  • *1st pic comes up* Nice fan art!

    *2nd pic comes up* Ummmmmmmm

  • There was some pretty cute LA fanart I've never seen before in this video =)

  • You've got Marin!

Could this be your big chance?

  • Was this ever completed? Great Marin pics. Sad dreams always come to end...

  • @Billmaster20

well... i need to apologize for that. i had two or three pages down three years ago... and that was a very long time ago. I didn't get it up and running like i wanted too based on what I had at the time. I still plan to do this project down the line and maybe put it on a different name. I want to up my art skills more and more before I can do something Zelda related, and give it justice when it comes out.

  • @ryoga56 Thank for reply! I'm sure your do great. You are right though Zelda projects must give justice. =) Can't wait to check it! ;)

  • @ryoga56 marin did survive she turned into a seagull

  • You spelled friend wrong.

  • @RBEO22 Don't forget 'ledgend'

  • No, because the island was just created and maintained in the Wind Fish's dream. Once he awoken, the island was erased from the world and only Link survived, because he wasn't created by the Wind Fish.

But then again she is seen flying at the end...

  • So where's the video??

  • I always cry at the perfect ending of Link's Awakening... TT_TT

  • She actually really survived. You can get a perfect ending in Link's Awakening somehow and in the end Link looks at the sky remembering Marin's face when a seagull comes through it, following the Windfish

  • "She made a promise of getting off the island with a freind?"

First off, the spelling made me laugh.

Secondly, why is that phrased as a question? lol

  • Marin actually survived, remember how she said she wanted to be a seagull to fly to other places and sing?

( finish the game without dying and you will see what I mean hehe )

  • It is these very different rationalizations that make Zelda have such a powerful fanbase.

As stated in multiple interviews, Mr. Miyamoto "despises" sad endings, as he doesn't believe a story has ended unless the audience can accept the ending and move onto a different story.

As most people couldn't accept the ending, it is safe to assume that the story continues.

But right now, it only continues in our dreams.

    : )

  • Most people who played both of these games came to realize that the ending CHANGED. In the original, Marin had wings. In the DX version, she became a seagull.

This does show that the story writers at Nintendo did recognize her as a powerful element to the story, and thus took her from "vanishing" and let her "live" at the end.

A large portion of Zelda's story is the part that is interpreted and inferred by its fans. Any obscure rationalization is acceptable, and could possibly be canon...

  • ...autonomous from the Wind Fish (at least, she was by the end of the story). This is very important, as it separates the two characters, and herself from everyone else in the dream world.

She may not be around now, but as Link is "reborn" over and over, so to is Marin incarnated over and over in several games.

It is still my belief that "Marin" was an alternate translation of "Malon." And given the development team of this game's goal, I wouldn't doubt that this is so.

    Furthermore...

  • As Ocarina of Time happened BEFORE this game, but also before ALTTP, given the main character's look, I wouldn't say it wasn't the same Link in Oracle of Ages/Seasons.

As Marin doesn't make appearances in either game, it is safe to assume that she was never seen again in his current incarnation. Sad, but probably true.

But supplementing some common fiction/fantasy principles in place of a complete lack of them in any of Nintendo's stories, I think it is safe to assume that Marin was...

  • The legend of Zelda's stories are documented all in a chronological order by Nintendo.

Marin doesn't have to "survive." She was a very powerful emotional device in the story, and said power depended on her NOT surviving.

However, in the interest of helping Link's closest incarnation of a love interest EVER, I'll throw some creative ideas out there.

  • i have only ever seen 1 whole zelda game and that's this and i usually don't like the background characters just like there to develop story but marin is an awesome video game character

  • WIERD

  • She kind of did survive but in a different form. In Ocarina of Time there's Maron who loves to sing and lives in a farm with her dad. She's kind of the spiritual sucessor to Marin. At least that's what i like to think.

  • improbable. the way the zelda games are laid out cronologically the maron from OoT would come before Marin in LA

  • actually, only zelda 1 to 4, means the legend of zelda, links adventure, a link to the pat and this one, were in a storyline, after them, they just reinvited the story. because you killed ganon for good in part 3

  • None of the Zelda games make any sense chronologically. They're all different stories with the same main character.

  • i beg to differ V_V

  • @UBERGRIMKVLT Or the same story told a little different each time.

  • No... el fan art lo caga todo. La historia es tal y como se mostró. Quien intente retocarla, la fastidia mucho pero mucho.

  • Yo Se!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ¿?

  • There was a point where on the beach, Marin wished to become a seagull so she could sing to people. At the end of the game, if one beat it without dying, they see her picture fade out into a seagull- suggesting that the Wind Fish grants her wish.

  • how can someone beat it if he/she dye? Do you mean without turning off the game boy?

