  • Apathy is probably the main reason millions live in poverty.

If you can find the cure to apathy then please let the nearest charity organisation know as soon as possible.

From what I've seen from human behaviour they will always be driven by self interest in greed long before basic humanity or the greater good of themselves and those around them.

Perhaps if you offer them a hat or a tshirt they might be persuaded to give a damn about something.

  • your video is pointless as it tells free minds what (we) allready know.

And those who disagree would never mind listening.

  • This frood knows where his towel is...

Or maybe he just likes to wack off a lot...

  • Thanks for the excellent advice moron, I'll unwatch the video.

  • Truly apathetic nihilists usually don't feel any motivation to even justify their views because that would mean making another meaningless theory. Idealists (like me), I think, are characterized by always believing in greener grass on the other side, so we have the commitment to separating real from irrelavent/false in order to wade toward a better life. I think detachement in extremity leads to avoiding facing problems when the "half-empty" becomes overwhelming. But then you avoid love too.

  • Thank you

  • I don't understand. What is he trying to achieve? What is he upset about? What initiative?

  • I'm not sure. It's my understanding that there is legal action that one can take in the case of false DMCA's, isn't that sufficient?

  • Cool, I support this.

  • I don't like people telling me what to do.

    F*** off

  • "I don't like people telling me what to do.

    F*** off "

    _

Did you just tell him to do something?

The hypocrisy is strong in you, son.

  • D34dH053 might want to check a dictionary.

  • "D34dH053 might want to check a dictionary."

    _

    Hypocrisy:

the act of persistently pretending to hold beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities, or standards that one does not actually hold.

Like holding the belief of not liking people who tell others what to do, then telling people what to do. (i.e. telling them to f*** off.)

Just a suggestion: don't make yourself look silly.

  • "D34dH053 might want to check a dictionary."

  • Looks like you need more than just a dictionary. I'd explain it but if you can't even understand dictionary definitions then you're a moron.

"... the belief of not liking people ..." that's a garbled English even by youtube standards.

  • "".. that's a garbled English even by youtube standards."

    _

From someone who says "a garbled English" when attempting to ridicule others...

    Let's review:

"I don't like people who tell me what to do"-spoddie

So, you tell him what to do [in the very same post, no less]:

    "F*** off"-spoddie

Then I give the definition of hypocrisy, explaining how you fit the definition, and you attempt to ridicule and fail at that as well. You are a clusterfuck of unimaginable failure.

  • It doesn't fit the definition. There's not point in me trying to explain it to you as you'd then misunderstand that, and so on forever.

Maybe you could take the dictionary to your mum, your teacher, your church minister or your therapist. Maybe one of them could explain it and suggest a word that does fit the scenario.

  • "It doesn't fit the definition"

    _

Yes, something that's hypocritical doesn't literally fits the definition of hypocrisy...

    Funny that!

"Maybe you could take the dictionary to your mum, your teacher, your church minister or your therapist."

    _

So they can laugh at you to?!

    Now tell me again:

When you tell people that YOU don't like it when people tell YOU to do something, then you turn around and YOU tell them to do something YOU want them to do, how that's NOT hypocrisy....

    Please!

  • It's been speculated that the Internet will spell the end of English. One indicator of modern illiteracy is the the use of all caps words to add emphasis.

  • "... the Internet will spell the end of English."

    _

And this has to do with you explaining how being hypocritical isn't hypocrisy? Or, does it have to do with you seeing the definition of the word, then acting in cognitive dissonance to your own actions? Please elaborate.

"One indicator of modern illiteracy is the the use of all caps words to add emphasis. "

    _

    [citation needed]

I would use the APA standard of italicizing words for emphasis, however YT does not have this feature.

  • Looks like you are projecting. Once you realised the definition wasn't what you thought, you misrepresented the situation But that's only half the story.

People have been writing English for hundreds of years without have to add emphasis. I can't imagine how horrible it would be to listen to you using dramatic emphasis to try to make a point. Lucky YT doesn't have formatting, you would have every second word underlined, bolded, and italicised, and you'd still fail to make the point.

