An AWD Evo/Eclipse/Talon/STi would be nice,BETTER than a Civic EVEN, but they are much more $ to do up. Sounds like you've seen alot of careless sobs to me, if you respect your car hopefully shit like that won't happen.

  • Whatever floats your boat. Handling "beautifully" is using the word pretty loosely. Civics will only handle well to a point as it is fwd, front heavy with a narrow track and wheelbase. As long as your having fun. Expect to be challenged on your biased opinions. Honda's have plenty of shortcomings and frankly although decent cars their cost doesn't justify owning one. If one was rich why would one bother with a Honda? That makes them overpriced.

  • If one was RICH and wanted to do a Honda, they would do an S2000 or NSX. But if I had that kind of money, I would do a MKIV Supra, or an R34 Skyline. Seeing as that I don't make much, but want to do an import, a 3dr Civic is a great choice for a street car.

There are other japanese cars besides Honda, you know. try Mitsubishi, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda. I also love domestic tuners. I love to see saturns and cavaliers, escorts,neons, and focuses with the same typical "Honda Mods", just so they can show that you dont have to be an import to be fast.

For one thing all real performance cars have always been rear or AWD.Don't get me wrong, I respect some nice civics that are actually fast, but be different for once.   • If thats true, then why do the Japanese make rally and circuit racers out of Civic chassis?? My EK hatch is a very popular body for circuit races over there, and you know what? The real difference is what they put under the hood of their cars compared to ours. Type R engine, B series twin cam blocks... pretty much what u find in a 'lude and s2000 can be put in a Civic chassis, not including turbo kits... In Japan, Civics have been one of the biggest tuner cars.

Because I know I could swap and LS Intgra non-vtec and tranny and then after rebuilding stock internals, throw a T3 .60 flange turbo kit on it pushing about 500-600 whp for about 8-10 grand. There is a video on here of a guy with that exact setup and he races and keeps up with an SRT-10 Viper.

YES, a REBUILT (all stock internals replaced! rods,pistons, cam shaft) twin cam Honda block, VTEC or even the LS non-VTEC are capable of handling 500-600 hp. Instead of spouting off bs you don't know, why don't you look into Honda forums and see dyno sheets and talk to guys who have accomplished this. You don't have to swap in an aftermarket tranny either (poss. a drive shaft)just flywheel and clutch. FI over NA bey0tch!

What goof would claim a Honda is cheaper to go fast than a domestic.

For example take a stock 225hp/300lbs 5.0 and put a S.C.,heads, exhaust and the usual TB, CAI, etc and make 500 hp would cost more than taking a 140hp integra and modifying it to make 500 hp eh? Just this last issue a dragger wanted to see how hard he could push his turboed B18C before it blew up, he was rebuilding. 832 hp, with only 70 shot of NOS...

  • Ok, how about a built b18c1 1.8 liter dohc vtec motor, stock rated at 170hp. The engine was obviously rebuilt for very low comp, retarded timing, so it could andle probably 30-35 lbs of boost, and 150shot of NITRIOUS. But it's a drag Honda, not something I'm interested in building. I'm doing a turbo sohc vtec build, it's a 1.6, and I aim to make 220+hp, just a modest street car that will whomp on stock v8's and other imports.

  • Did I say stock block? Nope. Of course it would need sleeved, H beam rods, forged pistons... lol not an ls1 maybe, but lt1's would be possible. My build will give me a limit at about 300+hp, with good tuning and managment if I want that. I eventually would like to at least get 250, and considering my car weighs 2200 lbs, my only issue would be grip/traction. Any 5.7 that isn't factory high output or modded won't stand a chance.

Motherfucker, I just built a factory 4 banger that made about 100+hp into something that will beat something with double the cylinders and 4x the displacement. Example against other turbo 4cyl, 250hp is more than what an SRT4 makes, and they consistently run mid 12's. I will made my car run better times cheaper than what one of those run.

  • Watch some videos on the srt4, they DO run in 12's with stock motor and turbo, maybe a little tuning involved. Are you smoking crack, I have a little 1.6 liter engine thats still making better gas mileage whomping on v8's, so what if it's built, the car could have been made this way from the factory if Honda wanted, because it is still a reliable daily driver car. The best part is seeing the look on v8 driver's face when the little "riceburner" hands his ass to him.

  • DUMBASS, an SRT4 came FACTORY with a turboed 2.4liter, just like the PT Cruiser GT. And with tuning, they would run high 12's with NOTHING else done. Your v8 makes 24mpg, your point?? A turboed Civic could make all that power and still make 30+mpg.
