wow a gear review that also made me smile...that doesnt happen anymore, good stuff man! Wow I totally liked the GF90 over the shiva kt88, much more organic I just wonder now if the GF can go towards really high gain like the shiva20th does, and does anyone need the 90 is the GF45 plenty for most studio cats...all these questions....
@Hawkamps Thanks. The Goldfinger is more brown/plexi inspired, so it doesn't get as high gain as the Shiva 20th. With that said, I've been running my GF at about 6 and I get plenty of gain for 80s riff rock. I am a big fan of EL34s which is why I went with the GF90 - when recording, it is more open sounding than the Shiva 20th..
So yo think it is worth it to have both the 20th Shiva and the Goldfinger? My 20th Ann. Shiva has EL34s! Love it! Reminds me of a PWE Event Horizon. Was thinking of getting the Goldfinger 45 since I mostly play at home and jam with guys here and there.
They each have their own unique qualities. I like the Shiva for it's basic tried and true design, adjustable boost - it's great for all around live use - the KT88s are full sounding but don't have that EL34 cut. The GF90 is pure brown sound - and more of a Marshall EL34 vibe and edge to it...great for recording. Actually my fav is still my Ecstasy Classic. I've used it for so many years - it's still my go to amp.