  • "Looks like you are projecting."

    _

Only if I am the one who said they don't like others telling them what to do, then proceeds to tell them what to do....

"Once you realised the definition wasn't what you thought, you misrepresented the situation But that's only half the story."

    _

Actually the definition was exactly what I thought, and how it was explained. This is where your cognitive dissonance comes in.

  • "People have been writing English for hundreds of years without have to add emphasis."

    _

And people have been writing English for hundreds of years adding in emphasis.

"I can't imagine how horrible it would be to listen to you using dramatic emphasis to try to make a point."

    _

I disagree. After your display of denial of reality, I would wager that you could imagine a lot more than that as well.

"and you'd still fail to make the point.."

    _

Goalposts; quit shifting them. It's deceitful.

  • Still awaiting your citation that capitalizing words to add emphasis is a sign of illiteracy, spoddie.

Or how being hypocritical isn't hypocrisy, spoddie.

Actually, I still waiting for you to answer for any of the rebuttals given. All you have demonstrated, besides a consistency to fail is that you operate heavily outside of objective reality, and that you can deflect from rebuttals.

  • Your obsessive compulsive need to achieve a "gotcha moment" is best discussed with a professional therapist. Your therapist might also be able to help with understanding dictionary definitions and fix the tortured grammar of your last sentence.

  • "Your obsessive compulsive need to achieve a "gotcha moment" is best discussed with a professional therapist."

    _

Did you read my post about how deflections are deceitful? Do you require an explanation of why they are deceitful?

Would this stop you from being deceitful?

"Your therapist might also be able to help with understanding dictionary definitions and fix the tortured grammar of your last sentence."

    _

You keep claiming this, but failed to demonstrate anything you assert.

  • "...and fix the tortured grammar of your last sentence. "

    _

".. that's a garbled English even by youtube standards."

Is this the tortured grammar you are referring to? Because I was only quoting you.

Again: You're making a fool of yourself.

You were a hypocrite for what you posted. You failed to back up any assertion you made. You failed to provide citation. You failed to tackle rebuttals. You fail to stay on topic. You failed attempted ridicule of me. You fail. Period.

    Sorry...

    PERIOD!

  • I only prompted two replies this time! Is the medication kicking in?

Typos are one thing, but completely misunderstanding parts of speech is an entirely different matter.

  • "I only prompted two replies this time! Is the medication kicking in?"

    _

Is this your citation that using emphasis via capitalization is a sign of illiteracy?

Is this an explanation of how being a hypocrite isn't hypocrisy?

Is this any substance to support your baseless and unfounded claims?

Is this a better attempt ridicule?

Is it more deception in the form of deflection?

    "Typos are one thing,.. "

    _

Yes, I forgot a comma to clearly identify the subject in the sentence. Poor attempt to ridicule

  • I shouldn't tease people with obsessive compulsive disorder, but it's so much fun.

Keep up the good work, I might eventually deign to help you.

    (^.^)/

(It was more than a comma, you don't seem to be able to build noun clauses correctly)

  • "I shouldn't tease people with obsessive compulsive disorder, but it's so much fun." _ You describe being deceitful as "fun"? Operating with cognitive dissonance as as 'fun"? You make baseless accusations and cannot back any of them up, and this is "fun" to you? "Keep up the good work, I might eventually deign to help you." _ If you could just stay on topic and act with integrity, that would be all that's required. "It was more than a comma," _ No, the sentence was was just lacking a comma.
  • "It was more than a comma, you don't seem to be able to build noun clauses correctly"

    _

Yes, I'm going to take English courses from a 44 year old engineer who claims that emphasizing words with capitalization is a sign of illiteracy...

Additionally, I still await any citation for this assertion of yours....

  • You've stopped using capitalisation for emphasis because you realise it makes you look stupid.

I know that being quiet is often the hardest thing for an American to do but it's something you should consider.

  • "You've stopped using capitalisation for emphasis because you realise it makes you look stupid."

    _

    REALLY?

Your opinions are yours to hold dear, I suppose.

