American idol judges and mentors always tell the contestants to open their eyes when singing to connect to the audiences- why can't kara open hers? is it that hard to sing with eyes opened?

@chuckwin2... First, you must not have heard any of Jason Reeve's other songs that he has written and sang, because he has one of the most pure, natural tones I have ever heard. Second, men don't sing "alto" parts...I think what you meant was "baritone"..."alto" is a term for women singers singing the second part. I am a choir teacher and a singer myself....so I believe I probably know a little bit more about the mechanics of the singing voice than you do.
Honestly, I've seen Kara Dioguardi sing better. But I think she has a really nice voice and I really like this song, and a lot of the other songs she's written. (:

Kara sings great, she writes amazing songs, and she is beautiful. The thing that throws her off for me is her performance. She is so passionate about the song that the way she moves is awkward. If she could look at the audience and try not to make so many facial expressions, it would be better.

Guys you have to no-they are doing an accoustic version with not much aid on stage-and glaring lights and all...as a performer....sometimes you need to do this to "feel" the song amidst the blaring lights etc....so she is great to me....despite eyes close etc

half the people i talk to says she is ugly and can't sing... but *I* think shes BEAUTIFUL and can sing better than a LOT of the people out there today! and i think her voice and jasons voice blend well together(: thanks for sharing!!

Kara is such an amazing songwriter and singer! She's amazing. For the Kara fans who don't know, you NEED to check out Platinum Weird, she sings in that band and it's just awesome!!!!

First time hearing her sing.She's amazing.I only know her when she started American Idol.I did not know she was a singer.My friend says I should look her up on here and hear her out myself.You notice the whole time she was singing she had her eyes close.Amazing voice I like her.

Kara probably likes the relaxed schedule of American Idol, writing for other artists rather than taking on a grueling road schedule. I can't blame her, If I was that talented I would do the same thing.

Colbie Caillat and Jason Reeves should do the duet instead. Their voices go better together. Just saying. Both Kara and Jason have great voices but they just don't sound fantastic together.

I prefer their version much more than Katharine McPhee's with Jason. The songwriters singing their own song, that's how it should be :)

Guys you have to no-they are doing an accoustic version with not much aid on stage-and glaring lights and all...as a performer....sometimes you need to do this to "feel" the song amidst the blaring lights etc....so she is great to me....despite eyes close etc

I don't like Kara's voice personally. She should stay writing, and producing. I feel kinda like she's trying too hard to be a singer.

she sings beautifully. i'm a huge fan of kara. for the people are are bashing, you don't have to like her but to say she sucks because her eyes are closed is a little ridiculous. the unnecessary kara bashing is really old now.

She's got a good voice but she could never become hugely successful. She has no charisma at all. She needs to stick to what she's good at : writing commercial songs.
