Larry, the writers always said that they were trying to grab a microcosm of "Real Life" Apparently Biker Clubs are all Racist. Just for the Record, I rode with a Club for many years (I'm 53) The Sgt at Arms was a guy we called "Black Tony" he was one of the nicest guys in the club – We called him Black Tony because we had another Tony who wasn’t black (BTW Tony was NOT the only Black guy in our club). But I've never pictured the Sons like "good" and the Niners "bad" - they're both criminal gangs, they do bad shit and they compete and fight against each other. I don't see SoA as a racist show. It deals with characters who are flawed but doesn't present them as stereotypes. The Niners aren't shown in any negative light on the basis of race - they are criminals who murder but ethnicity isn't relevant to whether they or any other character is morally good or bad. In fact, the Niners in the limited screen time they have had, are actually quite 'honourable' and Leroy's reaction to the death of his girl was a universally human expression of grief and anger.

Anyway, I think you've got it wrong. Jax didn't pin the shooting on the niners, it was Unser who said it was "two african american, but the window was tinted, I couldn't get a good look". He didn't even say it was the niners, Tig went ahead and made that assumption himself. He fucked up and Jax was angry at him for atacking the niners, because he doesn't want a war with them. Also Jax tried to save them at the warehouse too. So don't be angry at Jax, it wasn't him.

It was when I first saw "The Defiant Ones", a black and white movie, that was about 2 people (one black and one white) sticking together because they have to, and they get to like eachother. What was done in this episode frustrated me, and I honestly was tempted not to watch the rest after Jax pinned it on Leroy. I feel like the show has let me down...and that feeling has been building through this whole season. And also, if you recall, the new sheriff's role in the show has a deep tie to racial tension as well. It seems like the writers decided to amp up the racism in this season A LOT. I admit I was expecting racism from the characters since the beginning, but not this way.

I do think that the show has a lot of racial elements in it but I also understand that it is just tv show. I've watched the show since the beginning and I have also seen the Sons kill people from all different races. Black, white, Mexicans, and women all have died at the hands of the SOA. I DO support your rant on the way minorities are portrayed in the media but I don't see how it apply's to this particular episode. I think they wanted to show how Tig lost it because he felt guilty.

While I do agree with your rant as a whole, I think you're overreacting with this episode's particular example. He needed someone to blame that would make sense, and how many options did he really have to point the finger at?

@Otakuassemble as someone who is black and jewish, I feel you. I love the show but I felt betrayed by what Kurt Sutter did to the Niners. As much as I love the SONS I am hoping that the writers rethink what they did and make it up to the Niners next season. I want the issue to resolve next season, only because I do not think there is enough time for season 4 to do so properly.

I feel you bruh I was also not happy with what happened with the niners. As much as love the show and I love the sons, the writers do need to tone down the racism. Kurt Sutter did say in his youtube videos that race would play a big part in this season but the way it was done is this episode was a little over the top.
