  • Looks and sounds like you're hiding a nuke in it.

  • Scott Hill of Fu Manchu tone!!!!!!

  • where can I buy that pedal!

  • My high school girlfriend had a big muff.

  • @alanpetsche in high school? I bet she had a little big muff.

  • Wow! Brings back memories of my wilder days back in the 70s. I had a pedal exactly like that, a Cry Baby, an old beat up bass amp, and a pawn shop 57 Gibson ES330 hollow body. Used heavy gauge strings and man talk about a big sound! Only thing I still have is the guitar. Now it's easily worth ten times what I paid for it. As Alvin Lee said... "but I'd never sell my guitar!"

  • @digidanshow so, left it in inheritance... to me)

  • I had that same pedal but someone stole it from me including my Electro Harmonix Harmony Man. Two pedals stolen from me. *%@*#*(^!@*%*#$*(^#%@WTF???? makes me mad.

  • My dream pedal! Sucks that they can only be found for like 700$ on ebay tough.. ..I wonder how close the China Fuzz is to the real deal..

  • Sounds terrible

  • that beginning sounded fucking awesome! what was that, the neck PUP or something?

  • Hey - I've got one of these in mint shape, that I bought new in 1977. Are they worth anything? It is absolutely obscene when used on a bass rig.

  • @Prestostark i will buy it from you

  • @sublime88sublime I'll think about it. I've had it forever and I'm kinda attached to it...Maybe I'll post a video of the Super Fuzz through my Univox bass rig....

  • @Prestostark i completely understand. i would love to watch that video, i can only imagine how it feels when you crank it up haha

  • this is the best fuzz i've ever heard the tone is perfect and fat as hell

    sounds kinda sinister

  • tasty

  • that first note reminded me of magic carpet ride!

  • I was going to write something crude, about ear porno or something...then I read the comments.

    I see I'm not alone...

We may all need help...not that we care...

  • Turn the fuzz knobs all the way to 11 !

  • This sound like black dead

  • I used to own one of these. Never used the scooped tone much. Always had the drive up full. I miss it.

  • i NEEDS this muthafucka

  • Wow I'm pretty sure I just shat my pants

  • What pedal do you think sounds closest to this one?

  • @jonfender123 I have the mjm china fuzz and I can get the exact sound from this demo with it. I would check out the wattson superfuzz too cuz the trimpot is easier to access (imho it should be its own external knob) and it has a battery hatch so you wont be stripping the screws.

  • oh that's so dirty, so filthy, so hot and sexy.. *eargasm

  • whooo .... when that switch flipped it reminded me of the beginning of Breaksong from Vanilla Fudge ... awesome!

  • The only stompbox Townshend used in the 70's.

  • fuck this poor guitar play

  • Is this like a Big Muff just better? Does it give sustain like a muff?

  • you still can't play

  • Mudhoney sound

  • pedals nowadays arent as phat and crispy as oldshool ones

  • SELL ME THIS!!!!!! NOW!!!

  • i like this pedal. The big muff sounds a little synthy.

  • Buy one uni-fuzz (shin-ei), sound a lot like the grey version. Buy another, orange version sound killer. Sold it !!! 3 years later i buy another orange version sound even better than the first one. You can also have a companion fuzz wha for 150$ on ebay...but the orange version is the best...

  • does anyone know if this univox superfuzz is the same as the one in the grey casing with the little silver button to enable the effect? For example the first vid on youtube when you type in univox super fuzz?sound wise? thanks!!

  • yeah, i think its exactly the same, just in an other case.

  • ohk thanks a lot!!!

  • The grey one has no bias pot peacemusic17 which lets you adjust the octave sound(i think..dont quote me on it)

and as for sound I believe that the grey one sounds a bit more raw and dirty where as by the time they made the orange one univox had perfected the design a bit. I have the grey one and its completely nuts.

