extremely harsh way. He probably should have thought about the possible repercussions before he spoke, though.

  • @TheBankersNephew He probably did, chances are he used one of the greatest rules of comedy... Think about the situation, identify what you shouldn't say and then say it anyway.

  • @jsabbath01

Ignorant wankers like Clarkson are everything that is annoying about England today. I am just happy that i live in Italy. Low class, uneducated scum everywhere over there.

  • @bennythebearful

low class uneducated scum are the ones that protest council meetings wearing guy fawkes masks from v from vendetta because they dont fully understand anything other than "eat and hump"

clarksons comment was very funny, people are protesting with no cause.

  • @MisterMaker2point0

Ha ha, Christ, you know, when you say something like that, it really just suggests to me that you've got a rampant case of Stockholm syndrome.

  • @Jcolinsol

that was such a wonderful comeback im not gonna argue with ya... im gona use that one! it was brilliant! ha ha!

  • Could someone illuminate me, what did Clarkson do? I dont live in the UK so i missed it :)

  • @OskarHellstroem Basically he was on The One Show, and said, in relation to protesters, that they were brilliant cos nobody was around and he could drive all he wanted to. He then said that since they were on the BBC, he would have to balance that out and said he wanted them all lined up and show.

  • @TheBankersNephew what was the protest over?

  • @TheBankersNephew shown what?

  • @OskarHellstroem Make that he wanted them lined up and shot.

  • @TheBankersNephew Clarkson is a fucking idiot. He comes out with really stupid things and in the other two dickhead's with him being racist and generally ignorant. Funnily enough the other two aren't as bad on their own as they are with Clarkson.

  • @thenodfather Not quite, he just doesn't buy into political correctness and neither do the silent majority of the country because of the stigma attached to it by moronic loony left wingers.

  • @TheBankersNephew Yeah and The One Show is the most light weight inoffensive show on the BBC as well which can't have helped

  • @TheBankersNephew In front of their families as well I think, is what he said =S

  • Gooooooooooooood evening! Goodeveninggoodeveninggoodeveninggoodeveninggoodeveninggoodevening and welcome to tonight's QI.

  • wheres the innappropriate comment? im not hearing/seeing it.

  • Is this the episode that wasnt yet aired because of Clarkson's allegedly inappropriate comments recently?

  • @MrTommyboy211284 Yup. Too bad, cos it's brilliant.

  • I want to sue you, but I don't have a case, does that mean the rights belong to me too? :P

  • @Hashishin13 Possibly. Do you have a fish?

  • "All rights belong to the BBC, Talkback Thames, and anyone else who might want to sue me." I love it.

  • I do think Dara is funny but the way he goes ahhhh get's annoying when repeated 4 times within each sentence..
