i got it about 4 years and it's only broken once.. but it was completely my fault. it is such a life savor how it tells ou everything and it's so easy to program, i deffinitly recomend it to people[: the only thing i don't like about it is sometimes it takes a long time to put in all the numbers when bolousing but whateverr
@Lexisweet that sucks..I got mine approved in a week. this Monday I receive it..of course though Im in the U.S.good luck with it..hope its works out for you
Did a quick search and these pumps cost between $5,000 and $8,000. They have a 4-year guarantee, and if you have health insurance in the US it will generally cover much of this cost. Supplies are also expensive, about $140 for a months work of reservoirs and infusion sets.
tell could some one tell me the difference between this and the ping's actual"pump" part from where you deliver bolus' and stuff. is there any differences?
i have the animas ping, and from what i can tell, the two pumps are exactly the same in their functions. except for the fact that the ping speaks to its meter! both are pretty awesome pumps, but i found that i like the ping better. the meter-remote function is just so dang convenient for a 15 year old girl!
One has a color screen while one is LCD black on white. But there are many other differences internally. Search for CWD and Insulin Pump and you'll find a site with information you can use to compare both models.
It seems that the latest Animas model is the OneTouch ping. I don't know how it compares to the Animas 2020.
@jWilko88 i had a insuflon when i was younger and i had to go to hospital every 3 days and after a few times od going to hospital we got emla cream and done it at home!
i have to choose between this pump and the medtronic one with constant glucose monitoring? ive got a cozmo at the moment and im pretty happy with it. i only really care about size, is this one the smallest?
I have the same one on right now but mine is black =D CHOOSE THIS PUMP so much better in quality and you give oses as small as 0.05 units even the people at the hospital said it was the very best
hey i have to choose between the animas, and the medtronic pump and the omnipod, and is the animas reliable. is it good. answer on my page, not on this video. thx
My pump will be here on Tuesday. This video makes the pump seem complicated but there are trainers that come out to my house to train me on using the pump correctly. I am not allowed to use the pump by myself until all training is completed. This is reassuring to me and takes away aniety.
That sounds complicated.....I mean, supposing you went to Subway and had something like, oh, I don't know, a veggie sub with mustard. You'd have to measure EXACTLY how much of everything was on that sub, how many carbs were in the mustard, or what about variables like if you took the last of the Frosted Flakes from the bottom of the box where all the sugar collects, versus if you had the first serving from the top? I don't have diabetes, but one of my friends from undegrad does.
This is a constant struggle and challenge. As your friend how they deal with it. You might be very surprised.
You have to estimate how much food you're about to eat and then dial up an appropriate dosage. Take too much and your blood sugar drops. Too little and your blood glucose goes high, which makes you feel crappy. And eventual can cause complications.
Oh and stress and illness affects how you have to dose your insulin.
The funny thing was, my friend was SO laid back about it, he just acted as if diabetes was no big deal. I didn't even know he had it until he told me one day (it came up out of the blue, he was having a snack in a practice room, and I was like, "ooh, don't let the profs see that," lol). But anyway, my friend ate what he wanted, did what he wanted, and lived a normal life. He had a pump too, and he said it made everything simpler, but really, it doesn't sound simple at all.
You don't have to use the built in database of food items to calculate how much insulin you need for a meal. Usually if you have diabetes you are already used to figuring how how much insulin to give yourself for particular foods anyway, so you can just type in the number of units in the pump. The food data base is there more as a reference and I think this reviewer was just showing the features of the pump, even if you don't normally use that.
dont complain about diabetes? haha i wonder i you have it...yes it could be worse, but never compare life struggles, especially when it comes to diseases. just deal with what you have and dont think about how much worse it could be because for people with type 1 diabetes, it doesnt feel like it can get any worse. life with diabetes sucks and even though complaining about it doesnt make it go away, we all need to vent. the only way i sorta agree with you is when people complain about type 2, ugh.
Yes, I do have diabetes type 1. I never feel the need to complain about it. If ever it comes to my mind about complaining, I think about a relative of mine who is confined to a wheelchair 24/7 this reminds me diabetes is absolutely nothing in comparison. I can get up and play and walk around anytime I want.
I don't complain about diabetes, but it sure is freaking annoying, not being able to eat any type of ice cream/chocolate bar etc without taking insulin, that really pisses me off, i just wanna live like a normal kid, that's why i wanna get a pump. And i agree with brownie, it is pretty annoying when people complain about type 2. It's there fault there unhealthy.