  • Pete Townshend of the Who used one of these Univox Super Fuzzes, especially on the album The Who Live At Leeds and the Woodstock performance.

  • I've tried the Roger Mayer stone-x fuzz! It's very amazing!

I've tried it with the whole fuzz dist and the guitar vol at ten and when I began to turn off the guitar pot the distostion turned down till becoming totally clean!!!

In other words you have the immediate control of the gain without any pedal or switch. And a great dirty clean sound! GREAT!

  • Evil

    Fuzz

    Rock

    Ironman

    Black

    Sabbath

    U follow me?

  • @PizzaPusher2 efribsu? iDontEven.

  • Check out Brad of Creepy Fingers FX who builds an exact copy of the SuperFuzz right down to the correct xistors. I love mine!

  • how much do they cost?? There's not a price in his site......

The R Mayer one is about $250..too much for my opinion...

  • Try out Freekish Blues Freek Out! Fuzz

    IT ROCKs!

  • You can by a byoc clone for under $100 if you know how to solder. Mine sounds amazing. Even has a bias pot to tweak it.

  • Funky-ass rockin' Hillel Slovak tone. I want one of these sooo bad. I LOVE the Big Muff, but the Superfuzz kicks big muff's ass!

  • big muff is a gas now..there are new good brand that kick muff's ass..

  • which one are you talkin about?

  • @davidjohen U like the Swollen Pickle pedal?

  • @davidjohen buy a wattson they still make the superfuzz and it sounds killer almost exactly the real thing i cant even tell them apart other than the obvious looks

  • @GrowTheCaine they don't thoughi tried it. so i made my own i bought the pcb off of ebay and found some really old guides and put it together sounds just like this one

  • @mrshnarfles well i suppose if you want the old school Germanium transistor fuzz i dont think the wattson sells that one its a silicon one but its still a pretty awesome fuzz

  • @GrowTheCaine yeah i got germanium diodes in there it sounds great...

  • @mrshnarfles if you have problems with the temprature of the transistors try some mineral oil its really good for for containing the heat from the electricity

  • @davidjohen There's one on eBay for sale right now!

  • i love the super fuzz its such a ridiculous tone , my soind engineer thinks it sounds like notes exploding into fuzzy bombs of intense sound , his own words haha

  • 1:19 is some nice tone there.

  • That would sound sweet through my Hiwatt

  • I want one, play some old _Nirvana

  • I heard kurt actualy had this exact same pedal so you will be just fine!

  • Pete used the lower configuration and Jimi the second one..Right?

  • Jimi used Arbiter fuzz? + Wah

  • actually he used used a fuzz face, a vox wha and a univibe..

He kept the univibe and the wha switched on using them like other EQ configuration and like a light trem effect almost confused with the original sound. Kind of distorded spacy sound..the perfect set up!

  • yeh but now it's a crap..

  • lawl. i just saw this exact same superfuzz over at the guitarcenter in hollywood in teh vintage room lawl. i think they were selling it for like $200 lawl

  • you should have bought it and gave it too me

  • I Have this exact model superfuzz and i still play wit it

  • I managed to find one of these at a flea market for $15 back in the mid-1990's. The seller was like "Whaddya want that ol' piece of crap for? If you like that junk you'll probably also like this shitty guitar I've got for sale." The guitar turned out to be a Travis Bean he was selling for $150in order to afford a brand-new Epiphone(!) Les Paul. I didn't need any further encouragement.

  • great story!

  • I got a Maestro Phaser at some old guys Garage sale for 5$..he said ..It dosent work..Just needed a new battery snap!

  • dude let me have it...

  • The big muff is nothing like this. I own one of em. I would say the closest thing to this would be the china fuzz, considering it is the same damn thing.

  • IS THIS PEDAL ON SALE NOWADAY ? DO you have idea about how much could it cost?

  • OMG I well want one!