Have you got a citation yet?

"I know that being quiet is often the hardest thing for an American to do but it's something you should consider."

    _

While being deceitful and ignorant seems not only easy for you, but almost as if you apply your methods and lack of substance in your everyday life. Congratulations on your mediocrity.

  • Didn't your mother ever tell you that you don't have to blurt out everything that comes across your mind? The same thing applies on the internet.

  • "Didn't your mother ever tell you that you don't have to blurt out everything that comes across your mind? The same thing applies on the internet."

    _

I'll take your continued deflections as admittance to your errs.

Have a good life. I hope you try to live it a little more honestly in the future.

  • Parts of speech really kick your arse.

Err is a verb. Errs is the present third person singular. You need a noun. The noun of the verb "to err" is error. The pluralisation is errors.

  • "...and you'd still fail to make the point."

    _

While another had demonstrated your hypocrisy in the format of abstract humor; "I don't like people telling me what to do."...."So, I won't f*** off"-[Demonwulf (3 days ago)] , I just ridiculed you outright when you showed it.

Perhaps your failing to see the point, after two people showed it to you in two different manners, isn't my hurdle to overcome, but it is yours....

  • I don't like people telling me what to do.

    So I won't f*** off.

  • Support an action no matter how futile the effort? Does this guy even know what he is saying?

What good will it do for the reputation of a big time poster when he/she would start to support every petty or less petty grievance.

I know what would happen, you get these sorts of videos posted with a message that was already old when it was first introduced 4 years ago.

    I support sensible support!

    1 star!

  • So this is a long boring rant about what,?...apathy?

  • I don't know and I don't care.

  • what's he saying youtube isn't allowing?

  • Ok, about that other petition, it looks like it was the same one. My mistake, your not supposed to singe more than once right?

  • If I'm getting you right, your saying that the people that this video is aimed at have already started or supported initiatives before. Since things don't seem to have changed can I assume that those initiatives failed? Maybe that is the reason they think it won't work.

....or am I missing something? Sorry I'm a little confused.

There was another censorship partition video just a few days ago. I think it was separate from this. Maybe we should concentrate our efforts?

  • if the person startin the initiative is not impertan, someone with more carism(?) should make a better video

  • Sign the Petition but sadly the video is not worth watching - where's the humour, man?

  • look, I'll sign the petition, because I care... but man, this video is sucking the life out of me! thank God I've been watching this channel for a long time, because if this was the first vid I watched, I would've never subscribed!

  • 2:30 into your whiny rant I realized two things.

1- You still have not let us in on what the fuck you are rambling on about.

2- I have better things to do. Bye.

  • My reaction exactly.

  • i feel like i just lost a few brain cells after watching this whinny shit.

  • This video doesn't make it clear what he's talking about AT ALL. He's just yelling at youtube users for the crime of...

    ...

... youtube not giving a shit what we say as long as we're still using youtube.

-From a guy who got angry because CSPANjunkieDOTorg was hit with a takedown, but hey whatcha gonna do

  • If Youtube don't listen there are PLENTY of other very good video sites that hundreds of thousands or even millions of users can move to overnight with a well planned, well coordinated campaign. Take note YouTube.

  • sign the petition, it takes 2 seconds and its for free speech.

  • I signed. It is unimportant if signing works. It is important if I care. I think it causes other events. It is a snowball starting an avalanche. The petition indirectly cause a change.

  • Fuck you new youtube! The old youtube was better and the new channels sucks!

  • Online petitions don't do shit.

  • Do you also refuse to believe that you are better protected touching a bacteria or virus contaminated area with rubber gloves compared to without?

It's not rocket science - direct physical contact allows for transmission of foreign biological matter between two otherwise separate entities. A condom removes or minimizes the direct physical contact.

It's not 100% fail safe, but it's a lot better than nothing at all.

  • Is he going to accept "I don't like blackmailing"?

'Cause that's what he does. Do what I tell you or you are a....

  • I would sign the petition... but, when I have to include a street address, I pass.

  • make up one, i did.