  • If you lose all your hearts, you still have a choice to continue. You have to make sure that you never lose all your hearts. You can save and turn off the Game Boy, though.

  • Ok.

  • shes the zelda in this game.. guys its really obvious... the windfish sought out link because he had the triforce of courage and pulled link into his dream to save him from nightmare....

  • You really need to learn how to spell and use grammar. Just saying.

  • she couldn't have possibly survived. she never existed to begin with, she was just a figment of the windfish's imagination.

  • Actually, she was a figment of Link's imagination.

  • lol, I beat this game when I was a kid; I don't think the Matrix was even out yet.

But the Storyline is definitely different. It's not for everyone, but a personal fav of mine nonetheless =)

  • NyloStar is right., and jngeorge too.

And you didn't understand the essence of Matrix, I see... It's more a philosofic theme/question than a simply story of a videogame.

Matrix and Link's Awakening have nothing to do. Both they are great works, but very different.

  • Comment removed

  • shes reincarnation of rito

  • I say don't Put marin in future games- Might ruin La.......

    But yeah Marin+seagull= rito :P

  • In Wind Waker there are a lot of Seagulls.

No relevance, but it's totally true.

  • Marin + Seagull = Rito?!? XD

  • OVERCLOCKED REMIX FUCK YEAH!

  • ... weird pics...

  • Marin + Links awakenign The Best Zelda Game!!,

''A Legend That Fits In The Palm Of Your Hand''

I Say they include Marin in the future Zelda games

Well seeing that she turned into a seagull by the windfish, they should put her somewhere in the nest game, lik a character having a pet seagull named Marin, or a seagull singing The ballad of the wind fish

  • That first picture with Link washed up on the shore makes me wonder if Marin secretly took a peak up Link's "dress".

  • marin and look go great together and i would love to see her in another zelda game. hmm ever wondered if link may be like ash has all the pretty girls but never dates them lol HMM

  • Where can I get an MP3 of this version of Ballad of the Wind Fish at 0:33?

  • in the end she turns into a seagull

  • for the start bit, reading all that about Marin and Link, i nearly cried, don't know why, but her fate seemed so sad, trapped on an island in a dream

  • you kow?, the crew from nintendo was making a sequel of this game, but they stoped it, all because the nintendo 64 was comming out, with a 43% of the game they stopped.

wish they make the sequel on the nintendo ds.

  • I honestly hope they do make a sequel on the DS, Link and Marin reuniting would be a great scene

  • OC Remix man ;)

  • What was that techno song?! i want it!!!!please tell me where did u got it

  • I think its called "Its My Turn to Dream" but I forget who made it . . .

theres a lead for ya tho =]

  • I was so sad when the island disappeared :( but im happy cause marin turned into one of those seagulls and she got her wish fulfilled

  • Marin was actualy one of the seagles in the end of links awakening you see if you beat the game perfect you will see Marin turn into a seagle.

  • Wasn't it just a winged Marin in the original version? (non-DX)

  • how dare you say that! >:(

  • what I found out in Zelda Majora's mask is the song and A picture of the wind fish in the bomber's lab. lift up the pots and look at the ground you will see it. :D

  • Anyone think we'll ever see or hear from the Windfish or even see any references to this game again? I haven't seen any yet, but I'm hopeful.

  • actually the girl was the wind fish

  • nope she transforms into a seagull

  • marin survived as a seagull, look up the perfect ending, (you see her face in the sky, and when the face disaperes, you see a seagull, that is her, like she wished)(if only that link had the wind waker, he cold talk to her again by possessing a seagull)

  • I like the use of remixes. Amazingly, I recognized both.

  • actually the girl who woke up the guy is gone and when the egg thing was gone. her and her music was trapped in the egg

  • oh whats also the 2nd song?

  • I love marin she is so sweet and cute.

  • COMING SOON (ish)

  • marin survives, at the end of the game, if you didn't die in the all game, after the credits scroll, marin's face appears in the sky and then a wingull appear flying to the horizons, she makes her dream true, in the middle of the game, when marin chats with link in the beach, she told him that she want to see what are outside of the island, being like a wingull and fly around the world, and maybe, the windfish makes true her wish.

  • i'm not sure but i played zelda links awakening and i dont kno if you guys are talkin about the game or a cartoon that i should kno about

  • She did survive at the end if you got no deaths. She turns into an angel in the original version and into a seagull in the DX version

  • that, or maybe the seagul is telling link were is she.

  • If she survived, when's the sequel. 2007 is already gone.

  • ACTUALLY SHE DOES SURVIVE! (duh.)

  • I see someone else also frequents the Link's Awakening section of Ocremix. Can't wait to see it.

  • Doesn't Marin have 'something' to do with Malon from Lon Lon Ranch?

  • umm... I dont think so, why?

  • I don't know. .-.

The Zelda games story developers keep recycling characters all the time. ._.