  • COS NOW I WANNA BE YOUR DOG

  • Sounds great but the sound needs to be a little clearer. It reminds me of the old days lol

  • cleaner is lamer it needs an extra Big Muff with it

  • The limited Coffin Bat Fuzz and the Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz i had heard where made to mimic this famouse pedal.

  • all you need now is a Big Muff beside it :D

  • That's the first fuzz box I owned. I haven't heard anything that even comes close to the balls this pedal has.

  • ive went through 5 fuzz pedals and cant get the sound,i guess i need the real thing

  • Look for one, I haven't found anything in 30 years that's even close to the sound of this pedal. It would be worth it to find one, if you like the sound.

  • oh man i love the sound,i never used one though, i havnt even been around for 15 years lol,but there were some on ebay for 500$ it was to much money lol

  • $500 wow! I paid around $20-$30, but I bought mine new in the early 70s.

  • lol yea, there was one starting at 50$ but the auction closed around 300$

  • NOW THIS IS FAT!!!!!!!

  • Great Demo! I found a superfuzz at a thrift store for 3 bucks about 6 years ago. Best single pedal I have ever used. Had to sell it to pay the rent. Miss it dearly. When set for kill, this thing sounds like your amp is about to explode!

  • 3 bucks?! Fuck you're lucky (until you sold it of course). I guess those folks at thrift stores really have no clue what things are worth.

  • Its like stepping on a landmine!

I wish I had that, sounds great.

  • Brings back memories..bought mine new for less than 60.00 or so in the seventies.Gave it away once, got it back...then sold it a while back on e-bay for 500.00!!

  • VIVA SUPERFUZZ

this and the mosrite fuzzrite are probably my fav fuzz pedals

  • Wow! My very first fuzz pedal back in '74!

  • is this good for playing some "Who" stuff?

  • I Seen pics of pete Townsend using one back in the 70's,so yes.

  • what guitar are you using..sounds aweome

  • i just got this yesterday and it sounds great and a great antique!

  • godamn i want one. lol if only you knew the list of pedal i want.

  • Black Sabbath in a box !!!

  • i have that EXACT one, but the red is black and the pedal part where you push down is some weird green colour...

  • I love this little monster.

  • THIS IS THE BEST FUZZ TONE PEDAL. I BOUGHT A ONE ONE MONTH AGO FOR 58 DOLLARS. IT'S FROM THE 70s BUT THERE ARE NO DATES OR SOMETHING. IT'S BRUTAL. GREETINGS FROM PERU

  • what would be s similar (cheaper) pedal, good for playing doom metal? (high on fire, electric wizard)

  • Guyatone tz-2 (but there isn't the tone switch).

  • Some type of fuzz pedal and an overdrive pedal. Try to play through a bass rig.

  • do all pedals work with every amp???

the book that came with my amp suggested two pedals but i'm jw if it matters

  • "do all pedals work with every amp???"

    yes.

  • depends on what amp and what effect...solid state amps usually do ok with most effects except Fuzz Faces becuase they use transistors that react different with different things....tube amps are usually the way to go becuase they have such a clean crisp sound and just about every pedal works amazingly with it.

  • Interesting, I had no idea it did the octave thing as well.

  • can someone tell me an actual pedal that makes a similar sound ¿?

  • Wattson SuperFuzz. I've owned this one and the earlier version. Wattson has the sound nailed. And only $150 as opposed to $400 for a beat up original on eBay.

  • This one. Univox Super-Fuzz. It's an actual pedal. Your eyes are not deceiving you.

  • i just bought one cant wait to get it

  • That's awesome

  • that's CRAZY! I want it!

  • yup ..thats the shit man..oldschoool

  • Huge one.

  • That one is cool

  • this thing sounds insane....what guitar are you using?

  • Sometimes almost a distortion. Kinda hi gain...you feel the fuzz when soloing.

  • Hey, just got one of these thru ebay, great harmonics when you hit that switch, nice!

    - Orange Fuzz