  • If we take time to sign every initiative we will spend all our days with a pen in our hand ... that being said, I think freedom of speech is something we should never let go, and if you are promoting freedom of speech, kudos ... "the price of freedom is eternal vigilence"

  • I SIGNED I SIGNED!

  • wait, what's the difference between ignorance and apathy?

  • I signed .............

and like to thank u for that information

  • "We face a choice between slavery and freedom, we choose freedom(of speech)" Bundeskanzler Dr. Konrad Adenauer

    Peace

  • Thanks, FreeThinker. I followed-thru & signed petition. Much thanks! (Oh, and Happy New Year too!)

  • I'd rather all this time and effort go to setting up or looking for alternatives to youtube's quasi-monopoly of the whole internet video thing.

  • I have already singed the petition couple of weeks ago, and now I'm going to mirror this video too! ;-)

  • Realize Google is cooperating with the Chinese government's censorship efforts to smooth the way for expansion plans that could help boost future profits. Since they did this back in 2004 and their stock price well over 600 USD a share, I'd say it worked.

If there is money to be made freedom will take a back seat. Hey why not, blocking a few sites to 1.3 billion people is okay, it doesn't hurt anyone right? Wrong.

  • does anyone know the business relationship between youtube & google?

  • google owns youtube.

  • The problem is that if you understand YT's business model you will know that they do not want people like us on their site. They are in the business of selling an audience to advertisers. These advertisers only want to support a clean cut uncontroversial website. Atheists do not fit the bill.

Boycotts are out since they want us to leave anyway. 99% of the highly subscribed sites are made by retards for retards (see Fred), and these people are to shallow to care about such an issue.

  • @fathead8489 Okay and do you think that youtubes business model is good? You think we shouldn't even try to show them how wrong they are to do what they are doing? If you feel that way, why don't you make a video and a petition for youtube to change their statements to match their business model and stop being hypocrites. I support youtube in making decisions they feel are best for their company even if it's a very bad decision but I don't support lying about supporting free speech.

  • flameroller,

I'm not saying I agree. What I'm saying is the cause is hopeless. You could tell YT how wrong they are until you are blue in the face, the fact is they don't care, and never will. If every single atheist on YT made ten videos it wouldn't change a thing.

  • No but every youtuber took there videos to other sites.....competition topically gets a companies attention.

  • Can I mirror this video?

  • Justinfhtube:

Dude, you can mirror ANY video you want. You don't need permission from ANYONE on YouTube. Also, this message needs to get out there, so rozeboosje would really appreciate ANY support.

  • People need to learn that not everyone agrees with them, nor that everything they say will be kind. They need to grow a spine and understand that everyone has different views and WILL voice them.

Silencing doesn't work, it makes the voice stronger. The more flagging is done, the more attention it gets, and the more actions are taken to counter it.

  • A world without freedom is a cage. Freedom of Speech, Assembly and to Bare Arms are basic freedoms of the U.S. Many of the Bill of Rights Rights are in other countries declarations of Sovereignty and should be fought to be protected.

  • freedom of speech should be protected, youtube needs to figure that out

  • Couldn't watch this video. Big channels aren't doing enough to support freedom of speech? GTFO everyone I subscribe to is doing an excellent job. Attention seeker?

  • I also think youtube needs to be given some latitude as to what they do. The whole concept here is that a competitor can come along, but besides that there are some other alternatives that can act as a future workhorse such as the distributed Freenet approach and the well proven bittorrent scheme, for getting your message out. In that sense I view youtube as a nice thing to have but I definitely don't count on it.

  • *laugh*

    *laugh*

  • I posted this point on thunderfoot's channel. he's the only one that hasn't mirrored 'what islam fears: laughter'.

  • on another note, the whole Idead of 'supporting the initiative in order to have the right to say 'i told you so' later on' is silly. Later on when? In a year from now? what about the similar initiatives 3 years from now? Totally silly.

  • The only anitiative that'd work Is if we flase flag, and false dmca all the featured videos on youtube.