  • There's a point in that, and it could be interpreted different ways.

  • I actually don't know about that. You can see that in OOT, that there is Malon and Talon from the Ranch like he said.. As is Marin and Tarin from Link's Awakening. Both characters are similar physically and in Majora's, they mention the "Ballad of the Wind Fish" as a song to be played by the Zora band. Also, there is the fact that they very well could be descendants of Marin and Tarin as is Zelda and Link. Oh, and both Malon and Marin sing too. Everything is unconfirmed, but still very possible.

  • damn striaght

  • Everyone has their opinion of the LOZ timelines right? Personally, I think it was OoT (Seeing as LttP and OoT are nearly the same), MM and THEN Link's Awakening (Explaining Link's dissapperance in Wind Waker) If Link was dreaming of Kohilent then I imagine that he dreamt of Malon in the form of Marin. 8D Course, this is my own theory (...and we all know Link and Marin have the hots for each other! ;p)

  • Lol. That makes sense. Though I like to think of MM as a horrible nightmare of OOT. xD All we know is that WW and PH definitely took place after OOT, so those are the recent ones. Or so I heard. Then there's talk about how TP took place at the very beginning. I dunno..

As for the songs.. I, too, recognized them instantly. But that's because I have them. xD The first one is "Seaside Lullaby", and the second one is "It's My Turn to Dream". I like the second one the best. It's techno. =P

  • Thanks for leting me know the songs. I just love marin so much.

  • Heh. I love to help. =P I also find it somewhat upsetting when I hear a good song used, but no source of where it can be found or what it is. So I didn't want people to have to go through the same thing if I could help it.

  • K thanks ^_^

  • well, majora's mask in the time line came right after OOT, because its the same link...the first LoZ was the very first in the time line, as far as i know...however, OOT could've been the first, cause after that the Adult link and kid link seperate "universes" were affected by the actions that take place in OOT. in the kid universe, ganon has not been defeated, in the adult link universe, ganon is trapped in the shadow realm...yay, my research is paying off! WW took place 1000 years after OOT.

  • Well technically both the "universes" you speak of are just different points in the timeline. One is the present and the other is the future, after 7 years. I'm thinking that when Link goes back after beating Ganon, he goes back far enough where the doors have yet to be opened by Link. This then gives him time to go to MM and do the things there.

  • yes, your right...also, dont you think its weird that how mojara's mask revolves more around time than Ocarina of TIME!?

  • Yeah, that is a good point. Lol. I never understood why that's true. OOT actually doesn't require you to hop around in time as much as MM.

  • Hey search "Legend of Zelda Time line", GameTrailers did a good job piecing it together.

The time line is way crazy too, there are two separate time lines after OoT, one where Link returns as a kid and one where Zelda stays in the current time (7 years in the future) and keeps Ganondorfs soul bound there.

Its crazy, its about an hour long and it goes over most of the series titles and lays them out onto the time line.

  • well that was the theme of that link, time, as was the theme of wind with the toony links and mabe this one too

  • but at the end of the oracle games link leave on a boat.....

  • That is true, but he is possible leaving to go to the other, either Holodrum or Labrynna depending on the game. I'm not sure but it makes sense.

  • @ryoga56 The Japanese language doesn't distinguish between R and L, so it's entirely possible that the characters may have had the same names.

  • @DestinyHeroMovieDude Her belt buckle is shaped like bowser's head...

  • @DestinyHeroMovieDude She was pretty much a clone of Marin

  • what was the first song called? It was so pretty...

  • it was a remix of the balled of the windfish, which is a song off the game limks awakening, which is where marin comes from

  • what's with all the Marin fans? LA was a great game but I can't remember what made Marin so great can someone refresh my memory?

  • Whoever you are, if you read and listened closely about who Marin was and how she contributed to the series you would understand. In a way she made Link feel like there was more out there besides killing off monsters.

  • and taugh him how to Jam!

  • Oh and that too ^-^

  • @fireadept007 Marin was just a great, sweet characer, and she was a big part in the story, but didn't always need saving, like Zelda. And she's the typical pretty island girl, so whats not to like?

  • what is the 2nd song played it sounds interesting?

  • You can find it on overclocked remix its called the "song of the windfish its my turn to dream "

  • Yeah i think she turned into a seagull. any way cool vid but i dont get it either!

  • I would like to see that, but didn't Marin turn into a seagull and fly away? Marin was cool.

  • I love Marin, and my name is Marin too!

  • this was my favorite video game in the world!probably cause it was like the first one i ever played!im remeber i got for easter in 97!thank you g-ma louis

  • The first drawing reminds me of some ranma 1/2 picture... And yes, I like Marin. The Marin's throphy in ssb meele is overkill.

  • cool but I don't relly get it 4/5

  • Intresting
