there are huge glitches much glichier than this in games i cant even spell.......thats a small exploit WHICH IS NOT COMPLETLEY PTCHED, the way i use it now (for PC version on Jan 29 2009) is click crouch and 0.5 seconds later (crouch already 50% done) hit jump and viola a crouch jump. Valve does not look for exploits on youtube, they have bigger fish to fry. They are preparing for the scout patch now....
Heh, you do relies that this video was posted waay way way back. Almost a year ago. The crouch jump let you get outside the map and thrust me, it was so big that every server had atleast 1 player doing it. Atleast on the servers I played back them.

If you actualy HL1, in the tutorial it tells you how to move, then climb, then crouch, then jump, then after everything exept the weapons training it says the following "for most obsticals in the game you will need to perform a duck jump (crouch jump) to do this, jump then crouch immediatly the get into the pipe...

I think there are some people though that did it for the sake of patching it, and not because of fame or otherwise.
Look: suppose you are a new player who catches on skywalking quickly. You'd be like "Wow, this is awesome, I can get into the air!"
But if you were a person on the other team, having to face people who are skywalking, you'd think "Aw man, this sucks!" because people are using exploits to their advantage.
My point is, it's a double-edged sword: it can both help and hurt.
The other thing is that Valve might have already known crouch jumping existed long before the number of vids multiplied, which means the reason crouch jumping was patched soon after the video was posted is coincidential.
Honestly? This game is fun because of the teamplay and tactics it requires. Using a glitch to cheat that well-balanced system is just ruining what makes it fun, especially for your opponents (and many of your teammates). So, I just think it's good that they get fixed.
Crouch jumping has never been a 'glitch' in Valve games - the Half-Life Hazard Course (tutorial) TAUGHT you how to do it for God's sake. It wasn't possible to finish the tutorial OR the game without being able to do it!

Wrong. You are referring to Jump-Crouch. Where you jump then crouch to come higher in the air.
Crouch-Jump was a exploit in tf2 gave you the ability to go outside the map.

Once again. When glitches are used, it puts the glitchers at a huge disadvantage 99% of the time.
It's done for fun...not to win.
I've seen regular placed sentries rock more people than ones put in the sky, etc...
So, if you can't win against some silly glitches, you might need some practice.