  • that would be awesome if it wasnt against the law

  • @newexperiment

    LOL @ U

    ...and LOL @ anonymolol

That would be so laughably counter-productive.

  • I don't agree. It's make clear to youtube and all their most prized users that the problem exists and isn't something to be ignored..

  • Lets protest censorship by censoring featured videos illegally! That makes lots of sense.

  • I'm not saying that we ought to do it. I'm just pointing out that the effects of doing it would be favorable.

  • @newexperiment

But do the ends justify the means? Would the effects really be favorable?

  • was your mistake to assume I thought the ends did justify the means in this instance.

Means are never justified outside of ends.

  • Haha, I know this guy isn't a native speaker but "put their money where their mouths are" made me chuckle :D

He's a cool guy, with cool aims!

  • Good point!

  • I disagree.

If freedom of speech is not granted, why on earth would you still insist upon contributing to this site? Live Leak vehemently maintains freedom of speech and that is the sole reason to why I choose to support and contribute to it.

You trade integrity in order to gain freedom?

    Ignore You Tube, go elsewhere.

  • I don't know how to mirror videos. :-(

  • Thats reverse psychology...............cool

  • Because YouTube was operating at a loss. It costs a ton of money to run a site like YouTube and Google knew this when they purchased YouTube. Google's idea was ad revenue (Corporatize YouTube and turn it into a mainstream pile of smelly dung just like what they did with the Mainstream Media). Difference is that we're here. If we keep fighting back and organize... we can win.

  • Name and address? No.

  • Giving up is never the best method. If we get the biggest name on YouTube to support us.. this means every single smaller user having their say thus making it cool to challenge youTube (and the big youtube names know that making a video about something that is cool will get them views) we can change the trend. It's on all of us. People Power. Marxism :)

  • Companies - the same as people - do not think of the consequences.

The DMCA was brought in to protect the music and movie companies from theft. Whether this is good or bad for the legitimate consumer is not my point here.

What I maintain is that it is tool, a tool that is being abused. So all it takes is to design and enact processes and procedures to cater for the consequences of all possibilities - fair and abuse.

It is now the responsibility of YouTube to ensure this.

  • I really don't give a shit about apathy.

    *ba-DUM tsssshhh!* :D

  • This is boring.

    Nice christmas tree, though.

  • @caltrop69

Perhaps is Michael Bay directed it you'd drool over it?

  • So, am I to get this correct - What you're saying is don't shoot the messenger and shooting the message is pointless as it is an idea which V for Vendetta so eloquently pointed out cannot be killed by being shot at? I'm good with that.

I think I once tried to say it as well. If you are NOT "a part" of the solution - you ARE the problem.

  • @JPO1618

That is true. But that's a problem dealing with intellectual property, not speech itself. Also, this is where the free market that the Internet almost is comes into play. Don't like YouTube? Fine. Vote with your virtual fee and leave to make a new site like the amazing atheist did.

  • @ZechsLightningBaron

I've read that before, but it doesn't really apply to what I'm saying. Yes, they're being hypocrites in their own goals and actions, but it's still not censorship. They still have the right to be hypocrites because they own the entity.

  • @jeffman204

Just because YouTube can get away with censoring doesn't mean it isn't censorship.

  • The dmca is a problem with the law. We cant blame youtube for following the law.

  • @BDMblue

I dunno, I think YouTube takes a shoot first ask questions later stance too often. I remember when the JREF channel was taken down instantly for no good reason, simply because someone falsely flagged some videos or filed some fraudulent DMCA's.

Seems to me the problem is things are too reminiscent of something like British libel laws. I think those filing DMCA's against someone should be required to justify their claim before it's acted on.

  • How many times do I have to remind people that YouTube blocking content is not censorship? That's like saying a person prohibiting the showing of a creationist video at the Smithsonian is censorship. As long as it is a privately owned entity, the owners have complete authority and right to choos what content they show.

  • @jeffman204

    From YouTube's Community Guidelines,

6th bullet down, underneath "Don't Cross the Line" Please note that the next paragraph underneath that states, "We Enforce These Guidelines"

"We encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view. But we don't permit hate speech (speech which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, and sexual orientation/gender identity). "

  • The problem is that there are people who abuse the ability to claim ownership and falsely flag a video without having ownership. And then they get away with no penalties.

