I mean, in the first game, he's just a poor whomp trying to earn equal rights for his people, and Mario shoots him down.

Now, he's been doing this for years and yet he's shot down twice, by Mario AND Luigi.

@scratch799 I thought much the same thing when i was yougner and encountered hi in Mario 64. However, I also figured they were just playing this for laughs and probably didn't think that far. Of course, Whomp King's demands are a bit on the unreasonable side.

im surprised that this galaxy wasn't in world S, really good description you put up. we can see how much easier mario 64 is compared to this game. those 64 levels are really basic next to the galaxy games

I think this stage is meant to be a breather stage as most of the challenges are pretty easy here.

@Overhazard I suppose I was the developers favorites stage from Mario 64, or something like that. The developers probally wanted to put a stage latter in the game where people could collect stars easier, in order to reach the final bowser stage.

Hey wait! I remember an earlier galaxy in the game also having the Whomp King and his fortress in it. The title does say RETURN of the Whomp King, doesn't it? Doesn't that make him one of the bosses you fight twice in this game, like Gobblegut?

I'm curious - does the old warp trick in the corner by the stairs with the whomps still work? I'm sure it doesn't, but. :)

Anyway, my own guess is they picked an earlier area because it's more recognizable. While most have seen the level (it's one of the first in 64, obviously), not everyone might've beaten it to the end. In which case I agree, I think this should have been an earlier galaxy, but I see their logic. :)

That's probably the best explanation--that it's a recognizable stage and Bob-omb Battlefield would be far, far too easy.

my mouth is literally open out of surprise. they made the entire Thwomp's Fortress level in here :| i definetely wanna see more of this. i still have to wait 8 days before i can get SMG2. if there is a Mario Bros 1 level in there i am going 2 faint out of also another difference is the elevator before u reach the top. in SM64 it was on the right wall not infront of u.

@realgod1002 Nah, there's nothing from the original Super Mario Bros. One galaxy is one of those weird floating paths in Super Mario Sunshine though, another is made of pieces of the Mario Sunshine stages (with Piantas), and another is made entirely of boss battles from the original Mario Galaxy.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 seems like heaps of fun, I don't know why people are complaining about it being too similar. More of the same can't be bad, if the same is great, right?

Well, anyway, out of all the videos you put up on Super Mario Galaxy 2 so far, this is my favorite, just because of how vast the level is and how much you get to explore. I look forward to getting Super Mario Galaxy 2.