  • signed and subed.

  • SIGNED

  • for a second there I thought it was Mike Myers.

  • I dont blame you, the resemblence is simply uncanny

  • The Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act...

Google/YouTube has seats on the Senate to reform this???

    LMAO

  • No, they don't. This isn't about that. I have friends who have posted videos with the same content that forty or so other people have posted around the same time (they are usually first), who get flagged as violating copyrights. Its the other posters who are flagging them. You don't have to prove a copyright claim with youtube apparently. Repeated accusations alone (not proof) are enough for account suspensions/closures.

  • Signed.

  • SIGNED !!!!

  • Thank you FFreeThinker for bringing this issue to wider audience!

  • A healthy and vibrant community depends on the ability to communicate with one another. Any limits placed upon one's freedoms of expression and freedoms of speech amount to harming society as a whole. We would be best served to engage in our own personal sense of tolerance and self-censorship when need be than on allowing external organizations and/or entities to set up stifling mechanisms that place limits on our abilities and desires to communicate and to learn.

  • ok...I signed the petition. I hope that many do. At this point, there are less than 1500 signatures. May youtube be thoughtful in how they process this petition.

  • Word,brother.

  • not working.. but I went to the original.

I'm unaware of this flagging you speak of.. does that mean your video is not featured in the front page?

so much drama in the world.. let us spread peace and love.. 2010 is upon us and I say, the world would be wise to walk in peace.. allow people to be who they are and find their own way.. be the best I/YOU/US/WE possible.. love is the answer to all the issues.. love and only love..

  • YouTube is Google. File a lawsuit if you dispute their policies. It may cost you a few hundred dollars to initiate, but your time can benefit countless people. For the rest of us, we cannot file a legal petition until our contractual rights a violated. The few that are hurt by false flagging must lead the legal battle. Only those directly hurt by YouTube's neglect have a legal claim to pursue.

  • Here in the uk a 30 second vide would probably take several minutes to upload.. but nvm

  • The problem is the Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act. They have to do this, or they are no longer legally protected and can be sued, by the content owners from genuine dmca claims, just because some random user from another country decided to upload a screener of dark knight to the server. If you want a policy change, we have to get the laws changed.

  • @Nocturnous Well yeah, I don't think that there should be no DMCA claims, but that it should be harder to file a claim. As it is, people who don't even have proof that they own content can file a claim against someone saying that content is stolen from them. Also, it would solve a lot of issues if people from YouTube actually viewed the videos rather than using an automated system.

  • Youtube didn't invent the policy. It doesn't matter if they view them or not, they legally have to block them from being accessed, and the dmca runs its course. Then depending on that outcome, they can reinstate it or take it down. Yes it's being exploited, and the law needs to change, but this campaign is based on the false premise, that it's youtube's policy, when they just adhere to the law, to protect themselves from lawsuits.

  • I'm a little lost here. Who is this guy scolding? Most of the atheist channels I'm subscribed to are supporting one initiative or another. Right now, the Green Revolution is big. Freedom of speech is a big issue on YT, but the situation in Iran is a matter of life and death. But there are many other issues too that saturate YT.

People can post or not post whatever they want. Get over it, they don't owe you anything.

  • Not really. They only support free speech and only care when their channels are being flagged. Roze is trying to create a movement for free speech but is being ignored by the big channels who seem to only care about ad revenue (when THEIR revenue is threatened we come to the aid but when our Free speech is threatened they remain silent).

  • Love your channel, but this vid is hard to watch haha

  • kinda redundant video but hey u got my support

  • I have no idea. You have my support however, I always think of Tubesville as a private enterprise, and if I'm not a cash customer, I don't get to negotiate. It's like coming to dinner as a guest, and insisting on cutting the bird.

I'll sign the thing though. After all, without us, their advertising is worthless, eh? Keep kicking them in the shins, bro.

    Peace out
